Unfortunately our experience here was not pleasant. Upon arrival we were sent to the back patio with no instructions and found zero open tables so we wandered around until someone finished. Ordering was extremely difficult for the older members of our party. The QR code system and lack of presence from employees meant we couldn't ask questions and were never really sure our orders went in (one food order never did). Drinks took 15 minutes and they were out of two that we had already ordered and paid for. The table was finally bussed and a drink was spilled all over my Mother in law. That was when we got our first free pie. Our teenage server who when we said thank you replied "oh I don't care". Huh. We can tell. Food from two orders came 15 minutes later. The kids we were with needed to eat. The rest of us were waiting for the last order from our table. For over an hour. Never having a server come over to ask about anything. We finally went in to find out where the two salads were and they had been missed by the kitchen. Cue second free pie. Loved this store and the outside Cherry Public restaurant. Live music was playing on the patio while we enjoyed our lunch. The Cherry sangria slush was the perfect drink after our walk on the nearby Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. I was also pleased they allowed dogs on the patio, even had water bowls available for them. A quick trip inside the store for cherry treats to take home. The property itself is super cute! There is a tasting room on property and a cute cherry food item gift shop. The brewery has a delicious IPA on tap called the dune hopper. The food itself is ok. From cherry wines to cherry burgers to cherry pie to cherry soda to cherry ice cream, there's def something about cherry you want to try! I had a cherry pie and cherry bacon marmalade. The burger taste great! The bacon is just the right amount cooked, not super dry and crispy but just right amount for the burger. The cherry pie and cherry pop are all super good. Well, where do I start? First stop the host desk. He was so busy with his buddies that we were ignored. When I started to walk inside that's when he decided to ask us if we needed help. DUH!!! Tourists town most people would need guidance. We were told we could sit out back but when we got there, surprise surprise, it was full because really there wasn't a host/hostess keeping track of any of the seating areas. Would give it a zero if I could. Terrible experience. We left after 1.5 hours and never even got our drinks let alone food in that time. Server never checked in with us the whole time. Absolutely horrendous. We placed an order for 6 drinks and lunch around 2pm. Almost an hour had gone by and we had been served nothing. Our server hadn't even thought to check in with us. Tables around us had arrived later than us and gotten food before us. When we asked our waitress about our drinks and food she stated "it's typical to have slow service at rush hour". I'm not sure what world considers 3pm a "food rush hour", but I wouldn't dare try this place at a typical lunch or dinner time. What can I say about Cherry Republic? Specifically the Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor. I'm obsessed! While we did not stop into their restaurant, the aromas wafting from the kitchen into their block party-esque space was delightful! If you have never been before, make sure you stop here and take it all in; and if you have been before then make sure to visit every time you can. It's definitely a location that can be easily missed. The area itself is almost an entire block with multiple buildings and a beautiful gathering area as well as outdoor seating. While the location in Traverse City is equally as great, there is something about small town charm that makes Glen Arbor a must-do on my list. From the restaurant, the retail location, to the on-site winery, it brings the meaning of hidden gem a whole new level of complexity and desire. Grab a bite to eat, wash it down with some Michigan cherry wine, and grab some of their famous Boomchunka cookies as well as every other cherry product you could think of to take home! I really wanted so badly to like the food here. I'm a big fan of the company and the products in the stores but the food just didn't measure up. I think it was good flavor wise but the ribs were charred beyond belief as were the onion straws. The mac and cheese sauce was too thin and so noodles weren't covered well and didn't have much flavor. The cornbread was a little dry. The fries were good and the bbq pork was good. And the cherry moscato was delicious. That's about all I can say. I think it was most execution issues so maybe if I tried it again I would have a different experience. She also knows where to go all over the state -- for anything. Her royal consort is a funny, artistic fellow equipped with solid convo and some pretty rock star local find skills of his own. I am an only child. We've established the players. On one of their many trips through the wilds of the Great Lakes state, they happened upon the cherry version of Bubba from Forrest Gump. Cherry wine. Cherry pie. Cherry jam. Cherry cake. Cherry ice cream. Cherry salsa. CHOCOLATE.COVERED.CHERRIES!!! Hold the phone. Yep, you read right. Chocolate covered cherries from the cherry gurus in the cherry state! Do you know what this means? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS??? ihadtohavethem. I'd only heard whispers and rumors, but my very soul knew they existed and I *needed* to sup upon them. Accidentally discovered this place a couple of summers ago while exploring Leelanau and boy am I glad I did! What a place! Three separate buildings in the complex all dedicated to the cherry (a finer fruit you could not ask for as far as I am concerned!). The first building is the cafe where you can get some tasty treats to eat in house. A decent sized menu of cherry related sandwiches among others. My favorite is the popular cherry chicken salad. A chicken salad with dill, some celery, and dried cherries on their tasty Cherry Republic bread! I loved this sandwich so much I made sure to take home a loaf of the bread so I can attempt to recreate it the rest of the week for lunch (TIP- if you want some bread be sure to ask the very lovely staff if they have any of the in stock. Just because it's not out doesn't mean they don't have any). Upgrade your sandwich to their version of the combo meal for a cherry drink (all their cherry soda on tap--which I'll get to in a minute!), two cherry sides (cherry baked beans and the cherry cornbread are my faves), and a slice of cherry pie for dessert. Oh boy! The cafe also has a delightful ice cream menu for cherry pie ala mode, cherry sundaes, or cherry root beer floats. Unfortunately we were just too sugared out to take advantage of that this last trip but boy did it all look good! You can also pick up some baked goods to go like mini cherry pies and crumbles, their famous cherry cookies, and other daily treats. Just want a plain old water? That's fine, but you'd better believe they'll be putting a few cherries into it for you! The next complex is their shop filled with a ridiculous amount of free samples. Cherry jams first come to mind and they line the shelves in a huge variety-- sweet dark jams, cherry jelly, cherry pear jam, cherry apple butter, etc etc. Oh lawd! Most have the option for tasting and you should definitely do that. White chocolate cherry peanut butter (a little too sweet for my tastes but still good), cherry honey (as a honey junkie this appealed the most to me this time around so I bought a jar which I have not yet had the pleasure of trying yet--will report back once I get to that), cherry salsa in a variety of flavor levels (original, mild, hot, and now organic chipotle which was my favorite and came home with me). Cherry candies (gummies and otherwise), chocolate covered cherries, cherry granola, cherry pretzels, and your basic dried cherry. Oh my. It's overload in the best way possible. It took me two trips before I narrowed down what I wanted and even now I regret not buying more. Luckily they sell most of their goods online! The third building is their soda and wine tasting shop. As I mentioned before they have a number of sodas that they produce and all are on tap in the cafe and available in the beverage depot for purchase by the cup or by the growler. Last time I visited they also had most (if not all) the flavors in bottles so I bought a 6 pack to take home for special soda occasions. Unfortunately this time they only had three flavors so I made due by getting a True Cherry Cola growler instead. My other favorites--the Cherry Root Bear and the Boom Chugga Lugga Cherry soda came home in bottles. Their wine is also quite lovely. I will fully admit to not being much of a wine connoisseur and I really only like sweet wines so the Cherry Republic was up my alley. We tried a few varieties but my favorite was the sparkling cherry wine. Ask the gracious staff for a little top off of orange juice to see what kind of mimosas are in your future if you take a bottle of this home. You will not be disappointed. The complex itself is really beautiful--with lots of attractive flowers blooming, wooden cabin like architecture, and a bunch of humorous signs all around. Everywhere you look is a delight! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating make this a welcoming place you want to come to again and again. TIP: If you're buying a gift for someone in the shop be sure to ask them (if they don't offer which the kind staff probably will) if they can package the gifts for you free of charge. I bought my mom some honey and chocolate covered cherries and they put them in a lovely box with stuffing and various tree accouterments like bark and pinecones. So nice! read more

This is the mother-ship. The headquarters of the quaint state-wide chain found across the mitten. Most of the Cherry Republic stores are essentially the same, but the Glen Arbor location seemed a little larger and had that more 'authentic' vibe as it's nestled near the lake near Sleeping Bear Dunes. There are so many adjectives to describe Cherry Republic: idyllic, rustic, charming, etc. It's reasonably priced and it fits the area really well. When I was there back I ordered Mother Day's gifts and they created the gift boxes there. I got a bunch of fun stuff including jams, sodas, bbq sauce, and candy. All with cherry obviously. It's a quaint little place and is definitely pure Michigan. read more

OMG, I could not believe the sample spread they have here. Places like Harry and David at the outlets always give pitiful portions, this place has big bowls of practically everything they sell. They are so incredibly generous. I'm glad people buy a lot here because the prices are good and they are so nice here. The products are all excellent here as well. We bought a cherry blueberry pie the first night and we totally devoured it and no one really likes pie or cherry pie in our family. So the next day, we took advantage of the buy 2 pie deal! We bought two of the last three pies there. This time we got a cherry crumb pie, that was awesome as well. I love this place. Like my hubbie says, we are a cherry republic family!! Out of all the goodies they sell here, I left with a book. Even the counter lady was like "why are you buying this book"? No joke. I honestly don't know where to start with Cherry Republic. I've gone to Glen Arbor for years in the summer and Cherry Republic has always been a place to celebrate the fun day I've had at night. Since the last time I had been to Cherry Republic they have completely revamped and added multiple items to their menu. I have gotten a burger, pretzel, and a salad and they are all delicious. My favorite is definitely the burger though. I also get cherry pie when I eat here, and it doesn't disappoint. The Black Cherry Creme Soda is to die for. It is a nice relaxing drink to have with your dinner. If I could rate Cherry Republic 100 stars I would. Obviously I can't so I'll stick with 5, which definitely doesn't do it enough justice for how good it is. read more

Even though it seems a bit gimmicky it still feels true at heart. The layout is fun as it feels like a tiny village with some nice gardens and plenty of spots to sit outside and grab a bite. The cherry glaze on the burger was pretty good but I thought the Mac and cheese and chicken salad were too simple. Good for kids I guess but I was looking for an adult version with some more interesting flavors. Didn't think the wine was good either but I do recommend checking out their beer. I had a porter with some subtle cherry flavors that I would definitely go for again. There is Cherry Republic in Ann Arbor so there was no need for me to buy anything from the store but there is lots to see and plenty of interesting finds so totally worth it if you have never been to one before. Also have to commend the service and wait staff who kept the line moving, were super nice and helpful even during a busy weekend and still maintaining safe COVID protocols for all. Well done! This was my first time trying Cherry Republic, It was everything I hoped it would be! It was definitely way more crowded than I thought it would be but I still really enjoyed myself! We are going to check out the Traverse city location later today. I'm sure we will come back with the sour gummies,soda, & the Cherry salsa! Everything that I tried was amazing!! The jams were all very good and I'm not even much of a jam person. There is a building for wine & pop tasting and there was a very nice lady that helped all of us, she was very good and quick at her job. Tons of kids swarmed around her shouting different soda flavors and she was very quick to fill them all. I can't wait to go back! read more
