I bought a 2018 BMW Alpina B6 (the 600HP/200 MPH "family car"). Luis, the sales rep, was outstanding - as was Jack, the GM and their former finance manager. Luis immediately took a video of the car and sent it to me. Jack made sure the deal took place as agreed upon. They also arranged enclosed shipping. Jeanette, the office manager, was also very good on follow-up after I contacted her. The car was excellent in every respect upon arrival. Note that this would have been a five star rating if documents had been handled a little more quickly. Full payment was electronically transferred on January 16th, but title wasn't mailed until February 17th. Due to weather, I didn't actually receive it until February 23rd. I had to do a lot of explaining to avoid the late registration penalty at Arizona DOT. Nevertheless, I would have no reluctance to do business again with this company. "I wish I had read the Yelp reviews first." The car itself is great -- no complaints there -- but the tire situation was a real disappointment. I was told the tires would be replaced within a few days; instead, it took two weeks (and I live two hours away). When I finally got the car back, they'd installed non-EV rated tires, which can be unsafe at highway speeds. After reaching out multiple times by phone and text, I've been completely ghosted. I ended up spending $1,400 out of pocket to replace the tires myself with proper EV-rated ones. The dealership's written promise to replace the tires wasn't honored, and ignoring customers after the sale is simply unprofessional. Notice that management rarely responds to reviews -- good or bad -- and that says a lot. Do your due diligence before buying. Don't get swept up in the excitement of the purchase like I did. I regret my experience with Chicago Auto Place and want to warn others about what I believe are deceptive practices. I entered into a deal for a Tesla Model X that ultimately had to be rescinded. Even after the deal was canceled: 1. Loan Never Properly Unwound - Wells Fargo Auto still shows the loan as active, even though I no longer have the vehicle. Wells Fargo has confirmed that the required paperwork must come directly from the dealership, yet Chicago Auto Place has failed to do this. 2. Vehicle Condition - While the vehicle I was purchasing was being "prepped," the salesman admitted they damaged the door sensor while installing mats. This raised serious concerns about the quality of the vehicle and how it was being handled. 3. Earnest Money Still Withheld - Despite the deal being rescinded, my earnest money has not been refunded. This money was due back to me immediately, yet the dealership continues to delay. The result is weeks of stress, an open auto loan on my credit file that should never have remained active, and out-of-pocket money I still haven't recovered. I strongly caution anyone considering doing business here: be very careful, ask for everything in writing, and understand that my experience suggests they do not handle transactions in good faith. I purchased a BMW vehicle and find out after a few days that it isn't drivable due to malfunctions prior to my purchase. I checked Carfax and all, it was "clean" .. Yes , they pulled it in and told me it was good to go (because I purchased an extended warranty for 3k ) and a couple days later I find out they made it worse and won't pay for the re-repair since they maxed out the warranty they even told me that their mechanic doesn't know what he's doing and recommended a different auto shop but I'd have to pay 4k out of pocket. Horrible establishment! I found an Audi A6 there that was priced well & ended up purchasing it. Looking back, there were so many warning signs but I foolishly looked past them. We live many hours from there & I set up a time to test drive the car only to arrive & see it still inside. It took hours for them to get motivated enough to move all of the cars & finally get it outside. When I said I wanted to have it inspected at an independent shop on my dime before I made a final decision; I was told they don't allow that because others won't have the chance to buy it when it's away. When we showed up to do the paperwork, all of a sudden, Thijs tells us that Jack won't take the agreed upon trade-in price & it's now much less. We had to negotiate for more but definitely did not get what we were told before. We have over 800 credit scores and were told we'd be given the best rates as a result only to show up to 5.9% listed on the sales agreement. We figured we would just refinance at our credit union after & still proceeded but should have left. I had asked Jack, the so-called manager, & Christina in financing, numerous times before our arrival what our rate would be & they never gave it to us. They just kept reassuring us that we'd get the best rate. They tried to sneak in an expensive warranty & did get some bogus vin etching charge past us even though we declined both & the car had no such etching on it. We were told numerous times after the purchase that it would be refunded. It never was & we were basically told that we should have known what we were signing. I'm such an idiot!!! Thijs, the salesman, was initially very nice & helpful but suddenly was almost impossible to reach once we brought up problems, as was Jack. I seriously thought I'd have to drive there to get answers. For some reason, they hold onto the second key fob like a bar of gold. We were told we would get it & the Audi car mats at the time of purchase. Turns out there were no car mats & they now would have to mail the 2nd fob. We didn't get it until well after the purchase & I had to practically beg for it. When the temp tags that we had been issued were set to expire & our plates (which we paid for already) hadn't arrived, Thijs instructed me to just go to our dmv & do the registration & get plates & they would promptly reimburse us. I did just that & guess what? They never reimbursed us! Such a shady, unethical establishment. Three months after purchase, the car caught fire after shutting it off & going in to do some shopping. These folks may as well hold guns on you as you buy, because they are crooks. I bought a Saab convertible from them. When we test-drove the car at Chicago Auto Place, an indecipherable dashboard light was on. When we asked about it, our sales consultant told us that the light indicated only low tire pressure. Later, we learned that the light reflected engine trouble, not tire pressure. We bought the car, which came with a limited warranty. A couple days later, my son drove the car from Bensonville to Peoria, more lights came on. He pulled over, checked the oil, found it low, and added some more oil. He drove the car to a Saab service center, where the mechanic removed the engine pan and found piles of metal shavings. It was a totally destroyed engine. The mechanic told us that the shavings interfered with the circulation of oil, which would reveal the full problem only as the engine heated up. So a short test drive would not expose the problem. We towed the car back to Chicago Auto Place, to make sure there was no further damage. As we were well within the mileage and time parameters of our warranty, we assumed that the dealership would refund us for the car. At this point, we were not upset and were actually expecting to buy a different car from them. But the employee with whom we spoke told us that by adding oil on his own, and not taking the car to a mechanic to do so, my son had probably caused all the damage to the car. They refused to refund us for the lemon they sold us. We take this for a shamelessly irresponsible deception. But it gave us insight into the people we are dealing with. We had to get a lawyer to threaten to take them to court before they refunded us for the car. Never buy a car from these people. They are simply crooks. They knowingly sell lemons. I barely made it to Audi dealer where they found all the spark plugs were gummed up and the ignition coils were fried. After fixing that, the very next day the engine light came back on for another issue. They won't even fix one thing and it's within the 15 day warranty! I purchased a 2007 yukon said to have 139k miles from Chicago auto place in October 2020. The dealership looks amazing with 50 to 100k cars everywhere. Luis my sales man was very nice and everyone seemed approachable. I arrive and took it for a test drive and Everything looked great until I noticed the odometer wasn't working, but Luis my salesman said that I was probably a fuse and that they would get it taken cared of... that was my first mistake. During the test drive I felt there was a knock and pinpointed that it had a faulty engine mount. And the drivers window controls wouldn't work.. I brought the issues up to Luis and he assured me it would get fixed before I bought it. When it was fixed i came back up with a cashiers check and took it for another test drive. This time within 10 min the check engine light came on. They check the code and it was an O2 sensor. They said that if I bought it they would fix it another visit. I also noticed the odometer was still not working. I asked Luis and he said that they would not fix it and I would have to on my own. A car fax was presented to me and stated the last check in jul it was at 139xxx miles. I purchased the vehicle and had the odometer sent out. When it came back the vehicles ACTUAL MILES WERE 169XXX MILES!!!!! to top it off when I brought the vehicle in to get the O2 sensor changed, the mechanic CHANGED THE WRONG ONE. I told them to just send me the part and I will fix it myself THEY SENT ME WRONG WRONG PART AGAIN!!!! They eventually sent me the right one only after I had to tell them the correct part number to order and send me. I brought the miles up to Luis and after a long back and forth... offer of 200 dollars compensation and a drawn out process with the BBB NOTHING WAS RESOLVED. All I was looking for was fair market price on the vehicle that was fraudulently sold to me with misrepresented miles. When confronted about the issue the owners said I was lying to them even though I had a certified statement about the mileage. This place hinges on shady practices and doesn't care about its customers. Luis was very helpful to his extent but the ownership and management are complete scum. Never paid my bank the pay off for my trade in! I was being charged by my bank for my new vehicle AND my trade in vehicle! Effected my credit because I was only paying on my new vehicle because for some reason, I thought they would have paid for my trade in. I am looking to buy another car soon which just reminded me of my experience with Chicago Auto place when I bought my current vehicle. I went in to buy a Cadillac that I called and set up an appointment for. Saw the car and I liked it. I was asked if I would be interested in any other cars to look at to make sure that there wasn't something I liked more. Hey now that's a great idea and nothing wrong with that at all. I saw a few cars but decided To stick with the Cadillac. When they were doing my financing they said that I was not approved for the Cadillac but I was approved for an infinity I looked at (which cost more and I didn't really like the car). After thinking about it for a few minutes I declined told them thanks and was about to leave. As I was walking out the salesperson asked why I was leaving and I told him I wasn't really interested in the infinity but thanks. He told me give him a few minutes. He came back a minute later telling me they found financing for the Cadillac. Looking back at it now I'm pretty sure that they had other people that were interested in that car and were trying to save it for another possible sale while getting me to buy a different vehicle. Financing goes good and the next day they even get me a better interest rate than I agreed upon who've was good. Now here come the issues. There were minor things wrong with the vehicle. The speedometer did not work. The back bumper was crooked because they said a porter hit a pole. The air conditioner will blow hot air if it's hot outside or cold air if it's cold outside. I was told all of these issues would be fixed. Now here's where I f***ed up. I set an appointment to have it taken care of and I get there after an hour drive to be told I have to reschedule because they can't get to it in a timely fashion. Ok np I understand. Reschedule and bring it back. Car is there for over a week and go pick it up. They fix the bumper nothing else. Tell me they need to order parts for the rest and will call when they are in. I have their warranty they sold me also. I never get a call. I call them multiple times and was told to come in. They give me the run around about everything. I talk to my sales guy and he said he will take care of it. Never did anything. Called multiple more times to get more of a run around. What I end up doing is researching myself how to fix the issues and just replaced the parts myself. But now that it is time for me to start shopping for another few vehicles for my wife and myself this just gave me a reminder to never shop here and to warn everyone else don't waste your time here. I won't recap my whole miserable experience here again, but let me tell you a quick story about the "service manager" Brendan. He gave me a loaner, that i looked up while I had it because Jack the manager told me that was a "safer loaner" It still had the 2 recalls on it from a bit ago on it they never had fixed. One being when the airbag deploys it shoots shrapnel metal. I tell this to Brendan when he comes to retrieve the car from, and he says " ohh....is it doing it now? I can't speak for their entire staff but Robert Weinberg and his sales manager were remarkably rude to me. I was prepared to purchase a car from them (for cash) but I wanted to take it 6 miles away to my mechanic to be inspected before confirming the purchase. I sent an email explaining the situation 1-week in advance and I called twice on the phone to confirm. After making the long drive over to the dealership, they were rude and disorganized. My mechanic wouldn't be free for more than an hour so this gave them time to find the car which they had promised would be waiting inside for me. I asked if it would be a problem to wait an hour for the test drive and they said it wasn't an issue. After sitting for an hour at an oddly placed dining room table in their cold showroom, it was time to go. Suddenly they changed their story. They said, "If you don't agree to pay 9700 immediately, you can't take it for inspection." (It was advertised at 9900). I reminded them that we had traded emails, phone calls, and made verbal agreements; that I had spent much of my day waiting based on their promises. I told them I didn't want to buy an "As-Is" car without having it checked. Instead of discussing this with me, they began to raise their voices and insist that it doesn't need to be inspected and that they had never agreed to anything. BEST CASE SCENARIO: I think that because I had showed sincere interest in purchasing from them, they thought that they could save time and money by yelling at me and behaving unprofessionally. WORST CASE: They knew something was wrong with it. What was bizarre is that they could look me right in the face and lie about conversations we had just had an hour before. Chicago Auto Place is a well-managed FULL dealership with very personable and caring people. I couldn't thank them enough for saving the day when other dealerships were giving me the run around. They made me feel welcomed and they treated me like a "real person" - & NOT JUST A CREDIT SCORE!!! They all worked together rather quickly to handle my situation with care. Ricky & Zeeko got me the deal I wanted & they all still know my name when I return for service! VERY CLASSY AND FRIENDLY PLACE!!! I had a great experience! I would recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking for a nice car & with challenged credit!!! :) UPDATE (08/13/16): They have nice "eye-candy" cars, but after a few weeks of signing my finance docs, I had to go back a couple of times for maintenance & mechanical issues that I eventually had to go to a Benz dealership to actually get fixed properly. They sold me a 2005 Audi A6 - I was told the car was inspected and in perfect condition when I bought it. Since everything was "perfect" I forwent their warranty plans, seeing as I already had a family mechanic. 3 weeks later I was in there asking them to stand by their business and fix what they had said was wrong. I was told there was nothing they could do about it because I didn't have a warranty. I had them run the diagnostics ($75)and they gave me some bs estimate of almost $1000 for valve cover gaskets and rear timing gaskets. Needless to say, I went with my family mechanic who will be doing it for just about half that. But say I did buy the warranty, wouldn't I be paying the warranty PLUS the new bill? And why would I have them do work on it when it was just inspected by them? THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother with them. Told the sales rep that we were driving to BUY the car and wanted assurance that it was in perfect condition. Asked that they not wasted our time or theirs. We were assured that this was the case, the car was perfect. Car appeared excellent but would not start, battery dead. They drove the car into their shop and said they put a "new" battery in it. When we drove the car home, 200+ miles, it started to snow and the defrosters would not clear the windshield. Jan 22nd took the car to the Green Bay Chrysler dealer. Told that the battery was dead and this dealer replaced it. Also replaced the thermostat, flushed the cooling system and told us that the heater needed a new core. Made an appointment Feb 4th to the core replaced. First bill $595, estimate for the heater core $1,300. None of these issues were visible to us. Here's a run-down of my interaction with this business: 1. Saw the car on AutoTrader, sent an email about a car and received a canned response. 2.  Stopped in the showroom to look at the car and talked to Edgar(?) who showed me the car but didn't really know anything about it. 3.  Received a follow up email and phone call from Rheizelle 4.  Called Rheizelle back to set up an appointment for Tues at 3pm to test drive the car knowing that the car was buried in the showroom and would take some time to move outside. 5.  Arrived at the dealership at 3pm.  Was told Rheizelle was with another customer and was assigned yet another salesperson to show the car. 6.  The car was still parked 4 cars deep in the showroom even though I had made an appointment to drive it at 3pm! Took 20 minutes to get it outside. 7.  The salesperson knew nothing about the car.  Told me that they had over 300 cars on the lot and the couldn't possibly know about all of them. 8.  Test drove the car and, upon closer inspection, found very poorly done body work.  Mentioned it to a manager who told me: "Yup, that's right. It is what it is"  When asked if there was any room on the price of the car and if there were any summer tires with the car (It had winter tires on it) I was told, "nope, take it or leave it.  What you see is what you get". 9.  Received and canned email today saying they haven't heard from me and they were hoping you could "earn my business"!! Disgraceful and dangerous car sold. I work as a manager in the auto industry, I took possession of a car a few weeks ago. I got pull over by the police for not having working lights. The dealer told me the car apparently passed safety and emissions, the police told me it was a death trap, no way in hell it passed safety. The steering was shot, the engine mounts ripped, engine mounts, among many failures for the car that was supposed to be in great condition. I will be making a call to DMV aswell as the owner. We would never allow this dangerous car to on the road, let alone selling to a customer. This was suppose to be for my son. The sales person is AWOL and the manager has not returned my calls. I am extremely disapointed. read more
