Service is quite fast and the selection of food is wide and the wine list is well thought out, we had several meals and everyone was very impressed with the food, taste and presentation. I has the Duck Raghu and I was impressed with the taste, my partner had a pizza which smelt fantastic from the other end of the table, all the other meals were very good. Each meal came out one at a time, this is a bit different to other places but I feel that this is the case because each meal is made and plated up fresh the moment it leaves the kitchen. There is also a good selection of cakes here and coffee is quite good too, if you are in the area and feel like good Italian I would highly recommend Anthonys.

All in all, a winning cafe which I highly recommend. It's nice to have something like this that's local and doesn't require a trip into town. Lastly, they are quite kid friendly and will do their best to accommodate strollers. There are several high chairs available.

It was upon stepping into this modest looking deli with fluro lighting, 50s vinyl chairs and plastic tables, random cooking equipment scattered around and big, black and white pictures of beautiful Italians with "I love Napoli" written on them hanging on the wall that I felt like I had returned to a pizza shop from the mother land. Walk out through the kitchen to toilet at the back of the shop and you might trip on a bag of pizza flour on way but don't worry, the lino floors will protect your fall. Enough about the interior, that doesn't really matter. In traditional fashion, the star of the show is the hand made blackened pizza oven sitting in the middle of the shop serving up damn good WOG Pizza. We thought we'd be modest an just order one 12 inch Frutti di Mare (seafood) and a bottle of wine to share (funnily enough sipped out of those promo wine cups that you collect from various wine events and functions over the years). But after devouring this crispy based, sweet tomato sauce covered, melt in your mouth seafood pizza we decided we couldn't stop at one. The Truff Truff was next - a creamy, cheesy base of truffle oil, cheese, dried mediterranean herbs and more cheese. Forget manners, there's no forks or plates here and the owner really couldn't care less if you came in or not. He does what he loves and I think even if there were no customers in store he would be happy. The girls on the floor are friendly but really, who needs to make small talk when all you want to do is finish off 2 large pizzas in 30 minutes and then roll home?

Now, to divulge the secret we found here, in dozens of Italian restaurants all round Adelaide, my wife and I have been searching for a perfect garlic pizza bread - an equal to an absolute favourite we had on the Gold Coast, which was a half hour drive from home and a regular visit just for the one delicacy. Up until now, it's been a thirteen year search, but here, at Belmondo, we found a Garlic pizza to equal the very best - crisp but not brittle pizza bread, lashings of garlic and salt, and just enough oil to bring the whole thing to life on your taste buds - truly, you owe it to yourself to sample this entree, it's the standard for other places to catch. The menu is varied, offering something for everyone. I struggled hugely to bring my choices down from 'one of everything', finally settling on their gnocchi, as it's one dish I struggle with to make a satisfying dish of, myself. My wife went with the atlantic salmon, which has been her current fave for some time - and my oldest daughter (12) went with a nice simple Spaghetti with Meatballs. The gnocchi was divine, the salmon was perfection on a plate, and the spaghetti was just gorgeous, I'd have been happy with it myself, great flavours, generous, melt in your mouth meatballs - we were all hugely impressed. Impressed enough to come back the next night to get a takeaway pizza and another garlic pizza bread. Congrats to the owner - several national awards for steaks and other meals adorn the walls, and restaurant is a testimony to what can be achieved with good ingredients and care when preparing them. Tucked away off Grand Junction Rd in Holden Hill, Belmondo is proof that you don't need to travel into the CBD to experience some truly delightful food. Lunch is Fridays only - and it's very much recommended to book ahead - we haven't been there on a night that's not wall to wall busy.
