And even though the course was built not that long ago, the mature trees which they built around create the feeling of a much older set of links. Love hole #4, the par 3 over water. Perfectly placed to give you a few holes to warm up and then challenges you before you get too far along. Holes 5 & 7 are also fun. Water forces you to lay up, or in the case of 7 either lay up or challenge the creek on your second shot with a long iron or fairway wood. Hole #8 & #9 are tough. Hole #8 is deceiving. Long par 3 that looks shorter than it actually is. And #9 is tough. It's the hardest hole on the course. #12 is fun...another par 3 over water, but downhill this time. #15 is a great risk/reward hole...I love playing a cut driver, trying to shape it down the shoot. The greens have plenty of break, and are sooooooo much fun! Only reason I don't give it a 5-star is that they used to make their own sandwiches in the club house. They now have them delivered prepackaged and sitting in a fridge. I think that is a real bummer...their chicken salad was really good.

As a beginner to the game of golf, I was in need of clubs, a glove, shoes, the whole nine yards…read more Since Indianapolis no longer has a locally owned golf shop, I popped in for some advice while visiting my parents a few weeks back. The gentleman that helped me choose clubs explained that since I was 5'7" a tall set may fit me better or feel more comfortable. With that he sent me out to the range with a standard and tall iron to hit a few balls and see what I thought. The tall club ended up working better for me. With that feedback, he pulled irons from each of the tall sets that they had available for sale and sent me back out to the range to see which of the tall clubs I liked best. I was able to narrow it down from four to two and then tried out the woods based on the two irons I liked. I did not end up buying my clubs that day, but went back the next day before heading out of town to make my purchase. I was very pleased with how knowledgeable, friendly, and most of all patient, that the staff was. I'll definitely be stopping by on my future visits to Ft Wayne! I also don't mind spending a little bit more to support a small business :)

The Fairfield is a beautiful venue with a gorgeous event space. The large windows provide plenty of…read morenatural light, and the room itself creates an elegant atmosphere that was perfect for the event. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the venue. The venue coordinator was difficult to find throughout the evening and, when approached, was consistently unfriendly and came across as rude to guests. The bartenders remained behind the bar all night, even when an entire table of champagne glasses needed to be filled. Instead of assisting, guests had to carry all of the glasses to the bar themselves. On top of that, the drinks themselves were disappointing. The biggest issue was the venue's lack of staffing and service. This was an event with well over 100 guests, yet The Fairfield had only two bartenders and two additional staff members, one of whom was the venue coordinator. The outside caterer, who served an excellent dinner at 5:00 PM, actually had more staff on site than the venue. Table clearing was the responsibility of the venue staff, not the caterer, yet the venue didn't begin clearing tables until after 9:00 PM. By then, many guests had already cleared their own plates and trash in an effort to keep the room tidy. Even that became difficult because the trash cans had been overflowing for most of the evening. The venue also ran out of cake plates. When more were requested, the venue coordinator responded rudely, saying she would "see what she could do," despite the fact that fewer than 50 plates had been used at that point. Knowing the family hosting the event and having attended other events they've planned, I know they are incredibly organized and detail-oriented. I'm confident the event timeline, guest count, staffing expectations, and responsibilities were thoroughly discussed during the planning process. Based on what I witnessed, the shortcomings were not due to poor planning by the hosts but rather the venue's lack of preparation and execution. The Fairfield is a stunning venue, and it has so much potential. However, until customer service, staffing levels, and event management improve, I would have a hard time recommending it for larger events.

The lanes were easy to figure out even for a beginner. I was impressed with the food options; the chicken salad is excellent, and they have several local beers available. There are little tables and seating next to the bowling lanes so you can eat, drink, and bowl. The waitstaff was outstanding - friendly, helpful, and quick with anything we needed. I would happily come back for bowling next time I'm in town. Cons: This place is LOUD. If you are sensitive to noise, bring your favorite ear-plugs. Don't bother with the tiny parking lot in front of the building unless you need an accessible space! Drive past it and follow the signs to the large gravel lot. It is a further walk but much less cramped and more likely to find a spot.

Everything is sooooooo CLEAN. The atmosphere is nothing like back in the day. It's not dark with flashing lights and music blaring so loud you can't hear yourself think. (Don't get me wrong, I loved that as a teenager.) It's bright and welcoming. There is music playing, but it's not out of control loud. We had such a good time here. The food is really good too!!! They have some different options that aren't your standard bar/bowling alley food. I can't wait to go back!
