Food was hot and fresh but very heavy. Cashier seemed upset to be there but hey, I get it. Fried pickles were good, jalapenos poppers were decent but the biscuits were the savior of the meal. This is the new general manager of chicken express, I took over about a month ago and let me tell you the reviews I have seen are atrocious and not without reason. I'm not sure what the old managers were doing but I assure you that if you give this store another shot you will see it has come so far in such a short time. Just found a long piece of black hair in my pickles, I have blonde hair and brown. The manager that helped us didn't seem to care of what a huge mistake it was especially during this pandemic. I had Chicken Express for the first time recently and wasn't impressed. The breading on the chicken and gravy wasn't really flavorful at all and it wa sa little expensive for the amount of food that you got. The mashed potatoes were great though! My husband got the fish and said it was okay, but hated the fried pickles (which shocked me because he usually loves them!). The staff was very nice, but food wasn't great. Sorry, Aiden C., things haven't improved since you took over. This evening about 6 pm I went to Chicken Express Commerce. The last two or three times I have gotten food here was disappointing, but I thought I would give them another chance, since I am a Chicken Express fan from way back. First of all, the person taking orders in the drive-thru lane put me on hold. While several cars lined up behind me I waited for her to come back and take my order. I paid at the window and then waited approximately 10 minutes to get my order, but I thought, well, they must be cooking it fresh, so it will be really good and worth the wait. WRONG. When I finally got my order and took it home, the chicken was and dry, and appeared to have sat under a heat lamp for at least an hour. And to add insult to injury, my order was wrong! I had ordered to sides of corn, but only received one. As I said, this has happened several times in the last couple months. Next time I want fried chicken, I will drive to Greenville. read more

Worst fast food place in town. Half of the time they won't even answer the drive thru, I have seen them lock the doors hours before closing. I have seen the employees fooling around in their cars in the parking lot, along with doing drugs during shift. The food is usually mediocre and soaked with grease (even for fast food standards). Well what can I say, it's the best chicken place in town... it's also the only chicken place in town.... so yeah. This is one of the few places though that you order tenders.... and they are actually tender, because they don't over cook the white meat. Really is a decent Chicken place. Warning: The Sweet tea is really, really sweat. Oh, and ask for the Lunch Special it's $5 for 4 tenders, a side, a bread (biscuit / roll) and a medium drink that is really a large. Also at the end of the night like right at 10 if you drive up and ask about the ten dollar deal they will sell you a box of chicken and sides for only ten dollars so they don't have to throw it away. Great food. I've been eating Chicken Express since I was a little kid with my grandparents, so many great family memories with the Commerce Chicken Express. It has changed locations several times over the years but it is my favorite restaurant anywhere, period. Get the chicken tenders, French fries, and jalapeño poppers. read more

First time I had Chicken Express in 2012 when they were at their old location (across the street from their current location) and I basically had it for breakfast. At first, I was thinking, "fried chicken for breakfast?" Then after receiving my order and taking my first bite of their fried chicken, I became an instant lover of Chicken Express. I live in California and we have a fair share of good fried chicken, but recently, the quality of fried chicken in California has declined. Yet, every time I come out to the Commerce area, I make it a point to stop by and get some Chicken Express at their Commerce location. Their food is consistent fresh and tasty and their employees are always courteous and friendly. I went to the Chicken Express in Greenville (thinking it would be the same), but that Chicken Express in Greenville is terrible compared to their location in Commerce. The Greenville location's food was cold, stale, and overly greasy, but at the Commerce, the food is always good. My favorite item there is their fried pickles. Can't get enough of them. Also, I never had a corn nugget before, but after trying them at the Commerce Chicken Express, I found a new tasty treat to indulge in. If you are craving fried chicken and in the Commerce area, this is definitely the place to go. read more

WOW!!!!!!,what a service!!! My daughter and I odered the (4) piece dinner and got (5) instead,great right!? Well until I had ate about (3) pieces and found a hair in one of my tenders done altogether!!, Now my family and I have ate here many times and the food has always been great and service very friendly so I simply showed my hairy food to the managment (Terry). Well we have all had bad experiences with differant services from food industries to home service industries and how our problem is handled with the management sets the ground work to wether you will ever use them again and this is where my story is great. In the past other food places would have given me a simple sorry and maybe a free meal ticket( for my meal only) Right!? Terry took it to the next level and completely refunded my money for both meals and was very sorry that we had to experience the hairy food. Thats great service folks!!! Things happen in even the most controled environments and this will not be our last visit to the best chicken house in the south and the sweet tea is great too!!!!
