The Lumber Shack is a great addition to its community. The atmosphere is fantastic and the owners are continually upgrading the inside. The new AC helps out tremendously compared to before and I'm sure it will keep getting better. The chicken is always good. The porkchops are even better. The staff always tries to stay on top of things but it isn't a Michelin starred restaurant. If you go here looking for fine dining then you are at the wrong place. If you want a super cool venue with good food and atmosphere then this is a great stop. It can get hot but they just added AC to this historic small town building and keep making upgrades to what eventually should be an even more fun place with live music and entertainment upstairs. read more

But when it comes to getting service I give that a 1 star we sat there at the bar wasn't that busy ( Saturday 3-2-24 around 7pm ) 30 minutes later when we did get help the bartender acted like he was completely annoyed helping us.. I was tempted to give a lower rating because I was disappointed. My husband ordered broasted chicken it was tasty. Okra was crispy. I ordered the daily special "Cobb salad" so I get it and it's a chef salad. I looked up the definition of Cobb salad and cheddar cheese is not one of the toppings. After we left a my husband listen to me complaining about how disappointed I was. He tells me in the car that he saw another lady complaining about her salad and he thought maybe they just gave that salad to me. I'm SO glad they have finally opened! We have been watching this remodel project for many months! We have been to the Luther location and loved their outdoor area, but their inside seating is minimal. Also, we live in Choctaw and Harrah is much closer to us. First off, let me say that the chicken is scrumptious! They have other entrees (pork chops, tri-tip, burgers, chicken strips, wings, gizzards), but honestly, why? The whole or half broasted chicken is the star of this show! We have enjoyed all of the sides we have tasted, but I think the mashed potatoes & gravy is my favorite. Luther has jalapeno mac-n-cheese, which is yummy, but Harrah does not which makes me sad. I enjoyed the green beans at Luther and the slaw at Harrah. I have heard good things about the potato wedges & fried okra as well. (you can view the menu on their Facebook page) You order at one counter then your food will be brought to your seat. You serve yourself for soft drinks, water & tea or the bartender can serve you beer, cider or spirits. The Lumber Shack is very spacious with a variety of long tables, square tables, round tables and LOTS of bar seating. There are several TVs around in case you want to catch a game or whatever. Apparently there is a great outdoor area in development and even a plan for an upstairs area with pool tables, etc. and a stage for bands. Be forewarned that parking is not right in front of the building, it's down the street a bit or behind the building, and it tends to fill up quickly. If you are bringing anyone who has any difficulty walking you might want to drop them off at the door. If you want to avoid a line at the order counter AND be able to find a table, I would recommend you go for lunch at opening time (11 am), or visit at an "off" time in the afternoon or evening. The Lumber Shack is a great venue for enjoying fried chicken, a shabby chic ambience & people watching. They specialize in fried chicken, but offer wings & burgers as well. If you go on a weekend, they offer live music at their outdoor seating area. The people watching was perfect. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the fact that they charge .50 per sauce. read more

First time here and I liked it. There were six if us. The place is casual. You go to the counter to order your food and they'll bring the food to you. Fried chicken is the BOMB!! OH SO GOOD! Sides were excellent as well. However, when we finished eating, we sat at the bar waiting for a bartender to order our drinks. We waited for at least 20 minutes and it wasn't that busy. Bartender never came. They knew we were there, they saw us but never came. We ended up leaving. The same thing happened to the couple that were in our party. It's not good when the inside is as cold as the outside. It's like 34 degrees outside . Need a jacket to keep warm in the restaurant. I order the pork chop is which is pretty decent . The pork chop and okra comes out in a basket that made for hamburger fries . Waitress doesn't offer silverware or tell it where it is . Plastic knife and fork not great for a pork chop . This place is horrible, prices are above inflation rates food is worse than a buffet restaurant. The environment was about the only going for this place. Hot as hell in that place. When we left it literally felt better outside and truck showed it was 100 degrees. Atmosphere and their overall potential is the only reason I gave 2 stars. I didnt like how we had to pay the tip before we got service. I gave 20 percent n even told the girl I dont know yet. Server would have probably gotten a dollar bill for what she did. Brought out food and didn't want to give up cheap plates. Luther Chicken Shack far exceeds this place, unfortunately I live 3 miles from this one. Chicken was great as always but teeny bowl of baked beans were shriveled. Hooked us up with okra but side of wedges cost 3 bucks for basically 3.5 of them. Talk about shrinkage! I'm giving a 2 because of the service and people. The chicken itself is great. The sides are horrible. We call in because it is too hot to eat in here with no AC and fryers going on. When you call, they put you on hold and eventually just hang up. My wife personally went up there after being hung up on and stood in line only to watch the young lady behind the counter intentionally hanging up on people. Today we called early to beat the rush, and it was so loud they couldn't hear me. They then yelled at me saying sorry it is too loud to hear, then a man came on and was super impatient and rude. We are done. Not worth the hassle. Either put the phone in a quiet area, or turn down the music. Love to support local, but we are done with this place. read more

Well, it is a chicken shack for sure. Nice decor and very casual to roll up your sleeves and dig in. I got there early and waited for the rest of my party. There were only three other people at the restaurant whenever I ordered my whole chicken to-go. The restaurant started filling up after I ordered. I sit down and drink my iced tea while I waited, and waited, and waited. The waitress that was delivering orders to the individual tables continue to walk past me as she did her job. She never asked me if she could help me with anything either. After everyone in the restaurant had received their order I asked the girl at the counter where my order was two separate occasions. Again I waited and waited! I finally asked the lady working the floor or am I to go order was and she replied "Oh, it is ready it has been back there for a while. A few minutes later my order was brought to my table. I always check my order before I leave but noticed I still only you single servings on the sides I chose. My order was sort of correct but was room temp by now. I intended to eat my lunch from that to go order. I had to take it home and Nuke it to get it warm enough to eat. I hate Nuked chicken. Pretty good place for fried chicken and okra. It's a little overpriced for what it is but it's a large roomy place. Had a full bar too.

We went to the Lumber Shack restaurant last night to celebrate my Wife's Birthday. This was our first time there and we were so excited to see this old lumberyard transformed into a neat and colorful restaurant. Not only was it a great environment to be in, but the food was absolutely delicious. I had the 1/2 Chicken Dinner and my Wife had the Pork Chop Dinner and boy howdy we were not disappointed.....the food was totally awesome. We'll be going back again in the very near future. read more
