Dave at Chief's Mowers is always very helpful! He comes to pick our mower up for us when it needs service, which is extremely helpful. I can trust that the job is done well each time. Still waiting for a callback from Chiefs.. I called 2 weeks ago about my two tractors that one needed a tune up and the other a tuneup and a drive belt replaced for the snowblower attachment. Talked to a woman who told me the 'scribblings' on the repair ticket for my John Deere said broken transmission... the transmission worked fine before it left my yard... only needed a carb cleaning and tune up. She stated that 'mechanic' no longer works there but had no more information for me. My other unit hadn't even been looked at yet.... I'm going to contact the Attorney Generals office of consumer fraud today and see what they say. read more

I had my ride on mower repaired end of last season to have it not start again this spring. When I spoke to them they made it sound like no problem we'll come get it. So they charged me to come get it only to "repair" and return it not starting. They couldn't look at it again until 5 days later. Which I had to pay someone to mow my lawn because my mower wasnt working! Despite the aggravation, no steps were taken to try to keep my business. like maybe refund the $50 transport fee since I didn't ask for transport as I have a trailer but thought maybe they were doing it since repairs done in October were a fail. So transport driver actually repaired my blown fuse and loose wire. I will definitely NOT be using their service again read more

Dropped my lawnmower off for repair 6 weeks ago ......checked on the status after 2 weeks and was told they had to order a part. Another two weeks passes and I left 4 voice messages to check in the status. They did not return any of my calls... Randomly dropped by on Saturday to check and was told the mower had not yet been looked at ??? I was then told they would call me first thing on Tuesday since it was a long weekend. I accepted this and went home. It is now Thursday no call, no update. I decided to drop by to reclaim my mower. After I explained the entire situation, the owner was quick to make excuses and not take responsibility. He claims they ordered the wrong part and the part I needed was no longer available. So why hadn't they told me this ?? Very immature in not being able to accept responsibility and at least offer some type of apology. I'll drive the extra 5 miles north or south and have a reputable shop handle my service needs from now on. So much for supporting local business! read more

ask to have an estimate before any work was done, never got a phone call. Got a bill for $126 just to replace a carburetor. The carburetor cost 25 bucks and they charge over $100 a labor when the average labor cost for carburetor replacement is only $40. I would recommend you not deal with this business. Other people warned me that they are a rip-off and apparently that is the case. read more

Guess I should have listened to the reviews, dropped my lawnmower off June 9th, said it would be done in two weeks. It's now July 9th and it's still not ready. Call at least twice a week and no one answers the phone. Will be the last time I bring any of my equipment here, and would suggest anyone else to go elsewhere. read more

Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Having been a loyal customer with Don's for years, I cannot recommend the new ownership. I took my mower in for a simple repair and was told it would be ready in 10 days. After 2 weeks, I tried calling, but they don't answer the phone and don't return voice messages. I made 3 subsequent in-person trips to check on the status and was told each time that the part needed hadn't come in, had been shipped and my mower would be ready in a few days. After the 3rd trip, I took my mower to another repair shop and it was ready in 2 days. read more

Mike, the owner is the worst business man I have ever come across. We thought we would make our purchase to support small businesses but this one was surely a BIG mistake. We were so mistreated and disrespected once they had our $4000.00. They even wrote us a Bad Check to refund us for an item they couldn't get in. Never Ever would I recommend this place. Dropped off our mower to get the self propel feature fixed. They said they would assess the problem for $25 but never called us back. Three weeks later when I called them, they claimed they couldn't get it started and we'd have to spend $120 just to get to the point where they could evaluate it. I opted out, picked up the mower, brought it home and got it started in precisely 4 pulls. So they're either dishonest or incompetent. On the plus side, they didn't charge me the $25. What a JERK the owner is. I brought my mower in because I needed a new wheel adjuster. He tried to up-sell me a full service, but the mower didn't need it, so I refused. He told me it would cost $80. Two weeks later and I finally get a call that it's done.I walk in and he says it will be $130. I explain to him that I only wanted the wheel fixed and that we discussed this at length. He then say "I didn't fix the wheel." I tell him I'm not going to give him $130 for work I didn't want and I'm still left with a broken mower!The guy takes a fit, screaming and swearing. He says he grandmother died, tells me to just take the mower and get the f*ck out of his store.Do NOT bring your mower to this guy. He WILL rip you off and scream obscenities at you. read more

so where do i start... first i order a part from them and he says it will be in three days later. the part was ordered and when i went back three days later he said that it was on backorder so now im a little mad due to the fact i could have ordered it and it would have been in by then. next i wait a while and dont hear back from them so i give them a call and they didnt answer so i drive there and they told me that they didnt have time to answer the phone. so then i proceed to ask where my part is he says that he doesnt have access to those records. how doesnt someone who works in a repair shop not have access to the tracking information on a customers order. next i wait another week and the part has not come in yet so i proceed to order one online just to see which one would come in first. so after going into the shop 4 days in a row because they dont answer the phone he proceeds to tell me that they cancelled the order a week ago because they didnt think i wanted it anymore. that set me over the top! so then my friend brings her push mower there to get the pull cord replaced and she had not yet known about my experience there and they replaced it but it took them a week and a half to replace a pull cord that takes 10 mins and they charged her $50 for 10 mins of work then she got home with it and it didnt start so i went over and took a look at it and when they had replaced it they turned it on its side which is ok but you have to turn it to the side opposite the carburetor. so then i clean that out and finially get it running and all of a sudden the screws for the pull cord top rattle off and the pull cord assembly and the casing of the motor fall off. so now i am going to bring the mower back there show it to them request my money back and i dont want them touching the mower again and i will bring it to kent county mower which is a really good repair shop on tiogue ave. they are the best and always are very good to everyone unlike chiefs mowers read more
