Well-painted toy soldiers, figurines, and other pieces for a collector to enjoy - don't forget to pet the store dog - so cute! I bought an original piece by Kate, a 93-year old artist who had her own painting factory in her own home - a very round Santa. Loved my experience - a great place to come by and check the artist at work or to browse the collection! +toy soldiers +friendly owner :D

They've got something for everyone, and it's super fun to walk around the store and interact with the staff and the games. They've got a ton of stuff that you can play with while you're there, and the staff knows about everything there to offer up opinions on all their items. We stop in this place so often that I've lost count. Their content changes so heading in there is normally going to be somewhat of a new experience, and they've remodeled a bit to make it even easier to walk around and check things out. This place is normally super busy, but I did manage to get some pictures since we were the first ones in. It's absolutely a place to support, and they put in a great amount of effort to make sure you have the best experience in a brick-and-mortar store. It's a challenge to not leave with something in your hands. If you have kids, I'd say it's not possible - at least with mine :D

Very delighted to stumble upon Allison Wonderland. I feel like they just don't make toy stores like this anymore. Independently owned, and packed with so many great toys, activities, books, and more. We have a kiddo of our own, along with nieces and nephews we were shopping for, and we found something for everyone! I most loved the sustainable wooden toy selection, and all of the great puzzles/building-type options. If you can skip the fast-shopping online from places like Amazon or Target, be sure to! This small shop could of course use the support, but they also genuinely have it all. Oh and the man working was very sweet and passionate about the store - love that!

I am fortunate that I was driving by (on my first visit to Dixon!) and noticed the vintage and…read morerusting metal "stuff" piled outside this shop. It was so tempting I had to stop! Well gosh, you need to too! The store is several rooms chocked full of true antiques, plus lots of interesting vintage items, and even an area with (new) amazing candles. Apparently Suzanne, the friendly and charming owner, got the collecting bug from her father. This store is in part, a tribute and honor to him (check out the framed newspaper article by the cash register). Suzanne is delightful and I found the prices extremely fair. While I needed, planned on nothing, I went home with several items. The gorgeous stained glass lampshade was (OMG OMG) only $12.00! And instead of looking for a lamp based, I decided to simply display as a 'bowl'. Suzanne, you will definitely be seeing me on my next trip to Dixon. And to everyone reading this, you do want to check out Rusted Relics. You will enjoy exploring all the treasures and be supporting a local business.
