I let our subscriptions lapse this year though. We just weren't getting what we wanted from a local paper. Too many articles about TIF tiffs and political squabbling- and some surprisingly hateful cartoons- turned us off. I love online community comment boards, but WJ's online comments were just ridiculous to read. Someone would make a valid comment and then 5 "regulars" pounce on them. I stopped commenting, and then stopped reading the comments all together, as that forum is just a headache. Overall, I think the Wednesday Journal does a nice job with sports, obituaries, and features. I'd love to see more features and stories about local folks doing interesting things, but that's a pretty limited aspect to this weekly paper.

When you want more information on something local, the Wednesday journal does not even mention it. The columnists are a little obnoxious and one of them is a bigot and is sometimes disrespectful to certain groups of people.

I'm not as big of a fan of some of the monthly columns, but I think the feature stories are well-written and highlight so many interesting families in the Chicago areas. I also look forward to the Special Parent editions, for parents of children with special needs. When my children were younger, I'd read Chicago Parent cover to cover every month. It does appeal more to parents of younger kids. I'd love to see stories of older children, even older teens. The photography in the magazine is very nice. And it's a free monthly!! The website is nice, too. I always check out the contests & give-away section. I've won some things, like free tickets.

I can't believe I'm the first one to write a review about this place. Maybe it's because they are…read morelisted as Ill Enterainter Magazine instead of their full title, Illinois Entertainer Magazine. No matter, here's my 2 cents. This was the magazine of choice for me for many years. I loved picking it up from the local music story every month. The problem lately has been to many ads and crap articles. I want more reviews of concerts, albums and tours as well as interviews and photos! I feel like it's more just sales ads and band listings anymore. Still cool to see them in print. Not many doing that anymore. I'm still a fan.
