When I proposed the idea to other parents, I was met with a lot of doubt regarding whether the task could actually be accomplished in the time allowed. We have over 540 children, their siblings, and their parents in attendance at this event; and, the event takes place between the hours of 8am and 1 pm. When I thought about it, I also started to entertain doubt over whether we would still be able to offer the face painting in that short amount of time. But, Jeni Borgman of Funny Faces, kept assuring me that she could easily accomplish the task, and was more than happy to meet the challenge. With only her assurance, I went ahead with the planned face painting; and. I can say now, I am so glad I did! She was beyond amazing! I had originally planned on very simple designs, thinking that would be the only way that she would even be able to finish painting a small majority of the student's faces. But, she went above and beyond, painting not only all of our student's faces, their siblings and family members, and some of the teacher's faces, but with elaborate, beautifully detailed designs! The doubt, parents had felt prior to the event, was quickly replaced with awe, admiration, and much appreciation. This woman worked tirelessly to accomplish this monumental task, and make our school's event a success! I want to add that she worked all day long without even taking a break! She handled the chaos, and the many challenges of the event with grace, unwavering diligence, and acumen. Everyone at Marigold is still discussing the wonderful work this woman accomplished at our school event! With everything she demonstrated that day, the one thing that has left me in awe of her, is the sheer amount of heart she pours into her work. I have never met someone so willing to put so much of themselves into assuring the happiness of others! We are all so lucky to have someone like her working to better, not only our events, but our community as a whole!
