Short on time and needing something to eat close to the Eiffel Tower, I stumbled across Chikara. From the outside is very unassuming, very little to signage, I came in because I needed a quick bite and thought it was the best of the options on this street and because of the promise of free WiFi and therefore a lifeline back to the States. Speaking of WiFi, it was very strong, just ask for the password which is also printed on their takeout menus.
Initially I thought I would be in trouble as the women who greeted me spoke French but she quickly passed me off to a young man who could easily communicate with me. Inside is nice, several tables for larger or small groups.
Food was good, I went with the beef rice bowl. Portion size was great and the meal was very filling. Beef was tender and of a good quality, rice was nicely cooked and the sauce was tangy with a small kick. My only issue was the dish was overly greasy which was a bit off putting.
All in all, great quick meal with views of the Eiffel Tower from the outside, well worth a visit. read more
