Best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Nothing can beat their frosted lemonade. Waffle fries? Are you kidding me? Best fries ever created.

It's just how you'd expect a Chik-Fil-A should be. Only wished there was one closer to Alameda.

They should have more people working there, everytime I go buy, they are always out of fries and spicy chicken sandwiches.

If you've read any of my reviews to would know that I'm a sucker for hand-dipped chicken strips. I…read morehave literally been all over the country searching for the best hand-dipped strips. I downgrade restaurants that switch to frozen. With all of that said, the best hand-dipped chicken strips in the country at the moment are in SLO, CA at Jay Bird's Chicken. The young men working the counter were quick and seemed to enjoy their job. The cook in the back smiled as she carried out a tray of fresh chicken before she got to breading it. The setting in a small group of restaurants meant everyone was able to choose what they wanted - even if it wasn't chicken strips (everyone went with the strips!). It was a welcome break from seafood at Pismo. We'll be back if we're ever back through SLO.

I…read morehonestly don't care for coleslaw, but took a chance and decided to keep it on my sandwich. So glad I did! It adds texture, crunch and neutralizes the hints of spice from the battered fried chicken. Speaking of the battered fried chicken. It was perfectly golden and seasoned. Not too salty or spicy, but just enough to make my tongue tingle. In a good way of course. I couldn't finish my sandwich because it was huge! Not complaining, but it doesn't take me much to get full either. Perfect size for those with bigger appetites. The crinkle fries were good, but overcooked, dry and cold. Wish they would have been warmer because I love crinkle fries. I also ordered the Arnold Palmer, which unfortunately was way too sweet for me. Aside from those two consthe chicken sandwich was the winner here and I would totally come back for it.

This restaurant is a fifty's style diner like Ruby's. There is another location in Pismo beach but…read morethe menu looks different. This location in San Louis Obispo is in a small strip mall. The service was excellent. The lady who helped us was very friendly and kind and checked back on us. The restaurant was pretty deserted on a Wednesday between 4:00-5:00 for any early dinner. This a great time to go if u can eat early to avoid any rush. We got the patty melt, chunky monkey milk shake, an onion rings, and a margarita. Everything was just ok to good. The margarita was just ok flavor. It was not bad and they gave u a decent amongst of Tequila in it. The patty melt was not the best we ever had but it was an above average classic patty melt on rye, which is hard to find. Caramelized onions were good, cheese was melted, rye was crisp but not rock hard as at lesser places. The pinion rings were not over fried, the onions were crisp but cooked so not stringing and hard to chew like lesser quality ones. They were fine plain, the mark of a good onion ring, but also good with condiments--not over breaded. The milk shake was classic with the standard glass soda fountain and silver refill shake cup on the side. The flavor was very good. Had a lot of chocolate chips. We definitely recommend these guys for a burger, fries, and shake. They have alcoholic shakes too, but we went for a standard drink instead. Would come back here.

The honey butter is of course a classic spread, but give the seasonal jams a try. Blueberry jam was great, can't wait to take it home and add it to a charcuterie board. Chicken: got chicken strips. The breading was nice and crunchy, with a seasoning on it. Had hot honey to dip the chicken, the red pepper flakes l really make this a hot honey. Side: cucumber tomato salad. Be prepared, it has a kick from the vinegar but it nicely balances out the other flavors. The perfect bite: piece of chicken and biscuit dipped in hot honey topped with the tomato salad. Don't judge, I loved it. Searing: plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

I wanted to like this place but some things were kind of meh. In their defense, what I ordered was…read morereally hearty and thick and I should have read the menu more carefully. I ordered the Piggy Wiggly (wiggy?) which had bacon jam, strips of bacon, and ham. It was just overkill; I didn't think they'd put so much everything. The service was also oddly slow. A few people went up to the counter to double check on their order. It was really busy since we went The Weeknd before Easter and there was an Easter egg hunt going on for children but other than that it was pretty casual. The biscuit itself was delicious; I just wish I got something more simple. I'd be willing to try it again with something else lighter on the menu.

As college staff taking students on a Central Coast campus tour during spring break, we needed a place for lunch on short notice. When I called, the staff was incredibly helpful and connected me with Caitlin via email. Not only did she respond quickly, but she was also kind, flexible, and truly accommodating throughout the process. From the moment we arrived, everything was handled seamlessly. Organizing a group of our size is no small task, but the team managed it with professionalism, patience, and genuine care. The seating was thoughtfully arranged, service was efficient, and every member of our group felt welcomed and taken care of. The food came out in a timely manner, was well-prepared, and absolutely amazing! It was so nice to see everyone enjoying their meals, and it really added to the overall positive experience. Even when we decided to order dessert at the last minute, the staff remained gracious and accommodating. We are incredibly grateful for the effort and flexibility shown to us. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone--especially those planning group events. Thank you for making our visit such a success!
