Yesterday, my wife and I were in the area looking for some local goodies as Christmas presents and made our way into Hip & Humble. The outside is very inviting-I love the color of the house-turned-retail building. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by Mabe, the beautiful resident dog. She happily sniffed us, let us pet her and then she went back to her duties of wandering the store. Any place that has a dog is A-OK in my book! Each item in the shop appears to have been carefully curated to be here. Nothing seems out of place or odd. I love every item and how cohesive everything feels. Up front, you'll find an assortment of knick-knacks, home goods, soaps & lotions, etc. Toward the back is a room full of unique women's clothing and accessories. The owner visited with us briefly and we felt very welcome to be there. It's a fun atmosphere with adorable items. I look forward to returning for additional gift items in the future.

Brands are higher end and priced as such: Wildfox, Free People, BB Dakota, ASTR, MinkPink, etc. Lots that I like, but that I can find priced lower elsewhere (though, on my most recent visit, they had a small rack of sales goods). Of course, there is something to be said for shopping local. The dressing rooms were especially attractive. There was just one girl working, and she wasn't overly helpful, but friendly enough. A set of three tiny spray bottles of one brand I like (though can't remember now what brand). Well, I got home and THEY WEREN'T SPRAY BOTTLES! I checked the box: yep, says they're spray bottles. So I tried to return them, which I thought would be simple because it was within 24 hours, I had the receipt, there was a clear discrepancy between what the box advertised and what was inside---but no. Absolutely would not give me a refund OR exchange, and they weren't very polite about it, either. Treated me as if I'd done something wrong, or underhanded!

Those aforementioned (discounted) jammies were like $200, and much as I adored them, I didn't love them THAT much. I did not recognize the majority of brands, and while that doesn't really mean anything, I have to admit I might have been more inclined to buy such pricey products if I was more familiar with the maker.
