The class sizes are smaller, the curriculum is amazing, my son is an honor student and is excelling not only academically, but at life. I love working at Newman. We have the greatest staff and teachers that truly care about their students. There is genuine love for students and their families at Newman and it is a very safe and beautiful environment as well! The reviews below made me so sad. I am sure that caring parents reading the reviews will be able to read between the lines and understand that for whatever reason the reviews were written by people that were upset with the school for enforcing policies, behavior expectations, and school rules that are outlined in the Student Handbook - which every parent and student receives and then signs an acknowledgement of receipt and understanding. of the contents. Students are allowed to wear any jacket outside, the Newman approved school jackets are for inside. Newman does enforce the dress code and I am glad. If I am following the rules and providing the proper uniform for my child, I expect other parents to do the same. Newman is a school that follows the rules and policies. My son used to refer to her as his "ANGRY" teacher because she would constantly yell at him, call him names, and make him feel small. I began noticing changes in his behavior and, after gently asking him questions, he opened up about the mistreatment. He told me that Ms. Carole would hit him on his arms and legs, mock him about his backpack, saying it was dirty and making him hide it so it wouldn't be seen. Even more heartbreaking, she made fun of his eczema--a condition he struggles with daily. I immediately reported this to the Director, Ms. Vanessa, but instead of addressing the abuse, she brushed it off. She told me that my son "probably just doesn't want to be here" and suggested that I remove him--which I did. I am devastated that my child had to endure this. What's worse is that Ms. Carole is STILL employed there. Why? This place is not just unsanitary and unprofessional--it's toxic. The environment feels cult-like among the staff, and it's clear the teachers are overworked and underpaid. I'm sharing this so other parents are aware. Protect your children. Trust your gut. The week (2 weeks ago) of their takeover the parents were given a tuition agreement to sign as we dropped our children off in the morning. And for some of us their was a discrepancy with the tuition rate. I brought this to the new Director's attention and advised I her I did not pay the amount listed on the agreement. Also, I was not signing the agreement without reading it. Fast forward a week to the current week.. while picking up my child the Corporate employee Paula informed me I had a balance on my account. She asks "do you want to know why". Yes because I should not have a balance. Then she informs me it is because the tuition increased. I told her "Aren't you required to give a notice of an increase?" Paula tells me an email was sent regarding the increase 3 weeks ago. I informed her I did not receive an email and asked to verify if they had my email on file. She said their system was down but write my email address on the post it note. As of today, I have not received a written notice of the increase nor have I received an email previously regarding an increase in the tuition rate. And I have never received a notice or email stating I had a balance past due on my account ever. This evening I was called into the office again because I now have a balance on my account due to the "tuition increase" applied to my account this week. I was informed if I did not pay it they would charge me a late fee. Well I'm not paying it! Let see what tomorrow brings at Childcare Network..
