From the…read morehelpful, sweet ladies at the front desk to the office management staff (thanks for the delightful coffees!!), knowledgeable orthodontic/clinical assistants and, of course, Dr. Mina and Dr. Bob, they're all amazing! I received excellent and reasonably priced treatment for realigning my upper and lower teeth to not hit (and prevent damage!) - and it was always such a nice experience. Good people who really care and really know their stuff. Whether you wind up primarily seeing the fabulous Dr. Mina or Dr. Bob (what a card!), you can't go wrong. Also loved that they can make their own "Invisilign," which is a more approachable option and works all the same. Also, the parking garage at 1160 19th St. NW is super close, very reasonable on Spot Hero, and likewise, super nice folks!! Cannot recommend Kumra enough! (DC-location patient).

I came in for a cleaning and the dentist told the assistant to run my xrays through AI. This immediately set off alarm bells for me, as I expect a trained dentist to be able to identify cavities with their eye and not rely on AI, which we know makes mistakes. AI said I had 4 cavities, which I thought sounded like too many because I'm diligent about my dental hygiene. But I went ahead and got two of them filled. On one of the fillings the dentist kept drilling and drilling, and despite being numbed, I could feel it. I raised my hand to say I could feel it and he just stopped and started filling it. I was like - if I hadn't raised my hand, would he have just kept going? I then had persistent pain in the tooth for a week (there was zero pain before) so I went to another dentist for a second opinion. Turns out the dentist had not adjusted the filling to my bite correctly, so the way I was biting was inflaming the nerves in my tooth. Adjusting fillings to bite is Dentistry 101, so why wasn't that done? The new dentist also said he drilled so close to my nerves that I was almost in a root canal situation. Fortunately not, but wow, that really scared me. He also said I only needed one other filling, he didn't at all see this 4th filling I was told I needed. I saw another review on here of a man who was told he needed 7 fillings and then a second opinion said he only needed 4, so this isn't a one-off instance. It seems like this place prioritizes making as much money as possible, and therefore wants to sell as many procedures as possible, regardless of negative health impacts. I was also forced to buy a $30 prescription toothpaste, what a rip-off. They also push their in-house orthodontist heavily on people. I'm happy with my teeth even though they're not perfect, so I was not thrilled about the dentist unprompted telling me all the ways I could make them better with their orthodontist. In this economy?! I'm happy I found another dentist who doesn't put money first.

Updated Review - Hindsight Is 20/20: Buyer Beware…read more Looking back several years after completing treatment, I feel it's important to share my experience. My orthodontic results lasted only about 2-3 years after my braces were removed. After that, my teeth gradually shifted and gaps began to form, despite wearing my retainers exactly as instructed. When I returned to discuss the issue, I was disappointed that there were no meaningful solutions offered other than paying for additional treatment or purchasing new retainers. The retainers themselves were another frustration. I paid approximately $600 for each set, yet both broke much sooner than expected. When I contacted the office about a newly purchased retainer that appeared to be defective, I was told through the receptionist to see my local dentist instead. That response left me feeling dismissed, especially since the problem involved a retainer made by their office. Once my treatment was complete, I felt there was very little support when problems developed that were related to my orthodontic care. While the office staff was always willing to schedule appointments, my concerns ultimately weren't resolved, and I was left feeling that the only options presented involved spending more money. The office itself is attractive and offers plenty of extras, but I personally felt that those amenities were reflected in the overall cost of treatment rather than the long-term quality of care. In addition, parking is very limited and inconvenient, making appointments more difficult and expensive. Everyone's experience may be different, but mine was disappointing. I recommend researching your orthodontist carefully and considering not only the treatment process but also the level of long-term support you'll receive if problems arise after treatment. 2017 Initial Review: So excited I found VCO via google online. I had just moved and was in the middle of treatment for my existing braces, and she was one of very few who would take me in & continue my treatments. (Most orthodonists dont like to take on patients who already have braces) Her office is very clean, fun, eclectic and modern! Chrissy is wonderful, and she makes me feel comfortable to trust her with achieving my goals of a beautiful smile and straighter teeth. My monthly visits are quick and easy. They get me in and out. I had chipped my front tooth due to poor bonding from my former dentist. It had chipped about three times in about four months with no real solution other than to either slap on new bonding or shave my teeth down. I called Dental Devotion and they were so kind and considerate of my situation. They were able to squeeze me in the next morning. From the women in the front office, to the dental assistant, and to the dentist, my experience was top notch. They explained what was happening, how they were going to fix it, and asked for my approval every step of the way. Like many reviews have mentioned, they treated me like a human and didn't try to force anything on me aside from what I wanted fixed. The only negative is that their parking is a garage and they only validate for an hour so if you have a longer procedure, you will be paying $$. I stayed about 70 minutes and the parking was $4 with validation. I still would recommend this practice to anyone as they are honest and provide quality work/service.

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH MY ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT!…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. I trusted NVO Orthodontics and Dr. Itani with my smile, and it was one of the biggest mistakes I've made. They completed my treatment even though my lower teeth were still crooked and my upper front teeth were still protruding. Anyone could clearly see that the treatment was not finished properly. I repeatedly expressed that I was unhappy with the results, but my concerns were not taken seriously. Instead of working with me to achieve the outcome I had paid for, they simply ended my treatment. I left the office feeling disappointed, frustrated, and hopeless. Orthodontic treatment is a significant investment of both time and money, and patients deserve to have their concerns heard and addressed--not dismissed. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend NVO Orthodontics. I felt like getting paid was more important to them than making sure I was satisfied with the results of my treatment.
