A couple of weeks ago my husband decided that he really wanted some fried chicken, we used to go to Popeyes but the service and quality of food sucks here in Huntsville. A coworker had told us that this Chicken Express was good, we didn't really believe it because we had gone to a different location multiple times and it was a bust. Freshness has been a struggle for them lately. Even during the lunch rush, the chicken isn't the freshest. The tea is usually fresh and good. The rolls are usually good. They often have shit on the tv that no one wants to watch or shit you don't want your kids to watch. read more

We had just escaped from the hurricane in Houston even though all the highways had been closed. I'm not quite sure how we got out of there but that's sort of typical of me to be honest. On the way up to Dallas there really wasn't a lot of good food available so we tried a little something in Conroe and then this is the little something that we tried in Huntsville. It's a regional chain with chicken and sides and drinks and service is nice and prices are okay but several products are particularly bland and unmemorable and not something you would ever go out of your way to eat I don't think. Nevertheless I support Regional chains more than National chains so three stars was going to be fine. However, the reason I give them four stars is because some of the items were actually memorable, so it all depends what you order - and the prices were good too. Certainly I was glad the existed. The chicken tenders and biscuits are delicious. On a recent take out visit the mashed potatoes were more like potato soup. I called to tell management there was a problem. But just as on previous occasions no one answers their phone. I had just left the place so I knew people were there. I left a message and surprise surprise no one ever called me back. I eat at a lot of these Chicken Express Restaurants because I love chicken and I love their tea. This location is very unusual in that they don't seem to like me," I'm Old". They often have attitude and cannot remember anything I say. I must say that they are really challenged with speaking clearly as well and if you are in the drive thru you might as well forget it. I have given up on buying meals to just buying a large ice tea. That in itself seems to be a challenge. While the other Chicken Express locations offer Senior Citizen Discounts and alse Happy Hour ICE Tea they don't offer it here. It was hit and miss and now it is not at all because it seems to be too taxing on whomever is waiting on you. So no Senior discounts for tea and no happy hour!!!! Rolls are why we go there, chicken strips are good too. Consumer service on the other hand is none existent. Last time I got biscuits instead of the rolls I ordered . They " forgot" my daughters side when she stopped there. The only complaints have today is their costumer service, which is simply not existent. Maybe management could retrain their employees? Hubby fell in love with this place a few years ago while we were visiting the Dallas area. There are none in Houston, but a few in surrounding areas. We normally go to the Magnolia location once a year so he can get his CE fix. Today we decided to go to Huntsville. This is by far the best location we have been to yet. Never going back again. Pulled up at 9:30, they close at 10, and they shut the lights off for the drive thru while I was sitting there. So I pull around to the drive thru window and I see them with a table full of chicken and sides. They ignore me for 8 mins. Finally I ask if I can order and she wags her finger at me. As the name states, Chicken and it's fast. They have good chicken and a wide range of side. Everything is fried so don't be thinking there's going to be a healthier option here. My wife and I went to Chicken Express at 623 State HWY 75 North, Huntsville, TX at 8:40 pm on 05/17/2019. We wanted to order the "10 piece Thigh Only for $9.99" special and they REFUSED to sell this to us. The reason they gave us was that another customer might come in after us and want a thigh, if they sold them to us then they wouldn't have a thigh to sell their imaginary customer. How does someone respond to such stupidity? Refusing to sell your product to an actual customer to save for a possible future customer? It was 8:40 pm on Friday, the store dosen't close until 10:00 pm. They should have the ability to prepare more thighs. Apparently nobody is watching this crew so they are taking advantage of their employeer. I would think that the owner of this business will want to know how their current employees are refusing to sell to their customers because of their own apparent laziness or incompetence. read more

Three stars because it's a very clean location which is hard to achieve in the middle of nowhere. But the chicken was just ok. We ordered the tenders and they are very large, all white meat and very juicy. The tender meal comes with a butter roll (pretty good) and a white gravy for dipping.
