An awesome gym catered to first timers and professional fighters. Best gym in the area in my opinion.

It is a small independently owned gym with a family feel that is run by Coach Sonny and his wife Tricia. I thought it might be intimidating since some of the members actually fight in competitions, but Coach is really great at starting you with the basics and pushing you forward when you are ready. Even if you will never fight, Coach will train you the same as the fighters to get your form and technique as good as possible. There is a wide range of abilities and goals, but everyone is supportive of each other and egos are left at the door. I liked the gym so much that I signed up both of my kids for the kid's class! In addition to Muay Thai, jiu jitsu, judo, and Krav Maga classes are also offered. There are two bathrooms, two changing rooms, and the gym is always clean. The prices are a little higher than corporate gyms because it's a small indie store, but it's well worth it for the personalized attention. They encourage you to try a class for free to see if you feel that the gym is a good fit, so really, what do you have to lose? (Nothing - you're going to love it!)

Quite possibly the best place on earth…read more I've never written a review for anything, but you best believe I'm going to wax poetic about this place. You can't ask for a better place to train muay thai in the city of Chicago. This training facility has been my second home since I started here. It's one of the only authentic muay thai facilities near Chicago. A lot of places claim to train muay thai when they actually teach a glorified version of kickboxing. If that's what you want, great, but for real muay thai and amazing instructors, Aiki is the place to go. This is one of only two gyms in Cook County certified with the U.S. Muay Thai Federation, and the owner, Rick Sollo is a force of nature. This place has trained champions. If you want to take your fight career seriously they will get you in shape. They're also incredible with beginners as I started out with no martial arts knowledge. Dario, one of the trainers, took the time to make sure I knew the basics and sent me videos and training skills to practice. Here's the rundown. Reasons why you should train with Aiki: small classes, intensive training, experienced instructors, authentic muay thai, regular seminars with internationally renowned thai champions, excellent mix of pad work, bags, and conditioning, supportive environment. Most places will run you around $80-$100 a month. You pay half that with Aiki for more one on one training in a small gym environment. What this means: You'll improve quickly and leave class sweating, exhausted, and feeling awesome. If your goal is to fight, they will get you there. Just want a good workout? You'll get the best one of your life. But more than anything, Aiki's community is the warmest group of people. It's always hard walking into a tight-knit gym for the first time, but the Aiki family will welcome you like you've been there for years. Come check out this amazing muay thai gym in Rogers Park. If you're like me, you'll catch the muay thai bug and never look back.

I trained here a long time ago (I think 1990 or 1991 when I began) when it was in Skokie and then…read moreCicero. Rick Sollo was both an inspiration and a mentor to me and taught me authentic muay thai as he was taught in Thailand by the great teachers of his day. Rick has trained a whole lot of champions and some word champions. Best place in Illinois for sure as far as quality instruction goes. This place has a 35 year old history people--that is tough to find. I emphatically endorse Aiki.

The mat chats with Sensei Alex at Victory MMA are everything! He is a cool dude and understands what is truly important in life. As a parent, it is so powerful for my son to hear these messages from Sensei. My son carries this joy and focus with him to school and into our home. We have been attending MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) for a year in the 4 to 7 year old class. I love being on the bleachers in the dojo to watch the class and hear the mat chat. This helps us reinforce the message at home and also practice the moves of the month. It is very easy to get acclimated to class. Sensei Alex is kind and has a genuine passion. There are also a number of "Sensei Dads" that take the adult class and help out with the kids class. They are all such lovely people! Everyone has a smile and is excited to be in the dojo training. The energy is contagious and the kids have a lot of fun while also learning discipline, confidence and focus. We are so grateful to be part of the Victory family!

My son has been a student at Victory MMA for about 3 years (back when there were only about 4 kids…read morein the class). My hopes honestly were just to get him introduced to the mat in preparation for his future wrestling career in a way that wouldn't get him burned out like so many kids I know that get forced to wrestle at such a young age. This has turned out to be so much more than that for him. He learns more about respect and honor and making good habits than he does anything else. I've seen my son grow not just as a martial artist, but as person; inside and outside of the dojo. Sensei Alex Krotiak is absolutely amazing and it is no wonder that the class has gotten so popular that he had to add another youth class due to the overwhelming demand by parents to get their kids in his program. I absolutely love this place and all they do, I can't say enough good things about it. I would recommend Victory MMA without hesitation to anyone looking lead their children down a fulfilling journey of respect, discipline and of course, self defense.

I came in a real skeptic because you hear that CrossFit is a cult, and it's bad for you if your starting from scratch blah blah blah... 1. They scheduled one on one time (Coach Gabe) to walk me through the movements AND repeated them over and over AND gave me the substitutions I should walk into workouts with. 2. 1st workout (Coach Joy) welcomed me to the community, we did an icebreaker before the workout and she made sure to modify as I needed! 3. 2nd workout (Coach Kate) gave me her Bada$$ girl power energy and lots of encouragement! She started setting goals with me Day 3! 4. 3rd workout (Coach Jr but we call him Spice) made me push myself past what I thought I could do. This workout wasn't about lifting as much as it was doing what you have never done and finishing. He asked "but did you die tho?" Now, I didn't die and I realized I was tougher than I knew. The owner posted a YouTube video which he took down within 48 hours of posting stating he was in financial debt and having financial struggles and therefore was closing the gym. In the time I was out, my friend (who is a member) decided to buy me a 3-month membership worth $510 for me to get back into the gym, she specifically told him "it's going to be OK that she is not coming back until Feb 2025 and he said there was no problem" he listed the expiration date as 03-31-2025. It was shady to sell this membership knowing you were closing the business, and the membership would not be valid. I reached out, and asked how we can remedy this and asked for at least a partial refund back to the original purchaser since the membership was invalid. He has made no attempts to contact me back, I also made a claim with Better Business Bureau which he hasn't responded to the claim. I would avoid his new gym he is opening, due to shady practices.
