Disclosure: I have struggled with poverty and homelessness in my early life. That said, just once, I would like to get my gas without someone harassing me for my money. Whether it's the guy who takes it upon himself to clean my windshield without my permission, or the woman who gets irate with me because I won't give her "gas" money, I just want to get my gas and go. The gas station across the street is 10 cents cheaper and doesn't have the parade of crazy going on. The Quick Stop market serves COLD coffee. When I asked the attendant about the room temperature coffee, he told me to microwave it. The inside of this store is absolutely disgusting. It is also California law that paying customers have access to free air and water but these people didn't get the message. I had my window broken while I was pumping my gas and my purse was stolen from back seat! Scared the sh** out of me. Thank God I did not have my grandson in the car! I was standing right there! There was a sign saying don't leave valuables in the car. Thank God I didn't have my purse on across my body like I normally do or my throat may have been slit! DO not get gas in Oakland. I had just filled my car with gas and returned to the drivers seat when a black sedan pulled up quickly next to the passenger side. A person jumped out of the vehicle stooping down next to my vehicle and tried to enter my car through the passenger side back door. I had locked the door, otherwise they would've gotten in... This is Gotham City indeed. Do not come to this station (or Oakland Airport), due to the assembly line crime here...gangs of thieves just hide in cars by gas stations for travelers in a hurry to gas up their rental car on the way to dropping it prior to a flight, knowing they haven't heard about this crime wave, are in a hurry and probably won't bother filling in a police report before leaving for the rental car facility (thereby providing room for the next group of victims to arrive at the pumps). The station attendant noted this sort of robbery now happens every 15 minutes or so. We had a backpack and computer bag stolen from trunk of rental car on a clear day at 3pm, during the ~5 seconds I had my back to the car swiping a credit card at the pump. All of the luggage was out of sight in the trunk, but the the thieves were apparently waiting to quietly open the trunk and grab the first two bags they saw, jumping into a getaway car and speeding away through the station when I noticed them. Different gang members were able to rob two additional vehicles at this station at the same time. The thieves even drove back by the station several times to see if new victims had arrived while the three of us were comparing notes for the police report. Local residents trying to help brought over purses they saw being thrown into nearby fields, but these belonged to yet more victims. The rental car company said I should be glad they used the trunk and didn't break out a window, which is frequently done. The rental car shuttle bus had multiple groups who had also been robbed, some people losing their ID and all their luggage, at local gas stations, and were wondering how they would get on a plane without ID. I was robbed here about 3 months ago. Do not get gas at Oakland airport offramp to the Hegenberger Rd Chevron! There are about 20 robberies a day there! Taken from my police report.... I pulled up to get gas before returning the rental car at Oakland airport. Prior to pulling into the gas station, I noticed the outside parking lot was mostly empty, and nobody near me but a parked Ambulance (looked safe). When I was done getting gas, the Ambulance driver came out of nowhere, walked towards my car, then veered off to the front door of the gas station/ market while talking on the cell phone (probably saw my backpack in the passenger seat and told his friends). The pump did not print a receipt, as always (is the gas station in on it?). I started to walk to the door to get my receipt and noticed an unusually long line inside. I turned around with the key fob in my hand to lock the car door, then a car slow down next to my car and opened the passenger side door and took my backpack (about 4 seconds) as I was trying to find the rental car button to lock the door, but it was too late. I then jumped on the hood of his small grey car hoping to cause some damage, then rolled off the car as he moved forward. I walked inside and asked "Did anyone see that I was robbed?" None of the 6 people with a view of my rental car through the window saw me jumping on the hood of the car. When I walked in, they all were looking at me, like I was another sucker! I believe some of them were in on the scam causing a delay at the register. I told the Hertz car rental attendant at Oakland airport I was robbed. He asked if I got gas at the Helgenberger Chevron! WOW ....he reads minds! He proceeded to tell me that 4 other people were robbed that same day, and how many other people were victimized that we do not know about from National, Thrifty, Dollar ....? How many were robbed and did not bother to report it? He said some do not not realize they were robbed until after they got gas and opened the trunk at the car rental lot. The gas station has several cameras. I am sure they would have gotten a license plate if they had one. 911 said there were 124 other cases ahead of me, it might take a while! It would be better to fill out a complaint online. Later the police informed me that they are not allowed to chase them. About 3 days later the police called me up and found my backpack with my jacket and my Audi car key inside. Apparently they don't want anything with trackers on them so they just steal your phone in your computer for the most part. I was robbed on July 30, 2023 at 10:30am at this gas station and lost my purse, phone, cash and credit cards. They snatched my purse off front seat as I got back in car after pumping gas in rental car I was returning. Store told me their customers get robbed 10 times a day and Oakland airport said airport personnel avoid this area. The store employees were no help and appeared to be part of the gang activity. Police do nothing and there is no signs to warn tourists near airport to avoid this Chevron gas station. read more

This gas station is the most dangerous place to gas your car. I was robbed after getting gas to return my car rental. As I returned to my car, started to drive off My trunk was popped open by two black kids who grabbed my suitcase and briefcase from the trunk as I was ready to drive off!! This is a racket, other folks who saw what happen tells me it happens at this location all the time and nothing has been done to stopped the theft. Granted math is not my specialty in school, but let's see if anyone here can understand the math being used at 451: a new, XL soda is 1.19. Refills of same are $1.89. I asked them about it and they seemed embarrassed at being caught (as well they should). Asked for a new cup since it's 70 cents cheaper than a refill. Then it was let's make a deal. How much do you want to pay? 1.49? A dollar? The small is 1.59; refill 1.49. That's the closest you get to savings. I said 1.49 was ok. Walked out paying over $1.70. They're crooks. yes. I am reviewing a gas station. I only use Chevron gas in my car. . . i don't know it's some weird, warped brand loyalty. I am rethinking that . . . I didn't need gas but I did need air in one of my tires. I put a dollar worth of quarters in the air machine and it didn't turn on. I went inside an asked the person at the counter to please turn on the air. He said it will turn on and I said no, I put in a dollar and it did not turn on. He said it would. It didn't. I asked him to please turn on the air and he refused. I was getting frustrated and instead of arguing I just left. I used to stop here to get gas twice a week. Never again. Garbage gas station with their gas pumps that are not well maintained. Went up to one pump, slide my card in and it doesn't pump gas. I walk inside and ask the guy and he says it's not working, pull into another one. So I backed into the one behind me and this time it says go see cashier so I said f that I'm leaving, and canceled the transaction, or so I thought! The screen goes back to the same greeting, enter Safeway card blah blah, so I thought it was canceled. I then leave and what do you know bank of America is calling me saying there is suspicious activity on my card and there is a charge of $126! Of course BOA took care of that, so other customers beware of these shitty maintained pumps or else you'll be a victim of fraud! To the owners that's what you get for not maintaining your facility, someone got free gas and I'm not paying you for it because of BOA's awesome fraud protection so you lost money! read more

This is the most depressing gas station I have ever been to. Yes I know its a gas station but wow the customer service is -0 if the guy behind the counter seemed any more angry I would think we were going to get in a fist fight. The gas pumps are horrible it took almost 5 minutes for the pump to start working correctly and when it did its one of the slowest pumps I've ever used. The inside seems disheveled and you can tell that the employees really don't care. The female behind the sandwich counter was so rude to the customer she was helping I can't believe she stayed and actually bought her sandwich. Shady...buyer beware. Used my credit card outside to pump gas. An additional large charge shows up on my credit card statement. Called the Chevron to inform them of their mistake and let them know there may be something fraudulent going on. I stopped to get gas after leaving the Oakland Airport. This is the most convenient station. It was crowded and the pump I was able to get ad a sign that said please pay inside. I went inside and was told the Supreme/Premium gas was all they had. I needed gas so I said okay and paid with cash. Put $50 down and went to start fueling. When I reached the pump, it looked as if the Regular was working just fine, but I picked the Supreme, because that's what I was told was working...I didn't want to mess anything up and have to go back in. I had a pretty strong feeling that I was lied to about the type of fuel available. I have emailed corporate with an official complaint to see if it can be looked into. It just didn't seem right. i do not usually write reviews of gas stations . they sell gas and usually over charge for any item they can, I will make an exception for this dumpy place. Night one , at 1:00 a.m. I entered the store and attempted to buy a bottle of wine. The clerk refused to sell it to me , claiming that no place in Oakland can sell alcohol after 12. I asked him where the AM/PM store was and he said there was no store nearby. BS!@! two mile down the street was the AM/PM.. Yes I was able to buy wine after 12. second night , my daughter wanted a sandwhich so I purchased one from this store, since it was close to our hotel. No Mayo in the package . I went back in and purchased drinks to go with her sandwhich and I used one squirt of Mayo from their hotdog stand. The clerk would not let me leave the store as I now owed them for the mayo that I wanted to put on the sandwhich I purchased. Really , he would not let me leave , not only was the place a mess with folks accosting you when you entered and pumped gas but the clerlk I dealt with has to be one of the rudest humans working in retail . What next , charging for grains of sugar to go in your coffee? Extra charge for cream? I put Mayo on a sandwhich that they sold and they tell me that I cannot leave their store until I pay , how do they come up with an extact price per microgram. Hey I tried giving them a second chance to correct the rudeness and incompetence of night one. Go elsewhere . Around 12:15 in the afternoon, I went to this station to purchase gas and air. Proceeded to get gas with my credit card. Once I finished getting gas, I went over to the air station to fill up one of my tires that was low. I went inside to tell the gas attendant to turn on the air. He said I did not get gas. I told him that I just purchased it with my credit card just a few minutes ago. He looked on his terminal and told me I didn't buy gas. You need to pay a dollar for air. I didn't carry any cash on me. Showed him the credit card that I purchased it with and the pump I pumped the gas out of. Also letting him know how much gas I put in.I continued to argue with the gentleman and he would not giving me free air that I was entitled to. He was not going to give me any air for any reason. Nice looking station until you put the nozzle in your car. I about feel over. I got panhandled at the Shell station 10 years ago at 4:30 in the morning and it scarred the... out of me. Guy says he just got out of prison and needed a few bucks to get a meal. I'd seen him on a bike as I pulled out of my hotel and needed to fill up before returning rental car. I've told that story so many times, I was so pissed I just took the car back empty. Today I pull in Chevron at 4:00 PM bright sunny day put the nozzle in and guess what, same dude. He says hey just got out of prison, I say "I KNOW YOU", he jumps back says "you do not" I said yeh you hit me up a few years ago and got out of prison then. He says"I've never been in prision before", I said guess so, he says " oh that was ..... prison". Then he says well can you help me out, I said heck no I helped you out before. Worse experience at a gas station ever! Pumps wouldn't take card had to go inside along with 5-6 other customers who were having he same problem. Didn't bring my ID inside so had to go back to car to get and they made me wait in a 6 deep long line. They were incredibly busy and here were easily 3 other employees 2 of whom were chatting and milk in around and who was leaning on the lotto machine staring at the line. read more
