I have NEVER had such a bad experience at the same place TWICE. There are pictures attached to this review that help show why my experience was so awful. ( https://imgur.com/a/OXroxQO )
**Also, please note: I talked to two other people at CHEVEUX STL to try and explain what went wrong and why I was unhappy, and I was told both times that I would have to deal directly with my hair stylist, JULIE NGUYEN.
I explained to the front desk that by refusing to help/or even listen to my frustration, it reflects poorly on the whole company/store.
So, I will, once again, go over the events that occurred in detail.
Pictures #1 & #2: I texted Julie these two pictures.
I asked her if she would be able to dye my hair like either one of these pictures.
I understood that in order for my hair to reach the ash brown color shown in picture #2, my hair would have to be bleached (sort of the way shown in picture #1)
Since the bottom half of my hair had already been bleached a couple months ago, I was having trouble finding anyone who would dye my hair under $160 (which was my total budget).
Pictures #3, & #4: I also texted Julie pictures of my hair so that I could get an estimate. I was told it'd be $125-up (as shown).
When I went to my appointment, I DISCLOSED to Julie that my total budget was about $160, and I also asked her if she was going to charge me $125-up until I got the hair color I desired and I was told YES.
Julie charged me $135 and I thought that was fair UNTIL I saw how my hair turned out.
Soon after I left the salon, I texted Julie explaining I wasn't satisfied and asked if I could come to get it fixed, and she said okay.
Picture #6 shows my hair before treatment #1.
Pictures #7 & #8: My hair after treatment #1.
I don't understand why I left with my hair looking like that.
*I understand that sometimes the color desired is not achieved in one treatment*
BUT, that doesn't explain why she bleached my hair so immaturely.
In picture #7, there is a RED RECTANGLE that shows the area she completely neglected to dye. THE BOTTOM HALF OF MY DARKEST HAIR WAS LEFT UNTOUCHED.
Picture #8: The RED CIRCLE shows how bad it looked at the top.
I NEVER ASKED FOR HIGHLIGHTS.
JULIE ADDED BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS THROUGHOUT MY HAIR AND LEFT ALL THE DARK HAIR UNDERNEATH.
I DID NOT ASK FOR HIGHLIGHTS OF ANY KIND.
Additionally, the BLONDE highlights on TOP of my already dark hair made it look like my hair was gray. BLEGH.
So, I went back for TREATMENT #2:
As pictured in #9: you can SEE my hair looks like straw.
During treatment #2: Julie left me sitting under HEAT to process ... for over an HOUR (while she took another customer and cut, and blow dry her hair)
After she did all that, she asked me to pay her ANOTHER $135.
Frustrated and almost in tears, I tried to explain to her that my hair looks and feels like nothing I wanted, and on top of all that, I was expected to pay her for ANOTHER TREATMENT when I was TOLD it would be $125-up,
And even then, it doesn't change the fact that she was aware my TOTAL budget was $160.
Julie got super defensive and almost hostile and she told me I had to pay her before I could leave.
I spoke to someone on the phone who only told me that there was a miscommunication on both ends because Julie assumed I knew it would be $135 per treatment.
ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT: Julie demanded I pay her something even after I explained I only had $60 until I got paid 2 weeks later, and I was told I had to pay her AT LEAST $50, and EVEN AFTER THAT, I was told to give her my home address and phone number.
Since Julie is a licensed professional,
AS A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL:
SHE should have TOLD me it would be $125-up PER TREATMENT.
My hair should not have been PROCESSED FOR OVER AN HOUR WITH HEAT. ... less than a week after my first treatment.
My hair should not still be so warm toned and brassy.
I'm beyond disappointed and frustrated still.
If I wanted to screw up my hair, I could have done it myself at home as I did when I was 12. I don't need to pay someone $270 PLUS TIP.
This reflects badly not only on Julie but CHEVEUX STL as a whole. read more
