The prior…read moreowner notified us on July 4th, and then we received no information from the new owners for over a week. I just dropped my kids off to find that the usually pristine facility was just covered with filth on the floor. Like someone had just dumped dirt and trash around. A teacher was trying to clean it up, because apparently the owners had just left it that way over the weekend for the old teachers to deal with unexpectedly before the parents arrive. The new owners are rarely there and when you ask when they'll be there, you get this vague "we're here whenever we can!". When they are there, they skulk in this back room area where you can't see them but they can hear what you say to the prior staff. They're just... listening in but refusing to actually communicate. They're also changed things that didn't need changing to the point that it just seems like a power trip -- like no teachers have a chair where they can sit down for a second except one, hard, dining room style chair. The final straw was that there were plastic bags left around in the trash. They talk "safety safety safety" but are leaving dangerous choking hazards left around toddlers? Filth on the floor where babies are learning to crawl? This isn't even an issue of "I just don't like their non-montessori style." This isn't a safe place any more.

My oldest has been there since he was 9months (now 3.5) He has been diagnosed severe food allergies and they are very supportive in helping us keep him safe. Every teacher has been wonderful and the admin are on top of their game.

After moving to this part of Atlanta recently, I was amazed at the cost/waitlist/class size of many daycares in the area. I "interviewed" several places and was starting to question whether or not I was going to find a place that I felt comfortable taking my kids to everyday. The Goddard School Austell is the same place my niece and nephew went 8 years ago and without question is the best! Mrs. Lauren was immediately warm and welcoming inviting us in to see this "family feel" preschool. She is always open for conversation, empathetic, real, transparent and a parent herself. She employs a staff that also models those qualities. If we have ever had a concern about our children (potty training, bottle weaning, tantrums etc)... they are all there to assist, work with us and ultimately foster love, patience, knowledge and kindness in our babies! They have a curriculum that is followed and emailed monthly. Daily reports are sent out over a phone app making it easy to check in on the kids each day. Healthy breakfasts and catered (healthy) lunches are provided each day, along with snacks in between. They have nice playgrounds that the kids love playing on when it is nice outside and a large open gym to run around in when it is raining or too cold to be outside, with a built in rock climbing wall, what?! Along with the day-to-day activities, they are always doing special things around the holidays for the kids/parents (Christmas program, Easter egg hunt, Valentines, etc). I honestly could go on and on about all the ways The Goddard School Austell is a phenomenal daycare... but most importantly, I don't have to question what type of care my little ones are getting. I know in my absence they are being loved, nurtured, comforted and allowed to grow, learn and explore in a warm and caring environment...every day. I understood that spray bottles may have been used outside to help cool children off in the summer, but what I saw concerned me enough that I asked administration for a meeting to better understand the policy and whether spray bottles were ever used for anything other than cooling off. When I spoke with Lauren, I did not feel my concern was received well. The conversation focused more on my wording and whether I was accusing the school of abuse than on giving me clarity about what I had seen. I left the conversation feeling that my concern as a parent had been met defensively rather than constructively. Because of that interaction, we withdrew our child that day. I had a positive impression of some parts of Goddard overall, but based on my experience with this specific location, I would not personally recommend it.

They are also performing arts based so the productions are something to look forward to as well. So far I've enjoyed my child's experience here. Their food is subpar and reheat days old meals. My child's teacher didn't have the patience to assist with potty training so put a pull up on my child instead of taking them to bathroom when asked. I complained multiple times of my child not being cleaned properly, as feces residue was left in the pull-up and underwear. There have been several incidents where the "teachers" didn't know what happened with my child during the day and left questions unanswered and speculations forming. There isn't any order and quite frankly, I don't think they care because they know the people in the area "need" a daycare. The director and her daughter, Ms. Rhonda, are extremely unprofessional and don't even give the parents decent courtesy by speaking to them. Ms. Freeman is a dictator and reigns over her employees like Hitler. They don't even hold their heads up and speak up when she's around. Once she walks away, they confess how horrible it is to work for her and her condescending daughter. She belittles not only the parents, but also her staff. I feel bad for them because many don't have the knowledge and skills to leave. It's either her way or the highway, even when witnesses and evidence prove otherwise. MKS hires staff who they know they can bully, because they need a job. They have no voice and no one's opinion is respected or heard. Not even the parents'. The staff look and sound like they came off the street because they can barely hold a decent conversation, let alone care for small children. Her infant teacher even gave a baby animal crackers and said, "Well i didn't know she couldn't eat that. How was i supposed to know?". They don't have proper training to work with infants and children and that stems from the Director. She is manipulative and degrading and I would recommend everyone i come in contact with to STAY AWAY from MKS Learning Center. Pay a little more and find a center that will love on your kids, teach your kids, and treat PAYING consumers with respect. Not everyone gets CAPS or subsidized childcare and not everyone is loud and ghetto. Find a place that cares and LISTENS to the parents, as well as the staff. MKS Learning Center is not for you, nor your child.

We were new to Georgia when we first joined SAE. We were originally told our child would be placed in Pre-K 4 even though their birthday is after the September 1st cutoff. Imagine our surprise after they took our money and we signed a contract that they put our child in Pre-K 3. Their excuse was we need to see if they can adapt to the SAE way. Thats fair enough, but they never moved our child to Pre-K 4, even after they passed all of their assessments. Nonetheless, she had a good teacher and the teacher tested her and stated she definitely should be in Kindergarten and not Pre-K for the upcoming fall school year. This we already were aware of since we work with our children at home. We had a meeting with the SAE administration and they refused to move our child to Kindergarten. Mind you our child wouldn't be the only child who has been moved up and this is a private education system. We are paying for it so the reasons that were given weren't justifiable. They wanted us to try the Pre-K 4 program since its equivalent to public Kindergarten( their words not mines) and then evaluate the move to Kindergarten. That failed miserably as an incident took place with the pre-k 4 teachers that prompted our immediate removal of our child all together. "When we called the pre-k 3 teacher that we had the previous school year, she stated she was glad we were done with that place and although the incident is unfortunate I'm glad your child is no longer there". Those are very concerning words coming from a teacher/staff member. All in all it has been such a blessing in disguise! After leaving SAE, we weren't sure what direction to go in as far as childcare since we knew our child was too advanced for childcare center or daycare. So we looked into homeschooling and co ops. Prior to placement they tested our child and they tested on a 1st grade level! Here we are advocating for our child to be in kindergarten and we should have been advocating for 1st grade! Imagine if we would have stayed at SAE. We would be doing a disservice to our child as they would be in Pre-K 4 and not learning on the level they should be. Again if your child operates outside of the standard or on an advanced level do not send your child to SAE. Just for safety concerns alone, dont send your child here. Always ask your child how their day was and listen to them. Actively listen to them, had we not done so our child would still be here. Thank God our child spoke up!

I just saw a white passenger van parked crosswise, blocking both sides of the street, and picking up children while doing it. I watched vehicles parking, driving on - and over - sidewalks with kids walking on them. They block the road for a solid hour to the point that no emergency vehicles could possibly get through. They don't direct traffic, though they do have people standing in the middle of the road. This has to stop, it's dangerous. Don't send your kids here if you care about them.

His kindergarten teachers were Mr. Gaskins and Mr. Pearson. Such a great team and set the foundation with him to support his growth in various areas. They always encouraged him and collaborated with me to prepare him for first grade & for him to see representation and excellence in black men on the daily was a great big deal for us.
