Whether you're in the mood for a full…read moretea service and accompanying delicious snacks, or just want to pick up some delectable chocolates to take with you as you wander through the streets, this place is not to be missed! Meert is also a great place to pick up little boxes of their signature chocolates to bring back to your loved ones - a little symbol of your adventures "on the Continent." I think I probably brought back a dozen little confectioner's boxes (and managed to keep one or two for myself). Come holiday time, don't miss Meert's awesome window displays! This and some of the other businesses around La Grande Place make wandering the streets of Lille in the cold winter months worthwhile!

I try to choose a new one each time and I've yet to be disappointed. The baked goods are for the most part typically British and all are delightful looking! I've tried a scone and some shortbread and was pleased with both. There are also a few hot plates offered - soups, little pies, etc - which I haven't yet had the opportunity to try. The carrot cake is supposed to be particularly good! The upstairs area is cozy with a few comfortable chairs, couches and tables. When there's not too many people it's the perfect place to relax and read a good book. The downside is that such a small space can become easily crowded and thus loses some of its charm. Overall, a good atmosphere and a worthwhile detour if you're in the area!

On top of scrumptious looking pastries (cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies...) as well as savory (which I did not try), this place offers a variety of interesting teas. I had the "Bushwick" tea and enjoyed every drop. As a tourist I was happy to find out one of the owners (Melanie) speaks English and was very helpful! Bonus, free wifi! It is also very well located. Overall, it's a very cute family run business and I will be back before I leave!
