The party at Chester Washington Golf Course was fun! There was a DJ, a robot, and a Bad Bunny costume impersonator.

They take great care of this course. It's a really fun one to play. I'm definitely not a great golfer, but it's still a great time. The course has a good range of hole difficulty and the hole layouts have some good variety. The only downside is that it is ALWAYS busy. They do tend to cram in tee times so be ready for your round to take a bit longer than you'd normally expect. read more

I enjoy Chester Washington so much that I am apart of the members club. The course is a PGA course that provides different difficulties of holes to play. The land is maintenance very well. The staff is friendly and will help keep your tee times moving. The course is very popular so you will have a lot of players but definitely worth it. read more

Chester Washington Golf Course - Golf Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Driving range is horrible and not kid friendly. Do not come here... cart management is horrible as well

This is the worst course I have ever played. The grass is 8" around the green. Multiple blind tee boxes. The greens are half dirt. Never play here again read more

If i could give a ZERO star i would. These scam artists are keeping money paid in advance even when you cancel Your tee time in a timely manner. Fuck this dump and their dog shit policies. The word has been spread. We wont be back to this piece of shit place. read more

It might improve your pace of play if you cut the grass every once in a while, and it didn't take a search party and a machete to find a ball two feet off the fairway. read more

If it takes more than 15 minutes to drive to the course, look elsewhere. If you live near the course with extra time and a lot of patience, it's ok. The course conditions are very inconsistent. During the week the greens are fine and the rough is manageable. By the weekend, the greens are an unplayable mogul field and the rough is liken to the US Open. Like all courses managed by American golf, the pace of play is very poor. A five hour round seems to be the standard. The course is understaffed and "Player Ambassadors" are nowhere to be found. The clubhouse staff are fantastic, especially the bartenders. It's too bad the maintenance team is handicapped by a company that doesn't care about the golfers. read more

Worst experience booking an event space. Do not recommend. You can tell these are county employees. The event staff are lazy, rude, lackadaisical, and not accommodating AT ALL. If you book an event here, you will be treated like a peon. Staff act as if they are the customers and we are there to serve them. Nothing is worse than spending thousands of dollars only to get attitude from those who are supposed to help you make your event come to life. They don't check on you during on post event to see if your needs were met. NOT ONE TIME did anyone check in and ask us how things were going. WHO DOES THAT? By no means do staff pretend to care that you're a satisfied customer that will return and give them more business. They don't care because they are publicly funded. They can care less how many bookings are made there, or lack there of. Bonisha Perri (event director) has an attitude from start to finish. She is not there to please and let's you know it right at jump! Her underlings follow suit-- -nothing but snarky responses, and horrible body language. She doesn't care to take time and go over what the event space includes and doesn't include. I swear she's only there so she can sneak in some tee time with the bros. That's the only time I saw her crack a smile is when she was kee-keeing with the men who were there to golf, but aren't you the event director? Shouldn't you be making your clients feel taken care of? There were guests at our event who wanted to book the space, but after they encountered Bonisha, they quickly changed their mind. She doesn't have the personality or disposition for event planning. Nothing about this place makes you want to return for another event--soon as you hit the entrance there's a strong stench, reminiscent of urine. Never again. read more

Course is decent. Expect a 2:10 tee time if you reserve 1:40. They have terrible time management

I played there late yesterday and today in the morning when I was cleaning my irons, I noticed I was missing my 8. I called and Matt answered the phone but did not find my club in the lost and found. He advised me to go over and looked for it in the course. I got there and he quickly helped me out with a cart. I found my club. I gotta say, Matt is always attentive and provides great customer service. Thanks for answering the phone and helping me out Matt. read more

If you play here you better have the whole day off. Unfortunate! Seems like a cool course but man! 3 hours and we were on the 9th... I had to leave man I was walking I'm fat bro can't be walking for a 5-6 hour game! On top of that I went to the pro shop with the genuine question of "is this the normal pace of play?" And I was met with very sour tone accompanied by a sarcastic reply of "this isn't a fancy country club this is an urban course with lots of people..." Personally I would've been fine with "ya bro it's slow here" However I did get an answer from a different employee. Apparently every Monday there is around 5 groups that play skins early and take their sweet time playing and it's just normal so I guess don't play Mondays? I have no complaints of the course itself though it was an interesting layout!(the 9 holes I played anyways) very unfortunate. read more

I spend a lot of time at this course and I really enjoy it. Lots of fun activities within the community for the entire family!

Don't waste your time, second hole backed up with 5 groups, 4 hours for the first 9. Would rather go to links at Victoria.....that says a lot lol read more

Paid 70 dollars yesterday for a tee time. Most it's ever been which is ridiculous for the conditions of the course. Tee'd off almost 30 minutes after the tee time I booked. Took almost 4 hours to finish the front 9. They are selling tee times every 6 minutes and are overcharging. This course has took profit as its only incentive recently and it's embarrassing. Also the kid working the pro shop had one of the worst attitudes I've ever seen from an employee at a golf course. Figure it out Chester Washington. read more

Cant believe i am even wasting my time writing about this fucking piece of shit course. The fellas and I went to the course today to stripe some balls of the Lush Carpets, turned out I ended up at a fucking joke of a golf course. I would rather quit golf and shove a porkey pine up my ass than ever play here again. Pace of play? ASS. Condition of the course? ASS. The only enjoyable experience I had was when the kind lady working the grill made me one hell of a chicken Sando. Overall this is the worst experience I have ever had, I would quit golf before I ever came back here. Chester Watchyoclubs is a miss of all misses. read more

Fuck me sideways. Had a tee time at 1:56 today for me and a few of my buddies. We teed off at 2:30 and waited for multiple groups on every hole and paid 67 dollars for the round thinking the course would be in pretty good shape. Nope. The greens looked like the god damn local dog park. It's 7:15, just finished up hole 15 and had to leave for a dinner reservation I had. Went in to ask for reimbursement they said I could get 30% off my next round. I said you got anything else? I'll never be back at this god damn place in my life. Don't play golf here. read more

this place sucks , tee time was at 2:52 didn't tee off till 3:45. took us 6 hours to finish 17 holes never again read more

Hard working staff, efficient handling of requests. Recommend this venue for birthday parties, receptions or family reunions.

This part 70 course is fairly flat. It was very green when I played on it during mid-August 2023 with my VP of the company. We had a really good time out there...78 score...good greens and wide fairways. Enjoyed the three holes clearing the water! check out our pics. read more

I will explain why I'm giving 2 stars... My daughter's Quinceañera celebration took place at the beautiful Chester Washington Golf Course last weekend in October. I loved the location and had attended a couple events previously. I was very happy to see all of the upgrades and remodeling, made the place look even better! The event director Boneshia Perri was very pleasant seemed professional and reassured me everything was going to turn out great. The day of the quinceañera was finally here! Unfortunately things didn't go as planned, the event director Boneshia was acting unlike herself with an attitude. Turns out and it really is a small world, Boneshia had worked previously with one of the vendors my sister in law currently works with and there was some type argument between them. Did I mention my sister in law also happens to be my daughter's godmother? After the alteration the event director was not the same, and was acting very moody and very slow in doing things. She pulled me aside and started name calling my sister in law assuming I had hired her without knowing she was actually family but I didn't want to make things worse and reassured Boneshia I will speak with my sister in law to avoid any additional arguments especially because my guests were going to be arriving soon and all I wanted was for things to go smoothly. We had appetizers delivered by an outside restaurant and this was all discussed and approved by the event director, she made it clear the staff will not be able to serve any outside food due to Covid regulations. However, it was never discussed that all my guests will NOT be receiving appetizer plates or utensils. By the time my first guest arrived the tables were still not set up. The fabric napkins were not set up at all the tables, the glassware was not set up, the plates and silverware was also missing. Not sure why if there was a full staff no one was doing anything??? It was truly disappointing seeing the venue servers passing out appetizers (fried Mac n cheese squares) in paper napkins... yes, paper napkins! The food was served an hour late and it was supposed to be served for 2 hours which also didn't happen. Then the dirty dishes were not picked up by any of the servers. I actually had to have the DJ make an announcement to the venue staff to clear the tables. I do have to admit the food was very delicious and all my guests were very satisfied! Fast forward to the cake cutting, after we sang happy birthday I assumed the servers were going to pass out the cake since I saw them cutting it. I was not told the cake was set all the way in the back in a dark place, several of my guests including my husband, my daughter and myself did not taste the cake in fact the cake was enough for 150 guests and I have no idea what happened to the cake... I was told by some of my guests the cake was taken to the kitchen area and never saw it again... I was also told by several guests the bar was serving very strong drinks and had several friends who ended up pretty drunk including one of my friends visiting from Texas. Turns out there was a golf course member who kept going to the bar and ended up flirting with my friend and tried to take her, in fact he came back after he went home and changed out of his golfing clothes, tried to appear as a guest and went directly to my drunk friend and tried to take her with him this was very scary! Luckily my family is always watching out for each other and my brothers realized what was happening and kicked the guy out! This was very frightening and there should be some type of policy or security at the venue. After spending thousands of dollars at Chester Washington Golf Course and you ask me if it was all worth it, I can honestly say NO. It was very over priced venue for the type of service we received and to top it all, the man trying to take my drunk friend home! Huge Red Flag! Please do your research before booking any events here! read more

Went a second time to see if the trash first experience I had was a one time ordeal. Tee time at 11:30. Teed off past 12:00 and was the last group to finish 18 past 5:30. Tried to range before and their machine was empty for thirty minutes in the morning. Was told they were three tee times behind. First experience, we 'missed' the guy calling our name and when we asked front desk, front desk trashed us on the loud speaker telling the starter we didn't know where the first tee and to help our "lost group", even though we were parked with carts right next to it. They just let other groups go without even checking their times. One star is for the course being maintained better than other muni courses. No stars for their non-existent 'organization' or structure. Even reading the other reviews, they don't seem to care to respond or make changes. Need a marshall to keep things moving. Will never be back read more

The Good: Always nice to see all the diversity here. Probably the most diverse group of players at one course anywhere. Love to see it. Reasonably priced. The Bad: Course conditions can be downright shabby. Bumpy greens and funky lies throughout. Bunker sand is pretty inconsistent. Course never really recovered after being neglected during Covid. Pro shop dudes are some of the rudest in the industry and it's clear they could care less about your experience. Pace of play is always slow af. The only reason I ever play here is because I have friends that play there a lot so I put up with it to play with them. Never really understood why so many folks play here. Overall it's kind of a dump. read more

First let me say that the staff is great but , multiple times the issue with the first three holes need to be figured out... it's the same wait as teeing off on the first hole .. always a 3 group wait especially when they add groups to the tee sheet when there's no way to get people off on time .. When adding groups in between tee time might accommodate the group event the experience for everyone else is not so great.. The Golf experience should be the same for everyone not just one group read more

This place is a mess. I'd honestly just go someplace else. When I go to check in for my 2:20 tee time at 2:10 (as requested when I entered the facility) the starter said, "oh, you're with these two older women who just hit" And indeed, the two women were on their cart, headed toward the fairway. "uh, but our time is 2:20?" "yeah, we are changing the organization a bit" "So our tee time is 10 minutes prior, that we are now late for?" "sorry for the confusion, you can just catch up with them at the 2nd tee" Kind of a lousy driving range, no visible markers to gauge distance. Pretty fun putting green, honestly, a bit too sloped, but good practice. This course is very poorly maintained. If you hit your ball in the rough, good luck finding it. The grass is so tall in much of it that it makes it impossible to spot your ball unless you're right on top of it. Seriously lost 5 or 6 balls because of this, I have never had this happen before. Several of the sand traps have turned into water hazards. Seriously, there was a lot of water in a couple of them. Luckily I avoided the bad ones, because otherwise I'd end up in gross, sandy waters. No visible markers to check your distance from the green. Though I like to overall shape of the greens, with overall nice slopes, they are ROUGH. Bouncy, bubbly, and unpredictable. Enjoy your double bogie. I don't know what they're doing with the money golfers spend there, but it isn't maintaining the course. I've played at several similar priced courses and were much, much better maintained. read more

2 stars is being nice for a couple reasons: the price ($35 walking), music playing on the range & the employees are friendly. Now for the truth. This place is horribly maintained and the design details are atrocious. There are weeds in the fairway. The greens were bumpy and rolled like a fairway. Bunkers were wet and didn't have rakes. One thing that boggled my mind was the greens were shaped like turtle shells. I hit a couple of approach shots to the front and instead of bouncing forward they would ricochet to the side near the fringe. When I walked up to the ball I could tell the unevenness of the greens made the ball react like it hit hard pan on a hill and roll off. I get it's not in the nicest neighborhood, yet golf is at an all time high for recreational play and this place wasn't packed (very unusual right now). The only reason I can give is the course is poorly kept up. Wish the management had more pride in maintaining it. I don't see myself returning. read more

Some greens need some help. Overall decent condition. DO NOT USE THE RAGE. I got a bucket of 30 balls and there was maybe 3 balls with any dimples in it. The range balls are way past their usage and need to be replaced. read more

It's a muni so with that in consideration, Chester Washington is a solid course. It's pretty well kept and clean overall. The folks working here are friendly and the course itself is fun to play. There is a small practice range around to the right if you want to practice hitting some balls. There is also a putting green as well to warm up before your rounds. It's pretty popular so you need to book tee times well in advance. There seems to be good availability for walk on though if you're a single player. I played with 2 buddies so there were 3 of us so the pro shop added a single to our group. The other guy was cool. The course is named after an African American journalist and the course itself was one of the first to allow African American players. The street leading up to the course is named after the first African American PGA tour player, etc. so it has some good history behind the course as well. It's a muni so probably to be expected but there are a few areas of vandalism and minor things like missing letters on some of the signs, etc. that can probably be fixed at some point. For a local course, I'll probably be back. read more

This review is only for the driving range. It's your basic driving range. You might have to wait to take your turn because just about the entire time I was there on a Thursday afternoon, every spot was taken. My guess is on the weekend you might have to wait for a while to start driving. While you're waiting, you can try the practice putting greens. At times they were packed, and other times they weren't being used at all. My only gripe is that there were a group of men hanging out there who were really loud, which kind of takes away from the experience. A couple of the guys said a lot of inappropriate and crude things while their pals laughed along. There were women present, and I thought it was totally out of line, but the people working there didn't seem to be bothered by it. I wish they'd do a better job of reminding people to be respectful of others. After all, golf is a gentlemen's game they say. read more

Played a round of golf with my club March 3, 2024. Arrived early to have breakfast and the coffee shop opened at 8am. Because of the earlier rain, the course tee times were running a little late which was fine for me because it was cold. Ordered a breakfast burrito from the nice lady in the coffee shop who was alone to take orders and prepare the food. She made the greatest breakfast burrito I've had in a while. Finished breakfast with time to warm up and tee off. The course was in great shape considering the recent rain and no lie, the rough was rough and hard to find your ball in. The staff in the pro shop was very friendly and professional. Look forward to playing there again. Sorry no pictures. read more

I honestly use to love this course 3 years ago but the putting greens absolutely sucks!!! I Feels like no one rolled or mowed the greens for months!! it's like putting in thick bumpy carpet.
