I can see how a snowflake would get their feelings hurt by her blunt attitude. I love it. She's honest and not fake at all. We need more of that these days. If you want a great haircut and a great conversation then I highly recommend Martins. If you want a half ass haircut, someone who is fake and will just kiss your ass so that you tip good, go to Supercuts or somewhere like that. The one bad review Martins has is from someone who didn't even get a haircut. Just walked in, got their feelings hurt and walked out. That's the kind of customer you don't want.

He gave us the prices clearly and answered all our questions, which was a great start. When we arrived, the shop itself was very nice, clean, busy, and had good music playing. The vibe was solid overall. However, when we walked in, no one greeted us right away- it was kind of awkward with a few stares. One of the barbers had AirPods in and acted like he didn't hear me, even after I repeated myself three times and pointed at my nephews hair. It was a bit embarrassing, especially since my nephew got a little shy in that moment. After a minute or two, another barber asked if I had called earlier and let us know we'd need to wait just a bit. That helped clear things up. The young man who eventually cut my nephew's hair was very kind, listened carefully to what he wanted, and delivered a nice cut. He charged thirty dollars and was cash only, which is worth noting if you're planning a visit. Despite the rocky first impression, the overall experience was good. The shop was clean, had good energy, and my nephew left happy with his haircut. He even said he'd like to go back, which says a lot. Maybe they could benefit from a small reception area or just a more welcoming check-in process for walk-ins. But all in all, a thumbs up from us.

This place is truly an old fashioned barbershop, which is what I like so much about it (cash only). I've enjoyed hearing Mike tell the history of his shop and the relationships he has made over the years. He has had the shop since the early 1970s. When my son and I first started going there (7 years ago) it was Mike and 3 other barbers working there...now it's just Mike and Laverne. When we first started going there it was a challenge to drag my son in there for a haircut, now he willingly goes and brags about how good his hair looks afterwards. If you are the type of customer who appreciates nostalgia, no frills, and a good hair cut at a fair price ($15) this is the place for you. Also, Laverne is quite the story teller and I've enjoyed overhearing her conversations with others even if she is not cutting my hair. These types of barbershops are becoming a thing of the past, which Mike and Laverne will attest to.

Just having loved to Tulsa, I have been dreading getting a new barber and have put off getting my hair cut in order to avoid it. After looking around online, this shop seemed to be a good mix between the service I wanted at a price I could afford. I will be honest, the reviews almost spooked me away, but I decided to go ahead and give it a try anyways, and I am so glad that I did. Tom did a great job with my haircut. He greeted me when I walked in the door and did a great job ensuring he knew what I wanted done with my hair. He worked quickly and gently, and finished it with a hot towel and straight razor. Yes, I have had longer hot towel finishes (as another review mentioned), but I'm not coming for the towel, I am coming for a quality haircut, which is exactly what I received. My personal experience found the negative reviews to be misleading and not accurate. All of this to say, I have found my barber in Tulsa now, and I will definitely be going back to Tom the next time I need a cut!
