I cannot recommend Children's Skin Center and Dr. Ana Duarte highly enough! She is truly the best pediatric dermatologist, and the fact that she treats adults as well means your entire family is in expert hands. I initially came to Dr. Duarte with two large scars from hip and knee replacement surgeries. After just six months of her care, both scars are now nearly invisible--an incredible transformation! As an older adult, I was also introduced to the Morpheus machine, which tightens and rejuvenates the skin. After a few treatments, I look and feel better than ever. The entire medical staff at Children's Skin Center is incredibly friendly and professional. From start to finish, every visit is a positive experience. Dr. Duarte's expertise, professionalism, and dedication to her patients are unmatched. Whether for children or adults, she and her team deliver exceptional results. Thank you, Dr. Duarte, and thank you to your amazing staff! read more

I visited the office of children's skin center on Pomce de Leon. They gave me an appointment time at 10:30am only to make you sit there for an hour plus. It was Dirty and a mess. Staff at front desk has no wipes or hand sanitizer to clean the iPads they hand you to check in. (Allot of skin diseases can be contagious mind you. )Front desk staff is aloof and seem distracted and or sedated. Most of the "doctors" who will see you are students or nurse practitioners. Not only do they waste your time in the lobby they will make you sit in a room for another 30minutes only to have a student walk in ,tell you it's nothing., and wait another 20minutes to check out. I bet AI can diagnose and treat me better than this office. read more

I won't be going here I been waiting on the phone for 30 minutes and than someone rude and hanged up on my face.

I feel compelled to share my experience to help others. I've had two unfortunate encounters with Dr. Ana Duarte, who is the Chief and Director of the center. Despite the warm and welcoming atmosphere with lovely pictures and friendly staff, my experiences with Dr. Duarte were disappointing. Dr. Duarte's demeanor was rude, arrogant, and extremely dismissive. She did not greet us or take the time to ask how we were doing. Instead, she seemed to rely solely on the medical assistant's notes, diagnosing my daughter within 30 seconds and leaving the room just as quickly. There was no opportunity for questions or to discuss concerns. To make matters worse, her notes in the patient portal falsely claimed that she provided detailed information about the diagnosis and treatment. However, I want to highlight that not all doctors at this center share Dr. Duarte's approach. Dr. Sara Naviwala and Dr. Ledy Ochoa are exemplary physicians. Dr. Naviwala is knowledgeable, kind, and thorough. She discusses the pros and cons of medications and their long-term effects, ensuring my daughter and I are well-informed. Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Ledy Ochoa. She re-diagnosed my daughter, explained the condition in detail, and discussed possible causes and treatments. Dr. Ochoa, along with her students, was compassionate and understanding, addressing our frustrations with patience and care. While my experiences with Dr. Duarte were far from positive, I am grateful for the care provided by Dr. Naviwala and Dr. Ochoa. They exemplify what it means to be attentive, caring, and knowledgeable physicians. I will continue to seek care from these outstanding doctors at the Children's Skin Center. My 1 star is for Dr. Duarte and if I was able to give individual stars they would be for Dr. Naviwala and Dr. Ochoa 5 stars each. read more

My pediatrician recommended that we see a dermatologist in this practice at Nicklaus because of my daughter's somewhat uncommon diagnosis. At the time of appointment, the provider seemed great but I realized she was not a physician: a PA. Please know, I have no problem with this after establishing a trustworthy rapport with the actual doctor. BUT I was not given the option at the time of appointment and never made aware until after our appointment. This made me very uncomfortable. After going back and forth about this with the office manager, I feel duped and don't really trust the information that we received in our appointment. Patients should always be informed of who their provider will be and their credentials, especially upon an initial visit. Likewise, the office manager disagreed with me that she had indeed let me know with whom was our visit, but after reviewing the information, she had not specified that the provider was not a physician. Overall, a very uncomfortable experience and I can't recommend them at all. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Dont waste your time, energy, & money with this place. I had a staph infection but didn't know it - went to the dermatologist & had it swabbed as it was actively oozing. Was told I would receive a call with results if anything concerning came out which no one bothered. I had to call & try to get someone months later, leave a message for the results & still not get a reply. What is even worse is I had to find out from an Infectious Disease specialist that I had staph because no one at this office had the decency to advise after an appointment I paid for. They treat your time like its not important, have patients waiting around, & once inside the rooms PA/nurses cannot even be bothered to actually listen or look at your skin concerns. It is as if you are bothering them & it is just a Ford assembly line of patients. $$ is all they want. How this practice has been in business so long is beyond me. At least pretend to care about your patients. read more

After waiting a month to be seen by Dr. Duarte, we were extremely disappointed with our experience. She came recommended by quite a few friends and we were looking forward to our consult. We went in for concerns of Mastocytoma which one of her PA's had previously diagnosed my daughter with. Dr. Duarte was extremely dismissive and did not even complete a body check of my daughter to evaluate her properly. Instead she looked at the spots presenting on her face and dismissed everything as bug bites. She spent more time explaining that she has 26 years of experience rather than explaining her reasoning for the quick diagnosis that did not align with our prior visit. A nurse came in to take a picture of my daughters "bites" for future reference, but only photographed one bite when she has a total of 10. Her office manager, Michelle, was lovely and immediately called me when she learned of my experience to apologize. But quite frankly, as I told Michelle, there are plenty of other doctors in Miami, no need to add undue stress to an already stressful situation because a doctor is not interested in attending to her patient. I hope other families don't have a similar experience! read more

I have been coming here since I was child and have since brought my own children my youngest has been getting treated for a hemangioma and by far Dr Ana Duarte is the absolute best so kind and friendly and knowledgeable the whole staff is super nice and helpful and always keep in touch about appointments and scheduling or if needing anything from the insurance it's been such a pleasant experience I recommend anyone and everyone to come see her , we had moved out of state for a few years and have been back for about a year and there is absolutely no comparison to the knowledge experience and equipment she provides. read more

I was looking for an appointment for my 2 sons because I saw good reviews about this center. I call 4-5 times and every time I waited for more than 10 minutes. Once someone answered me, told me that the office that I wanted only have appointments once a month and the next will be until April!!! (now is December), I asked for another office and the dates were until last days of January or march. If you offer other offices it's because you have the infrastructure to please your patients needs, including wide availability. It seems that they only work in this areas during their free time or something like that. You can be the best but, you can focus in just one office or make all offices work as well as your main office, otherwise, Don't offer options if you can make them work efficiently as well. read more

I had a terrible experience at this practice. My daughter was seen by Sandra Cyril, PA-C due to a patch of hair missing. Our Primary Care Pediatrician recommended we see a dermatologist to confirm the cause by having a culture taken. Our appointment seemed extremely rushed. Culture was taken and before any results we were told it is likely alopecia areata and she tried to prescribe a steroid even though we told her that we had a prescription for one before that seemed to cause really bad breakouts/blisters on our daughter's skin. After I asked, she said we could just try to do no treatment until the follow up in 4 weeks. 4 weeks later my husband took our daughter to her follow up appointment. He was told, only after asking, that the culture came back negative for anything fungal. When he asked to see the results, they told him they would email him. They ended up still prescribing an antifungal (without explaining to him that is what the medication was). They also tried to prescribe a steroid again, which he turned down. I called a couple weeks later because they never emailed the culture result. They then emailed a "prescription paper" with "negative" for the culture handwritten on it. Obviously, we no longer trusted them. There were also other signs that made us suspect the fungus which we had let them know. We ended up going to another practice which we highly recommend. We were given time and attention at that other practice. They also did a scrape of the skin (which was not offered at Dr. Duarte's practice) where they immediately noticed the fungus. They also took a culture which came back positive for the fungus. Now that we have the diagnosis and correct treatment as recommended by the doctor at the other practice, we are seeing vast improvements in our daughter's condition. read more

One star because it was easy to schedule the appointment online & my husband says the visit was a quick in & out. He did however mention the staff was just sitting around gossiping about the Kardashians the entire time. Backstory: my son had what seemed to be a rash under his eye & his pediatrician said to put Benadryl & follow up in a week if it didn't go away. A week later we're in because it got worse. He recommended getting a second opinion at Dr. Duarte's "Miami children's" location. My husband leaves Dr. Duarte's appointment by 3pm & goes to the pharmacy around 4:30pm. They didn't have the prescription & mentioned to him they were out of one of the medications. So I called the doctors office to inquire about the prescription & the girl tells me they don't send them out until after 5pm, which would have been nice to know before wasting our time going to the pharmacy. So I ask her at what time the doctors office closes in order to follow up; Conveniently at 5pm. I asked her to please send the prescription to a different pharmacy & why. I provided her with the information & she even called me back to confirm. Guess where we were at 7:30pm with no prescription? They didn't bother sending it all. Called the following day & the girl said that she did send a note changing the pharmacy but whoever was in charge of sending the prescription, still sent it to the wrong place. Thankfully, they ended up sending the prescription to the correct place. They also didn't bother to call to tell us the result of our sons lab. They mailed it & we received it weeks later. I will not be returning or recommending this office. Beyond disappointed in the lack of professionalism coming from a doctors office located inside a hospital. read more

Take it from a medical professional, go elsewhere. We had an appointment ( scheduled over a month ago) at the children's hospital location, and when we arrived (on time) there were approximately 30+ people in the waiting room!!! Best part: no receptionist!!! Everyone just signed in their name looking around cluelessly and sat on the floor to wait. Unreal!!!! I have never seen anything like this! I am a veterinarian , and I would never let a client of mine sit in a waiting room with their dog for more than 15 mins. It is deplorable for a pediatrician to do such a thing to parents and their kids. Why do doctors schedule so many patients at the same time? This is poor quality medicine! Volume should NEVER supersede quality of care and patient experience. read more

Update review - After 2 very nice conversations with Michelle, the office manager and another call from Dr Ana Duarte herself, I have decided to change my review. I love the doctor that has seen my daughter and except for the one mistake that happened yesterday I never had a negative thing to say about the office. I decided that the action, or in my case, inaction of 1 person should not affect my opinion of the office as a whole. And my conversations I had yesterday with Michelle and Dr Duarte, I strongly believe what happened to me is not the office norm. We are all human and it's normal to have off days. This is my second visit to the Children's Skin Center. The first one went well. I waited 10 mins in the first waiting room and then 20 mins in the second waiting room (the room the doctor comes to visit you). The doctor was friendly and knowledgeable. The doctor wanted to see my daughter again in 3 days to check on her skin. Made an appointment at the front desk for 3 days later at 10am. Got the appointment card stating 10 am. I arrived 20 mins early and checked it at the front desk stating that my daughter had an appointment at 10 am. The waiting room was full but no biggie I thought. We waited over an hour and a half in the first waiting room. They were calling in patients that came in after us. I finally go to ask how much longer we have to wait because our appointment time was for over an hour ago and people who came in after us were going in before us. The front desk girl rudely told me that our appointment was for 11:45am and that there was still 2 people ahead of us. I showed her our appointment card that said our appointment was at 10am and she said "Oh, well we have you in our system for 11:45am, there is nothing we can do" and I felt I was being dismissed. I understand that there was a mix up but the front desk person didn't have to be a jerk. read more

Bring your patience because not only will you be waiting for at least an hour but there will be kids screaming. You'd think in Miami you'd have a lot of quality doctors available... I've been in the search for a good dermatologist but kept on wasting too much of my time and resources. I give one star to Dr. Duarte if that, I agree with everyone very rude pictures of herself everywhere She spends 2 min with the patient you are left clueless from there. I also have seen Dr. Usmani I give her 5 stars she in the other hand shows compassion, concern, it's night and day. Dr. Duarte to me just seem cold and rude she should not be dealing with children. I could keep going but I'll just be as rude as her. read more

Dr ANa Duarte Children's Skin Center and staff are truly amazing . Thank you for the excellent care and service through the years !

Parents, honestly, yes you do wait for a bit after your scheduled time but when don't you when visiting a doctor's office. As all good things it's worth the wait. Waiitime was 11/2 hours and only because I asked to see anybody else besides continue waiting on dr Usmani. This was supposed to be a quick follow up appointment. That suggestion did not occur to them or warning on waittime. Just blank placid faces. I spent then less than 5 min with nice PA, paid $76 and left. I could have been done over an hour ago. Lady in front of me was still waiting after 2 hours... Luckily we do not have to return and won't for any future needs. The nurses and PA are friendly enough and apologetic (not the reception) but there's a lack of management. Doctors obviously have no incentive to change anything and there's an air of complacency with packed waitingroom. This is impression I left with. read more

AMAZING STAFF!!!! My nephew had a skin reaction that no primary care doctor could resolve, and the PA, Edie Hamilton, came to our rescue. Not only is she very knowledgeable and healed my nephew but she is very kind as well. The office manager, Michelle Machin, was INCREDIBLY helpful in finding a way to meet all our needs. You can tell she really cares about providing patients with EXCEPTIONAL service!! I recommend Children's Skin Center to everyone! read more

We arrived 5 minutes before our appointment and waited an hour only to see Dr Usmani for maybe 2 minutes. She dismissed all of the homeopathic remedies I was trying to help ease my son's eczema. My toddler has been showing a rather uncommon pattern of skin discoloration lately and so we made an appointment with Dr. Duarte's office. The appointment was quite disappointing for several reasons. First, I was not told that the appointment was with a PA and not the Dr. herself. Since my daughter's case is somewhat unusual, I was not excited about this. I wish they had told me ahead of time. Second, the PA walked into the room, asked us a few questions, and without touching my daughter once and from a distance of several feet decided it was a birth mark and not vitiligo. She didn't show any interest in doing the UV -light check which we later found out was standard. Since then we have seen multiple specialists in Miami and Boston and the consensus has been that it is some form of vitiligo and is unlikely to be a birth mark. I would not recommend this practice to anyone who might have a complicated case or who expects a more thorough and careful examination in general. This review is for my experience with the PA. I did not get to see Dr. Duarte. read more

It was easy to get a last minutes appointment and fast services ( in and out took me less than 45 minutes), that is why I am giving them 1 star. I was overcharged ( they are floating me with letters to pay for what insurance didnt cover) for a "skin lesion destruction" but I still have it ( facial 0.5x05 cm freckle), never doctor, only mid level provider (nurse practitioner i think) even though they billed my visit as first DOCTOR visit. read more

I went to Dr. Duarte's office last week for a facial and it was extremely disappointing. Her assistant did not once touch my forehead, did not even care to assist the acne on the side of my cheeks and only took out some black heads in my nose. I'm more than disappointed to have spent $70 on a facial that took 20 minutes, and 10 of those minutes were spent putting on a face mask, something that I could've just done at home! I've gotten multiple facials throughout the years and not once have I left a place as disappointed as I was leaving that facial. Definitely not worth the money or the time. read more

Horrible dermatologist... She rushes in and out... I've been trying to get rid of my acne and this lady is no help. I've tried everything that she recommends .. Super expensive for nothing. They clearly don't know how to manage time... I always had to wait 2 hrs min. Ridic read more

If you want your child to be seen by a physician assistant instead of a doctor who's an expert in the field, then this is the place for you. It was my daughter's first visit and my son's return visit after he's had years of chronic skin allergies. While I highly respect physician assistants, and they're good at what they do, I went in with the impression that my children were going to be seen by a specialized physician. I am perfectly ok with physician assistants follow ups, but not on a first consultation. When you call and make an appointment they do not tell you who will be seeing your child (PA, MD...etc), which in my case, I assumed it was the specialist. This is very unprofessional, and they are intentionally omitting information in order to get your business. Nicklaus Children's Hospital is a respected institution and I expected to receive top expertise care from their dermatology group; instead I did not see an expert and went home disappointed. read more

Soooo professional, dermatologist sees a 16 year old and the first thing she says is "wow! You really have acne" wayy to go doctor! Thats what ever teen wants to hear (which btw he doesnt have a loooot of acne he has a normal amount for a teenager) then she asks him to take his shirt off and then she says "wow you also have strech marks" since when do doctors say "wow" for everything? Why did you think we went to see a specialist? Just fix it! Dont be a bully!!! Then the best part is that we ask her if what she prescribes is accutane and she says no, then we pick up the formula and guess what? It is! And i dont even want to get started with the front desk! Wow is that terrible service! read more

My appointment was at 1:30pm, let's correct this my sons appointment was at 1:30. We came early (11 am) , I told the receptionist that I was sorry that I came in early- (I have a one year and for those of you who don't have children; learn quick- they don't usually sit in a doctors office well behaved.** everyone that came in after me was seen before me. A mother of a toddler wouldn't deliberately sit with him in a place where his space is limited.) She said they were backed up with their morning people that before the doctor went to lunch she'd try and get us in. In my personal opinion 11am? Lunch..?! I don't know if their offices or doctors can't handle their patients and are overloading the appointment book- but okay. Smiled at her and went to sit down. Now it's 1pm- another receptionist was there so I asked what was going on, why were all the people that checked in before me being seen. The same young woman that checked me in says- I told you the doctors at lunch. I just rolled my eyes and left. My son was ready for a nap and we essentially couldn't wait. Clearly she isn't a mother, or has no understanding of customer service/considerations for parents. I myself could have waited 2/3 hours with no problem but a child. A child has no conception of time. So please if you have kids don't go there. They lack communication skills and it shows in their work ethic. read more

Not professional, not caring, and with the years she has turned worse.
