Cut the thick part of one brow side ways.

I've gotten my eye brows waxed two other times here and they did a good job. Last time the lady took her time and we talked the whole session. She was very nice that day. Well their tipping system is very flawed. They require you to use an ATM which has fees to pull out cash. I didn't have cash and the ladies attitude seemed off when I didn't tip. I knew the next time I went I'd be sure to bring extra cash for her. I went today and she was a completely different person. She didn't talk at all and was super rough pushing my head side to side to get to my brows. She started off with cutting my brows with scissors, then used a face exfoliating razor to cut the tops and middle part of my eyebrows (all things I could have just done myself at home.) She finished with wax on the bottom part of my brows and didn't let the wax cool down before apply it. It was way too hot. She didn't even apply any soothing lotion to finish. She said I was done and began to walk out. I was right behind her and she shut the light off and pulled the door partially closed in my face! I had to abruptly stop and pull it back open. I was shocked by the way I was being treated. When I examined my brows the ends were super thin and worst of all she had cut a side ways angle on one brow leaving it looking terrible! I paid and even left a tip today and considered it pay back for my previous good service done by her. This review serves as todays tip and I won't be back.

Went for mani/pedis in preparation for a wedding. I'll start with the "manager" woman. She was very rude, loud, pushy and essentially forced us all to get gel nails. Here was the bride's experience. Pedicure: she wanted a French pedicure and some flower art on her big toe. Her "technician" told her no to flower. That her nail bed too short. It would not look good. Then she wanted a sheer blush manicure with a sparkly ombré fade. Technician said she get special wedding nail. Her nails too short for the ombré effect. Special wedding nail = French manicure. Confused how that looks any better on a short nail than ombré? So basically the paying customer, the bride, got nothing she wanted on her nails for her wedding. My experience. My nail tech was very quiet - quite the contrast to the loud and pushy manager sitting at chair next to us. She kept trying to tell me to get gel on my toes. No. I can go a month or more without the polish chipping. Gel pedicure is a waste of $$, imo. I will say that he did a decent job for the pedi. Could've used a little more smoothing on my rough heels, but satisfactory pedicure. For my mani, I picked a sheer pink and wanted a rose gold sparkle ombré fade. He actually went out of his way to help me find the right glitter polish, so I guess that's the 1 for the review. He shaped my nails to my liking and did a fine job with the polish. The ombré effect was meh, but all in all it looked fine enough. The questionable part of the experience was sanitation and their manicure technique. There was no warm soapy nail soak. He did not use a cuticle pusher, but instead used a dremel. On my natural nail. I've never had anyone use a dremel on my nails before. Seems to me that's the lazy, fast way to clean off the nail. (All the nail techs used this "technique". The bride has ridges in her nails from it.) As far as I could tell, the instruments weren't sterilized, perhaps ever. He pulled the used cuticle nippers, file and buffer out of a basket from his drawer. So, I guess it's no surprise that a few days later I realized my middle fingernail was INFECTED!! It is now a little over 2 weeks since I had the manicure and I'm on antibiotics and my finger is still swollen, red and painful to touch. All that said - unless you want to get yelled at, get badgered into getting gel nails, not get the design you want, get an infected finger and pay too much for it - STAY AWAY FROM CHIC NAIL SPA!!

    What I asked for

Had a bad experience from start to finish. I'm not one to leave bad reviews, so you know it must've been bad for me to download the app and take the time to leave this. I asked for a special design and was willing to pay the extra price, no problem. I showed them the picture multiple times and was told that it would be no problem to do. The service was pretty terrible; stopping to talk to other workers during the entire service, cut my skin 5+ times, made me bleed twice (didn't even wipe it off just painted a clear coat over the blood), told me I needed a completely new set when I asked for a fill, and then failed to mention you couldn't leave a tip on the card so I had to pay a fee to take cash out (even though I asked beforehand if they took card). At the end of the day I was charged $50+ and didn't receive what I asked for at all.

On the left we have the inspiration photo. On the right, we have what Chic Nails and Spa considers an "ombré".

If I could give this place a 0/5 stars I would. My fiancé went in with a photo inspiration for an ombré style, but an ombré is not what she got. Store owner was condescending, rude, and visibly rolled her eyes multiple times throughout the interaction while insisting that her work was the same as the photo. Waste of 2 hours. Do yourself a favor, skip this place and walk down the street to Nail Bar, you won't regret it.

What I requested and what I actually received...

SUMMARY: Don't waste your money on unqualified technicians and very poor customer service like I did. I have been coming to Chic Nails for years when visiting family in the KC area. Service was never great but the end result was passable and the location is convenient, so we settled for good enough. Unfortunately, after today's debacle, I won't be back. I asked for ombré nails with dip powder, which I have gotten there before and was reasonably happy with the outcome. A different guy attempt it this time and, despite telling me he could do it without issue, he did not appear to be experienced. I questioned him multiple times about using black as the base and fading to maroon but he assured me it would work and the lighter color would show up fine. The photo shows what I asked for (and was told would be no problem) and what I actually got, which is an epic fail. By the time he finally admitted that I was right, I didn't have another hour and a half to waste for him to start over from scratch. I asked if he could do anything to fix them. He insisted on putting glitter on all nails, instead of just an accent finger, which is the exact thing I told him in the beginning that I DID. NOT. WANT. He said he would do better next time and I told him there won't be a next time, at which point he laughed. I asked if I had to pay full price since I didn't get anything close to what I wanted and my nails look absolutely ridiculous. The manager said he would not charge me for the ombré design so I would save $10. I told him I was most definitely not paying for the design that was removed from my nails because the technician messed it up but I should get an actual discount after my horrible experience. (For the record it went beyond the design... a different tech nearly burned my nails when removing the old polish with a grinder and my tech cut me while doing the cuticle trim.) The manager agreed to give me a $5 discount and a coupon for a fictitious next visit, which was more of an insult than anything else. Since they made no effort to sincerely apologize or compensate me for my wasted time and actually cost me money given that I now have to pay to have my nails redone again, I will no longer be a customer. Chic nails is mediocre at best on a good day but today they crossed the line into unacceptable territory.i

Went last night for a dip. Place is nice and clean. Staff is so nice and very accommodating. I had a coupon I printed down from their site. You can find coupons in Value Packs but I didn't have any at the time. I was in and out in less than an hour. One thing to note is they prefer cash. I think they add a small amount if you use a credit card.

Rude, poor customer service, and dirty place. Went to get my nails done and got cut bad!

This is my wife's feet AFTER coming in. My wife told me they only spent two minutes on her feet.

My wife and a few friends went here this past weekend. My wife came back with blisters on her face and her feet look like the way she went in. The polish came off the day they put it on. I'm calling them demanding a refund!

I've never had any type of nails stay on past a week. Usually they are messed up by day 5. So far it's been 13 days and my dipped nails still look great!

Went here yesterday after work and this was a great experience! I had an awful dip polish done in independence and Jonathan made my nails look even better than I imagined! He was super nice! I was telling him about my other experience and he was educating me on how dip nails are properly done! He took an actual class on doing them instead of watching YouTube videos like apparently A LOT of people do! I will continue to come here, this place is fantastic!

Left over glitter from my old nail polish. Lots of excess cuticle and skin. $55 Pedicure

I signed in and sat down to wait. Shortly afterwards I heard someone yell, "I'm ready for you!" I wasn't even visible to the person yelling because I was sitting. I stood up and asked, "are you talking to me?!" RUDE! Helen encouraged me to try the new collagen pedicure, which was nice. Before starting I informed her that I wanted a good massage. I unfortunately had to encourage her to slow down and massage my feet and legs a little deeper, instead of just rubbing them. Meanwhile, I watched (with envy) the lady next to me getting the exact same pedicure, only she was getting a superb deep massage. No matter how much I tried to coach her, she just wouldn't do it. I would've gotten the basic pedicure if I had known that my $55 collagen pedi didn't include a stellar deep massage. Mani was ok. Oh and BTW, the cash price is different from the credit price. Hence, the ATM that requires a .99 cent banking fee at the front of the salon.

I really like this place. They may not be the least expensive, but you pay for quality. I won't go anywhere else.

I'm usually leaving a nail salon feeling so disappointed and I could not be happier with the service I received from Kim and Gina on my visit to Chic Nails.

Not only for me, but for my daughter as well. T. is extremely rude, has a weird behavior of requesting my personal phone number and "hide" it in a drawer, still don't know why she did that. She was sooo rude, always in a hurry, not even asking me to wash my hands before painting my acrylic nails, which is a fundamental step for good results. Others like Kim, Vicky and another one that I don't remember her name were rude, and/or did not do a good job, my nails were different sizes and again the "hurry up" method somehow was adopted by this once reliable nail place. Disappointed and moving on to a much better place.

I haven't had one since last year before I got pregnant (yikes). I was sadly tending to my toes at home and well, ot was not working. My sister scheduled an appointment for Sophia to do my pedicure. Kim does her nails. I sat down and the water was perfect in the tub..my feet were immediately like "this is nice". Sofia started and began with the scrub. It was scratchy at first but then was pleasant. She went on to remove the horrid dead skin from my feet and I felt sorry for her. Again, been a year and me trying at home was more.like buff off the hard parts kind of. She got the deaf skin off and my feet felt like pillows. So soft! Because its been so long, my feet were super sensitive and that sucked but, it wasn't her fault. She painted my toes (gel of course in a nice dark lavender). I'll definitely be back to get another pedicure in 2-3 weeks. My Feet are thanking me and yours will too. As for Sophia.
