I stopped by there earlier today with my wife and daughter to use the bathroom. We already expected…read morethat the bathroom was going to be filthy and a dump like most gas station bathrooms are. To our "TOTAL SURPRISE", this bathroom was way cleaner than any Starbucks bathroom (Starbucks prides themselves on how clean their bathrooms are every single time). The bathroom was not only clean, but it smelled really clean and fresh. According to Ali (the owner), he prides himself in keeping the bathroom clean for his customers! Way to go Ali! We appreciate you very much, thank you for doing this. I know a lot of people don't think much of the service or staff that work at gas stations, but I do! They are people too and they too work for a living just as much as I/we do. You are no different than any other service provider out there. You provide a service that is in need to run our society and economy. Without you, where would we go, or how would we operate? We came from Seaside, OR over an hour away and I was running low on fuel fast. I was so scared that I was going to run out of fuel and I would be stuck in the middle of the road with my family. Our water pump went out and we knew it was going to be hard to find a mechanic on a Friday night let alone a Saturday! Thankfully we had it towed to slates corner with in 5 minutes from calling a local towing businesses. Thankfully he could fix it! First thing Saturday morning he got the new water pump and began the repair. The kids and I sat in the store chatting with the owner Darletta and her daughter Lilly. They are amazing people, made my little family feel completely welcomed. Our car was fixed by noon and we were ready to head back on our first family vacation ! The cost of the repair was extremely cheaper then what we are used to. I could not believe the amazingly fast and friendly service we received! We will always stop for gas and snacks every time we drive on hwy 12 on our way to he ocean!

Shortly before we were due to leave I discovered that the motel we were staying in did not provide ice. I used Yelp to find the nearest convenience store and called to verify they had small cubed ice for sale. The clerk assured me they did and I drove right over. I wish I had the man's name. He was truly exceptional in customer service. He recognized me as the woman who called. He proceeded to make a bag of fresh ice for me so the cubes would not be stuck together when we filled our water bottles and small chest. When paying I tried to tip him. He said all tips go into a jar for the local animal rescue. We got into a quick conversation about my adopted kittens and his tiny little chicken. I left with a smile on my face. A simple transaction had turned a stressful situation into a delightful part of my day. I will be sure to use this location again when visiting Astoria.

The automated car wash looks like it's seen better days and it's not working anymore and they don't want to put any money into it. The building needs to be cleaned on the outside the rust removed and repainted and inside. I don't think I've ever seen a more disgusting bathroom. It almost looks like it hadn't been cleaned in days and smelled terrible. For being the only gas station in town, you think they would take pride in their business and keep everything functioning and clean, but whoever owns this place I believe they're just in it for the money and they don't put any into the business.

Since it is a tourist area, once the summer has gone and fall winds down, many of the local businesses shut down for the winter. This can make finding restaurants that are open hard to find. Moclips Country Store was recommended by the staff where I was staying. They had a good variety of grocery items for such a small convenience store. I was able to try their pizza a couple times and found it to be very good. The only drawback was I had to call many hours ahead, because they hand make the pizza dough the same day. They have a pretty good selection of hot food items available, and if you want something special, your request just might be granted. Other than that, I found everything I needed for my short stay in the area. As far as other items of interest, they had a little nook off to the side that had children's books and a few board games available for purchase. If you are ever in the area, Moclips Country Store is a great little convenience store to patronize. I highly recommend!
