Joanne was recommended by my superior realtor, Chimene Pollard. Joanne staged a house I rehabbed in Oakland for sale in 2013. She also did the colors for my home's interior in Alameda in 2014. Joanne also teaches staging professionally. She did an incredible job. In short, her knowledge makes the $$$ difference. Joanne doesn't just place furniture nicely in your house. She placed the furniture to accentuate the best elements of the house--in my case, the large opposite-facing picture windows, the fireplace, the antique tub, the hardwood floors. She even staged the back yard. Here's the difference she brings to a project: Joanne advised on several stages of the process, not just the final stage. She advised on the setup of the kitchen, both placement and finishes--cabinets (glass/no glass), appliances to install (or NOT install--very important), the color/material of the countertops, sink style, tile surround and floor. I didn't expect that her choice of light fixtures would create such an ambiance. She chose all the colors for the house, interior and exterior. She matched the finishes to the style and era of the house, in concert with her knowledge of CURRENT MARKETING TRENDS. A good stager must keep abreast of the trends in real estate: style, color, materials, etc., what's the NEXT new thing, not just what everyone has now. Joanne will also tell you what NOT to stage. There are instances when furniture should not be used, in some rooms or not at all. (Aside: she kindly consulted on the colors of my personal home interior and light fixtures, though that is not her main business. After using her for the sale of my investment, I was convinced no one should ever paint their house without an expert, professionally trained colorist. The difference between just one or two shades of a certain color, the touch of grey, etc., is her forte. You may like a certain color, but she will tweak the hue and pitch to make all the difference in the world.) My 2 cents for sellers: put your trust in someone like Joanne. That is, let her take the burden off. Most people want to "help" in the specific choices--don't do that. The goal here is to make the most money on the sale as possible.
