I stop here almost every time I'm passing through town on my way to or back from Humboldt County. This is a great place to stop and stretch your legs. Yes, the gas prices are higher, but it's a Chevron in a tiny town. I get it. The real gem is the store. The people that run the place are so friendly. The bathrooms are clean, lots of selections for food, snacks, drinks, postcards and a small souvenir section, I haven't tried the milkshake machines, but I hear they are good, and they do have very good coffee. Prices are reasonable They have a good deli and sandwich section, and if you are simply looking for something deep fried? There's plenty of that too, lol... The best of the best! This local family and their employees put their all into this station. They offer a little bit of everything, lots of delicious food options, friendly staff and a clean facility. To top it off, this business has supported the community in countless ways. The buy local 4H animals at fair, sponsor countless sports teams. As well as donate money, food, coffee, ice and their space to every school and community event and group that come to them. Never would I normally go out of my way to leave a review for a gas station but this place is super nice! They have really good sandwiches for only $8, local baked goods like carrot cake and cookies, lots of other nice snacks as well as good coffee and one of those freal milkshake machines. Everyone working was super friendly and efficient. Plan on coming back next time in driving up to Oregon. read more

The Chevron station in town, its a gas station it serves its purpose. This is also about the only Chevron "gas" between Willits (south) and Eureka (north) on the 101. So if thats your station and you are needing fuel stop, otherwise you are in the middle of nowhere. The isles are wide and there are several pumps available and this location can be ridiculously busy during the summer season with travelers. My most recent stop to top off before the next leg of wilderness getting home, was as usual. Half a dozen vehicles getting fuel and the shop was a little busy. The convenience store part has pretty much anything and everything for road trippers and passers through. From apples to zippo lighters, if its a road trip item or basic commodity its in here. I was pretty surprised at the amenities this locale had. We originally stopped in looking for a bathroom as Friends down the way had nothing. The bathrooms here were plentiful, clean, and surprisingly the food and fare they sold looked pretty tasty as well. I had to talk myself out of a corn dog I kid you not. Gas is cheaper in Willits if you can last until then, but this is not a bad place to stop if ya gotta, which we did :D read more

This is the best places to stop on this long stretch of 101. There is a huge selection of road snacks and microwave food as well as ample area outside to stretch your legs. The staff have always been friendly. The restrooms are usable, I won't say clean but at least usable. I can imagine it would be difficult to keep them clean with how many travelers pass through hourly. That said, we stop here on every pass north or south along 101. read more

Stopped here for gas and restroom break on the way back to the Bay Area from Eureka area. Saw a busy station, well lit, lots room, so it looked good for a small town gas station. Pretty busy Foodmart for 1030 at night. Clean restrooms, well stocked store. Cashier was friendly. Gas prices were reasonable for being along Hwy 101. read more

I've known the Graviers for 15 years now, (wow, has it been that long already???) and they run a very clean and efficient station. Employees have always been friendly, courteous and helpful. Gas is on average 20 cents higher than Willits 22 miles south, but that's not surprising. Next gas stop going north would be Cooks Valley about 40ish miles from Laytonville. It's a bit cheaper up there though. Anyway, chances are, you can get your gas for your vehicle and snacks and stuff for you and be on your way again in no time. Un believable kindness.we broke down there today.The day after thanksgiving. I had 3 kids in my car 3dogs and a cat.just enough money for gas. My battery needed charging .The man working there protected us . I knew he was watching over us. I'm 62 treat old woman with alone with my son and niece and nephew. They were all so kind. A woman that worked there fed my kids.She insisted and didn't even want a thank you.her name was oriel or Adriano don't quite remember but we are going to find out.Everyone was very gracious helpful kind giving.I can't say enough. Soooo if ever you get had down that way i HIGHLY recommend stopping at LaytonVille chevron.We were stuck for hours and we were shown nothing but kindness.thanks. read more

I use Chevron daily. There is a newer employee who works in the mornings. I don't know her name but she has a tattoo on her right forearm. She makes me feel uncomfortable every time I come into the store. As I said, I use Chevron daily for my morning coffee, gas and sometimes snacks. I'm not sure what has made her dislike me so much but I decided after this morning when she gave me attitude about my change (I had to remind her to give me my change) she didn't like that one little bit. She makes me feel like I'm unwelcome, unwanted and not appreciated in anyway whatsoever. After that scene, I decided that I'll just buy my daily coffee elsewhere and work my routine to gas up in Willits. read more

Boy do I have a lot of reviews to catch up on this vacation! Let's start with this Chevron! They are actually one of the busiest gas stations around. Even though we got a station really quickly, there was a line of cars who were right behind us waiting for us to move on. If you're courteous, you will finish, pull your car to the side before you go in and load up on salty and sugary snacks. They are actually a remarkably clean stop. You won't see another gas station for another few miles so fill up here!! read more

If you need a pit stop,on your to/from Eureka or Arcata, you might end up gassing up your car here. If you're feeling a little hungry for some fried chicken, go inside the mini-mart. I kid you not. They fry up chicken and other snacks like poppers throughout the day, and it's pretty good! An alternative to your McDonalds or JBox options. read more

On Sunday July 29th nearly all of the electricity and internet(credit card machines) for Mendocino County went out, due to wildfires burning in Lake County. This gas station was the only place in Northern Mendocino County to get gas (that I know of, I'm in Willits and I called around) I drove up to Laytonville to fill up my tank and found a scene I could only compare to "organized chaos" there was an employee of the gas station, a gentleman, who directed all the cars in the lot, he kept people from cutting in line, directed all the cars to enter from one side and exit from the other, to prevent people from backing up and wasting more time, and to prevent cutting. He helped to create an easy flow. I'm sure it's a situation that he was not trained for, but he handled it like a Pro. I did not get his name, I wish I had. But I guarantee he deserves a raise, or at least a nice bonus for his efforts that day. read more

I give it four stars not just because it's the only "real" gas station for several miles but I have been stopping here for years and it's always clean and unlike some of the no name stations up in the area they don't seem to jack the prices out of sight. Yes the lines at the pumps do get long sometimes but like I said it's the only real station for several miles. And if people wouldn't pump their gas then leave their car sitting there while they go into shop the lines would move better for sure. Not the stations fault at all here. This will continue to be my regular stop as long as they are there and I'm still able to drive. read more

Slowest fill ever. Long unsorted lines taking forever then the pump would not pump more than 3 gallons (Thank god I was heading to Willits.) In the south end of Willits there was fuel about 16 cents less a gallon, smooth and efficient. At Graviers also made the mistake of getting coffee, powdered cream (yuck)and not cheap. Recomend you avoid at all cost. read more
