It was busy the day we came here and we were lucky to get a table without a wait. Food was good. Fromage plater had 2 nice sized cheeses with a small salad and bread. Cote du boeuf was a nice piece of Steak topped with onions and served with French Fries. This made for a nice lunch. Add a nice choice of locally made champagne and it's a very enjoyable meal.

We had a wonderful meal here our first night in Epernay. The space is small and cozy and they keep…read morethe heat up! We experienced this all over France, actually, in mid-November; I think as compared to NY, they tend to keep the heat up higher when it's chilly/rainy outside. We quickly got used to shedding our coats and possibly a layer of clothing whenever we entered a restaurant!! We chose different tiers of their prix fixe menu to suit our palattes desires, and were absolutely blown away by everything that was presented to us. We did the champagne tasting, so we each got a total of 4 glasses of champagne. I loved 3 of the 4 -- the rose that came with dessert was not for me...but I'm not a fan of rose generally, so this was to be expected. FOOD. OK. Bread was obviously perfect to start. For appetizers, I got the Oysters Saint Vaast Gratin with a champagne cream sauce -- delicious, not fishy, very filling. My husband got the Baked Eggs with Chaource Cheese Cream and I think we both almost cried with tears of delicious, delicious joy. This was probably the best thing I ate over our entire 11day honeymoon. If I wouldn't gain 50lbs as a direct result, I'd learn this recipe and eat it every day. It's almost like a soup made entirely of egg, cream, and cheese. It is so decadent. It has been almost a month and I still think about it every day. Entrees - I ordered the Cod fillet in a velvet champagne sauce over squid ink risotto - excellent. Perfect sized portion had I indulged appropriately in the bread and appetizer phases of this meal. Would get the same thing again if I went back. Husband got something that I either didn't care to try because I was filling up so quickly, or something I tried and didnt love. I can't remember exactly. Could have been the beef tenderloin or could have been rabbit something or other. I think it was rabbit........not for me. But he reported that it was wonderful, so 5 star continues. FINALLY, dessert. I got the trilogy of cheese...because why not. Husbadn got the creme brulee with vanilla bourbon ice cream. Both were delightful. We ate a few bites and rolled our way out of there. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone passing through Epernay. Our airbnb host recommended it to us and I am so glad we picked this one out of the small list he provided. I'd return in a heartbeat.

The food is excellent so the 4/5 is not representative of that, it's certainly a 5. But the…read moreexperience is what was lacking. Incredibly small place that requires a reservation and they pile you on top of one another. Very very hot inside and plan on being there two hours the service is very slow.

If you just show up at dinner time, you most likely won't be seated unless it's a very slow night. Rôtisserie Henry IV has a multi level floor plain, with a slight rise to the second level, maybe three steps, but it allows for a lovely overview of the restaurant. The menu is in French, so pull out your translation app, our waitress spoke passable English, which was great, because we spoke passable French. My wife ordered a farm salad with roasted chicken. There was so much chicken in the salad, she couldn't finish it. I decided to try the French version of Barbecue pork ribs with a side of fries. (Don't call them French fries. And don't ask for French Onion soup. You wouldn't order an American hot dog). The ribs weren't exactly Texas bbq, but they were quite good. These were not "fall off the bone". Quite tough to separate with a butter knife. But the glaze and flavor were very good. The only disappointment was the fries. Limp, Lukewarm. McDonald's has nothing to fear. For a packed, high end restaurant (we graduated from Bistro), prices were very reasonable. Service was very attentive. A solid choice if you're in the area.

Yay! I am a fan!…read more Well this place was actually recommended to us by Philippe Brun of Champagne Roger Brun as the place were locals would go to have lunch and I have to say he wasn't wrong! This place is basically a spot to have lunch in the town of Ay. The place basically service local cuisine of roasted meats in various preparations from ribs, to leg of lamb to what I can only assume is some variation on a kebab to roasted ham (amazing) that could be paired with locally produced champagnes from Philliponat, Roger Brun, Billecart-Salmon just to name a few. We were hungry but that doesn't the diminish the quality and quantity of food. I ordered mixed grille and my wife the leg of lamb and some appetizers and everything was amazing. We didn't have any champagne at the restaurant because we were going to the tastings but next time we will.
