This review JUST MIGHT give you gas... But maybe not the kind you're expecting! Back in September, I was on my lunch break and I wanted something different. And by different, I mean, I wanted some Tacos from a different taco spot then I normally go to ;) So there I was, driving around looking for somewhere to eat, but nothing, and I mean nothing looked or sounded good. Have you ever had one of those days?? I seem to have them more than I want them to happen. And just when I was about to give up and just go through a McDonalds drive-thru... It was like a sign from God himself that presented itself.... Right. Before. My. Very. Eyes. The sign you ask?? It read: SALSA MEXICAN GRILL And it was right on the side of a building. Hey, nowadays... I'll take any miracle I can get. But here is where things got interesting... The Mexican Grill that was located inside the building was attached/apart of..... A Chevron Gas Station!!! I mean, Jesus did turn water into wine... So, turning Gasoline into Tacos isn't that far off right?? I don't know about you, but normally any kind of food from a gas station... Yes! A Gas Station, is a HARD NO from me! But I was desperate, but was I really that desperate for Gas Station tacos?? But then suddenly I had an enlightenment. I remembered what they always told me at Sunday school from my childhood.... "Just Have Faith" So I pulled into the gas station lot, parked right out front and off I went into the Promise Land! As I walked in, smelled the tacos that were cooking on the grill top, I wanted to throw my hands up and say, "Hallelujah!" Suddenly, I knew it was time to put my Faith to the Test! So I ordered 3 Carne Asada Tacos and I put the tacos to the test! Not gonna lie..... The Tacos, Those Gas Station Tacos were...... HEAVENLY!!!! Yeah, they hit the spot! But know that... This Gas Station is more than just 87, 89, & 91 Octane. And it offers more more than just snacks, and sodas, and of course a Mexican Grill where tacos will have you questioning your faith (in food from a gas station)... Yes, They even have breakfast burritos... And for lunch, they've got Tortas, Enchiladas, Burritos and even Fajitas de Camaron... Yeah, this Chevron is definitely a one stop shop for fueling up your ride, filling up your stomach and living a happier life! Cause Tacos make everything better, right?? So... The next time you are rolling through Canoga Park on fumes praying that you make it to the gas station before your run out of gas... There's no need to also pray for Tacos.... Really nice man working at this Chevron, Singh. Only needed a car wash and I got one. Sad, though, that my car still wasn't too clean afterward. Maybe my car had gotten too dirty. Surface filth was removed but now a layer of dirt film seems trapped under the wax. Sigh. read more

I love the food . They have the best tamales. My favorite is the chicken or cheese . I also like the egg bacon Burrito and bean burritos.

LUIS is the best!! I am a Car Wash monthly member of this gas station and one day. The camera wasn't reading my plate so luckily one of the workers was nearby. I waved him down. He literally ran over and fixed it and he was so polite such great customer service. read more

Ordered some tacos and fajitas here and the food was so bland and underwhelming. The meat had no flavor, the beans were most likely from a can, and the rice was just a waste of space. Great Mexican Food at a Gas Station? Yes! You'd never know it from the street but go inside and grab their 2 tacos w/ rice and beans special for only 6 bucks! Made fresh while you wait from quality ingredients -- they also have alot of other Mexican food which we will try another time. Owner of the place was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed -- as you can eat inside or there are a few tables outside. It's funny to think that a gas station serves some crazy delicious tacos, but trust me when I say this one will make you re think gas station tacos. Located at the Chevron on Vanowen and Fallbrook, this little gem is in the back and has quite the menu. My suggestions are easily getting a taco plate with Asada and pastor and the other thing being the burritos and quesadilla. Everything here is delicious. If you are getting gas, definitely go inside and order a few as you will be missing out if you don't. Also, make sure to get some of the salsa. Be careful though as it can be pretty spicy. Overall, these tacos are better than your average Mexican restaurant and will definitely impress once you try. read more

Tapatio up the street is way better. Burrito didn't blow me away. Wasn't awful. Just okay. Not a ton of flavor. Even more, the guy behind the counter working the grill and making the food wasn't wearing a mask and was carrying a pistol on his belt. Both are a bit off-putting. read more

The taste of the food here is always good. I have yet to get my order made correctly. Their ranch is amazing that goes with the fries. When I order fries I don't like them unless I have ranch so of course I order fries with a side of ranch. Then on the packing of my order I have to remind them the ranch where this time they don't have any. Also have to ask for napkins and salsa. I have loved this place and been a patron for 20 years. The food has always been fantastic until today. There was a new person cooking and he was also helping out up front as a cashier. Maybe the owner? Anyway, we ordered a breakfast burrito with was 75% rice and lettuce. Who puts lettuce in a Mexican breakfast burrito?! It had NO taste. Also ordered carne asada tacos and carnitas tacos and they too had NO flavor. Couldn't help but wonder if they are trying to make the food for people that don't like authentic Mexican food? The reason I've come here for two decades and brought 25+ people here is it is legit Mexican food not watered down bland food. SO beyond sad to say goodbye to this place, but I don't think we will be back with the current guy cooking. OK I have no idea why anyone would give this spot a four out of five stars on yelp but somehow someway they have it. Chevron grill has nothing special or unique to ever make me come back I ordered a bacon and cheese burrito expecting something with a unique taste and fresh simple ingredients that even a grill and a gas station could have but unfortunately I was given a burrito that tasted like mostly beans a sauce did not work well for breakfast and a bacon strip that tasted more like ham, no crunch at all. I've had hole in the wall burritos before and surprisingly a lot I have been good. Unfortunately, chevron grill is not one of them. Went here because I was really craving a breakfast burrito and it had great reviews. I got the bacon egg and cheese. Eating it I could tell the rice and beans were premade and warmed up so the rice was stale and the beans were basically room temp but I could get over that. HOWEVER the bacon seemed very undercooked! I'm the type that likes my bacon crispy so I thought maybe it was cooked all the way but just not to my liking. Eventually I just took out all the bacon bits and continued eating the rest of the burrito. About 30 minutes after eating the burrito I got VIOLENTLY ill! I'm not sure if it was the undercooked bacon or the old rice and beans which who knows how long had been sitting out or a mixture of it all. Please take my warning do NOT eat here!!!! read more

My personal favorite breakfast burrito is the egg and bacon with everything, but you really can't go wrong if you prefer a different protein or even the veggie burrito. I enjoy the food here but wish there was consistent hours of operation. Online says they are open until 8pm. I come in at 6:30pm and am told they closed at 6pm. I come in at 6pm and am told they closed at 5:45pm. I come in at 5:45pm and am told they closed at 5:30pm. Yet the advertised hours still says they are open until 8pm. I can't win. I would love a burrito but I'm feeling like they don't really want business and if it's after 5pm I don't feel like driving there just to get my hopes up for their food and walk up to a closed sign because chances are, they closed at 4:45pm. For a gas station with a full grill this place is awesome. They have full breakfast and lunch menu and the guy behind the counter us really fast at preparing food. Took him 15 min for fajita a saba with fries. Prices are ok but it needs larger seating area because it gets busy here at lunch from local offices and people getting gas get lunch here all the time. Also I found out when using your vons card you get 10 cents off if you have reward points. Anyways I avoided the car wash because there is always a line to go on.. guessing because it's cheap when you get gas. Overall good place for gas and a quick lunch. read more

The food here is actually good. I'd give the food alone 4 1/3 stars. The reason I give it 3 stars overall is because of the customer service on weekends. During the week, the gentleman who mans the grill is nice and will gladly answer questions you have about the menu and pricing. The woman who works there in weekends, Patty, isn't quite as pleasant. I usually order the same burrito but I always ask for the beans and rice (which are included in price) to be placed on the side. She always insists on charging an extra $3 for this, which is mind boggling. I hate when my wife makes me come here on weekends just because I hate dealing with this woman. Tried out this joint for dinner yesterday since my wife wanted to try out Mexican food in California. After a tiresome round of our weekly shopping decided to check this place out. Chevron Grill is located in a Gas station and my alarms were full on tempting me to turn back and search for some other joint. But our empty, grumbling tummies said otherwise and we went expecting the worst. And BOY were we wrong !!! My wife ordered the Veg taco plate, my son went with the taco de pollo and I went with Chile Rojo Burritto. Thr sweet lady who is also the chef warned me that it was very spicy and I went " I am from India and I am sure I can handle it. " Little did I know that I was in for a surprise. The Burritto was SPICY alright and I was sweating profusely all over but it was so nice and delicious that I couldn't stop myself. It was the good kind of spiciness that made me go for more. The Beans, Rice, Sour cream and Guac turned out to be great !! As far as my son and wife were concerened, their comment was " It's AMAZING and so different !!". We complimented the chef and she was all smiles. Will we go there again? -- You bet, we will !! Thanks Chevron Grill for introducing us to " Real" Meican food. We loved it !! read more
