Dr. Mickenberg is personable and knowledgeable. and that made my experience about as pleasant as I could've expected. He cracked me up with his reference to "Cap'n Crunch Toenails" (that phenomenon that's occasionally observed in senior citizens). I hope to avoid that as I age gracefully! Podiatry feels a bit old-school for someone my age, but I would come back to Dr. Mickenberg in the future. I'm docking one star for the condition of the office which needs a coat of paint, a good cleaning in the waiting area, and a general modern update throughout.

He was easy to talk to, answered all my questions, didn't rush the appointment, and beautifully explained the details of the procedure and post-op care. Turns out I was misdiagnosed - I didn't have a neuroma which is what he gave me 9 injections for. The MRI that my next doctor ordered showed that there was no neuroma! So why the injections, which didn't work. When I received my 9th injection, knowing that 10 was the recommended limit, and still thinking that I had a neuroma, I asked, "is it time to consider surgery?" To which Dr. Dieboldt replied, "You need to think positively!! It leads to better outcomes." Really? If 9 injections didn't work, why would you be so naive to think that a 10th injection would do the trick? I quit his practice after that visit. He also had an insole/orthotic customized for me - but my current doctor told me that this insole is useless, and I've had to order a new insole that was molded to my foot. Fortunately I can think for myself and determine when I'm being given incorrect or patronizing advice. I wasted 9 months and $$ on this practice.

My toe nail had grown deeply under my skin causing unbearable pain and an infection. Dr. Brieloff placed me on a medication to fight the infection and scheduled me for a procedure the following week. I was nervous because my toe hurt so pain that I couldn't imagine how he could perform on my toe without my kicking and screaming. Dr. Brieloff was able to numb my toe completely and I literally felt no pain at all! The procedure was quick, painless and my toe began to heal very quickly following the procedure. Upon arriving, I immediately informed the receptionist that I had inadvertently arrived without my MRI disc. I apologized for the oversight and respectfully asked whether I could return with the disc at a later time and still be seen by the doctor. The office manager interrupted her telephone conversation and responded in an unnecessarily rude and dismissive tone, stating, "You just have to make another appointment. He can't see you without the disc." She declined to allow me to see Dr. Cohen and further stated that I did not have the right to see the doctor without the required materials and that "he is very much aware of how this office works." ( She boasted about being the office manager for over 14 years) She then concluded the interaction by saying, "If there is nothing else, you can leave now." I understand that there may be office policies or medical requirements regarding the MRI disc. However, I believe patients should be treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect, particularly when addressing an honest mistake. The manner in which this situation was handled was unnecessarily discourteous and left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. I am requesting that this matter be addressed with the appropriate office or company Foot and Ankle of MD leadership. While I understand and respect the need to follow medical protocols, I do not believe those policies justify speaking to a patient in a disrespectful or condescending manner. This is not an isolated situation so if you're wanting an office that is professional and courteous to you while you're going through your assessment and healing process, please choose another podiatrist.
