We made a last minute reservation as we were driving from Milwaukie all the way to Hillsboro. Our original plans didn't work out but wanted to give my 16 month old a fun day anyway. From the second we walked in we were greeted with genuine enthusiasm for being there. I love the layout as I can watch him from anywhere. There was so much for him to do (even though he was at the train table 80% of the time!) and it was all SO cute! I don't know if we just got lucky, but every other parent/caretaker was extremely kind as well. Also, they give out a free toy and snack on the way out which definitely helped with the heartbreak of leaving. We will definitely be back a bazillion more times!

I truly didn't look at Yelp before buying tickets to the museum and a showing of the planetarium. My fiancé and I finished walking the museum in 30 minutes because it was full of children from camp. We weren't going to play or interact with the museums when children were there and it was sciences we already knew. I was saddened thinking it was a museum for adults. In addition, we absolutely bought the wrong tickets for the planetarium. We ended up at a KPOP Delon Hunters Laser Show. We didn't know what to expect. Whoever made the show did an exceptional job, but we wanted to see something that completely encompasses the entire planetarium. Ultimately, perfect for children. Not adults. The 4 stars is that it is still a great museum.... For children.

They have 3D movie options which we didn't do, but the museum itself is beautifully done and worth it if you have time in Astoria.

We had a birthday party booked for my 6-year-old and had to cancel the morning of because she woke up with a fever (every parent's nightmare scenario). Molly was incredibly responsive, kind, and understanding, and she went above and beyond to be fair and compassionate about the last-minute cancellation. Her empathy and professionalism meant so much during a stressful moment. Beyond that experience, I've also taken my older child to Experiment PDX for a drop-in play day, and the staff were just as wonderful. They were warm, patient, and genuinely engaged, making my child feel welcomed and special from the moment we walked in.
