We enjoyed the random storm and the new friends, but were a little surprised at the burger, as it is not what we usually have in the US. More like a loosely formed patty, served very rare. Very good, but a bit off putting if not expected. The star of the show was the charcuterie board, delicious and massive. We split it and the burger and still couldn't finish it all. A fun place that is relaxed and clearly has several regulars. While they do close in the evening, there is no rush to finish and leave, as people stay for hours after drinking, smoking and enjoying the evening together.

But, we were in Provence, we like to eat specialities of the local region wherever we go, and bouilliabasse is a specialty of the region. Our hosts highly recommended La Bouillabaisse. You have to order the bouilliabaisse 24 hours in advance, which we didn't know until we got there. And, the restaurant was fully booked for that evening. We also didn't realize that reservations were a must on a weekend evening even in September. We came back for dinner Monday night. By then, we were getting cold feet and wondering if we'd made a mistake in ordering the meal. But, we went through with it and are both glad we did! The broth, not a tomato base as we'd expected, was deliciously seasoned, the fish, a large selection of shellfish and fish, perfectly cooked. Nothing had a "fishiness" smell or taste as all of the ingredients were as fresh as could be and truly delicious! I wouldn't make a general statement that this restaurant is good for children but the staff was helpful and atttentive including to our toddler, who eats a variety of food and enjoyed the bouillabaisse.

Oops! I think this may come out in the wrong category..I do apologise…read more This cafe is not a five star gourmet restaurant, but it does do great food, as well as coffees and alcohol at any time. It is the bottom half of a typical French house; long windows with shutters and juliet balconies. It's part of a terrace on the waterfront, house and cafes all jumbled as only the French can do. Like the rest of village, the cafe appears sleepy, with perhaps a couple of patrons sitting in the sun with a coffee or carafe of wine. Inside, it is surprisingly cool and although simply furnished, you some how fel at ease. The barman will greet you in French - Var, similar to Marseillase. Talking liking wide mouthed frogs (no pun intended but please enjoy the humour). A pleasant man, he is not insulted by any mistakes you may make in his language and will patiently repeat his dialect until you understand. The food here is great. A small menu, but sooo beautifully done. Once, I was here while expecting my daughter, and once I had tried the moules, I was a goner. Every where we went, I had moules nearly every time! (The French think we are quite mad, avoiding certain food during pregnancy.) So here is a great place to watch the marina, the ferry come and go, and the occasional child being called to.
