We hiked to the summit of Tray Mountain via Andrew's Cove. Although we had been to Tray Mountain…read morebefore, it was usually via Unicoi; this was our first time using the Andrew's Cove route. The hike was nearly 10 miles round trip and quite challenging. The weather was perfect, though a bit humid from recent rains, and we were soaked with sweat. We felt like we finally found a team with determination and patience. One of our new team members, nicknamed AlphaGo, had previously hiked ABC and EBC in Nepal. He was an amazing hiker, full of knowledge, humility, and a righteous manner. We truly enjoyed his company, along with his wife's.

Water is available via a hand water pump across from site #8 and the toilets are vault toilets but were well kept and did not smell horrible. The stream is gorgeous stream and loud enough to drown out most road noise. There are some hazardous trees and one 6inch tree did fall while we were there this weekend during a thunderstorm. At the back of the campground is a ~2 mile trail that connects to the AT. Most sites have a tent pad that will accommodate a 10'x10' tent. Sites 2, 4, and 8 driveways can really only accommodate 1 car and there are no extra parking spots. Driveways for sites 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 can accommodate 2 cars. Sites 1 and 3 are adjacent to the road and is going to be impacted by road noise. There is no campground host so be prepared to either scavenge wood or buy it in town, same goes for ice.

We loved our stay at the double safari tent at Unicoi State Park. The glamping site has everything…read moreyou will need! The only items I would add would be a small book shelf or another small table, because we needed another surface to put our things on. I would also add a flashlight to use when you go to the comfort stations. Our tent had a lantern, but it did not work. We also forgot to bring trash bags, and our tent only had one small one, but the visitor's center had some we could buy. The beds sleep great and the way the tent zips up with a double layer really keeps the bugs out! There is a grill and picnic table outside for meals and the two hammocks are perfect to relax in. The mini fridge held a lot of our perishable items and even had a medium sized freezer we used. The Keurig coffee maker was my favorite thing the tent had, because there is nothing like having a good cup of coffee each morning! They also provided a few k-cups as well. Timberline Glamping also offers A LOT of add on options to make your stay as personalized & stress free as possible. Whether you want a s'mores kit or a propane grill, they can have it waiting for you at your site. You can't get more convenient than that! The AC unit in our tent was very powerful. We were there in July and it was hot, and our AC unit kept our tent cool the entire duration of the trip. The tent has plenty of outlets inside of it, so you can charge your devices. Unicoi state park was a great location, because we were able to have fun at the beach, explore the walking trails, experience the air rifle class, and even rent an aqua cycle to use on the lake. The communication from Timberline Glamping is top notch. From the time you make your reservation until the check in, they email you updates and reminders along the way. I loved our stay at this location and I can't wait to stay at their other locations!

There was a small fridge, Kerig and heating unit. It was a very comfortable experience. Paid a regular fee, plus cleaning fee. We were only able to park one car at the site. Great experience for those who want to be out in nature without a nice bed or rv. It was a very nice experience ET nice, could have come down on the price a little bit,
