We made a last minute reservation as we were driving from Milwaukie all the way to Hillsboro. Our original plans didn't work out but wanted to give my 16 month old a fun day anyway. From the second we walked in we were greeted with genuine enthusiasm for being there. I love the layout as I can watch him from anywhere. There was so much for him to do (even though he was at the train table 80% of the time!) and it was all SO cute! I don't know if we just got lucky, but every other parent/caretaker was extremely kind as well. Also, they give out a free toy and snack on the way out which definitely helped with the heartbreak of leaving. We will definitely be back a bazillion more times!

The exhibit was smaller than usually thanks to the second floor remodel, and it was okay but not great; worth the $5 but not much more. Kind of cool to see the skeleton casts of a mosasaurus and early large fish but otherwise a flop. The passport stamp locations are the only spots that talk about the presumed cause of extinction for each age so you don't really get to read them as small kids are trying to stamp their pages. Also, there is no mention of current monsters of the abyss like the giant squid, angler fish, or giant isopod.

There is an airplane that has different realistic airplane sounds. There is a food/kitchen area, a veterinarian office, a home space with a kitchen and babies, an outer-space section, an ice cream truck, tables with different activities like drawing, sorting, building, and a large lego table. There is so much imaginative play options. All of the toys were clean and seemed new. There is also options to add extra activities like make your own slime, paint pottery, and dye a hat or apron. Play Street Museum also offers to host parties. We loved our hour and a half of play time at this awesome spot! At the end of your visit, the kids get to pick out a snack. There is some group package discount for the mansion, the movie museum, and I believe the Heritage Museum.

Experiment PDX is truly something special…read more I can't say enough good things about Experiment PDX and its owner, Molly. We had a birthday party booked for my 6-year-old and had to cancel the morning of because she woke up with a fever (every parent's nightmare scenario). Molly was incredibly responsive, kind, and understanding, and she went above and beyond to be fair and compassionate about the last-minute cancellation. Her empathy and professionalism meant so much during a stressful moment. Beyond that experience, I've also taken my older child to Experiment PDX for a drop-in play day, and the staff were just as wonderful. They were warm, patient, and genuinely engaged, making my child feel welcomed and special from the moment we walked in. Experiment PDX is not only an amazing, creative space where younger kids can explore, experiment, and be curious--it's also a place run by people who truly care about families. The combination of an incredible environment and exceptional customer service is rare, and Molly and her team absolutely deliver. We also scheduled a tour of the blast zone and encountered beautiful scenery, landscapes and wildlife. The tour was eye opening on the amount of devistation and change that can take place so quickly in a catastropic event. I definitely recommend a visit along with the tour you will not be disappointed.
