Another customer asked them to heat his up too....he had already ate out of his too and they poured his into the same pot as mine! Luckily my son saw and I questioned her! She said she did mixed them! They offered me a new one which I gladly took but had I not noticed that would have been disgusting for me an the other customer! My wife ordered a chicharron taco and it was all hard pieces. We just ate an left! Definitely not worth a $13 menudo!

I always adjust my expectations for the kind of place that I'm going to, and comparing this place…read moreto a supermarket like H-E-B would be doing yourself a disservice, and you would be setting the wrong type of expectations . Chepes is basically the little bodega by my house. It's a grocery store, butcher shop, snack bar, restaurant...kind of everything packed into one little place. I go here pretty often because it's close and convenient. If I need a random grocery item and don't feel like driving to a big grocery store, this is where I go. But honestly, the real reason I go here is the food. The little grill inside makes really good tacos. If you just want to grab a few tacos and get on with your day, this is a great spot. The butcher counter is also really good. They have meats already seasoned and ready to cook, which is perfect if you're a gringo like me and can't make your own taco meat nearly as well as they can. Take it home, throw it on the grill, and you're good to go. But the big thing for me is the tamales. I go here on the weekends and pretty much always buy tamales. It has become one of those things I just do now. Weekend comes around, I'm probably stopping at Chepes for tamales. Nothing fancy about the place, and that's kind of the point. It's just a good little neighborhood market with good tacos, a good butcher counter, and really good tamales. If you live around here, it's definitely worth knowing about.

Castaneda Meat Market & Taqueria!…read more Little Mexico in the heart of Country A** Navasota! Again this is hidden gem fasho in Navasota that I used to frequent hella years ago. When I'm in the area, I always got to tap in! Since I've actually been to Mexico, this place definitely reminds me of my time there. Sweet Breads, Chicharrones, Tortillas de maíz made from scratch and the lady who's been working there forever that only speaks Spanish. Good thing I know how to speak Spanish and every time I do she hook up my tacos. This particular time I got 6 tacos, 1 pollo, 3 pastor, & 2 fajita. I usually get the Barbacoa, but this day they didn't have it made, but mannnn that barbacoa is like somebodies Abuela made it. The nostalgia hit me so much I forgot to take photos of my tacos! I always get my tacos with the Mexican Rice, frijoles (the Frijoles are top 3 best I've ever had) onion and cilantro. With there green and red salsas on the side. (Hella good) All of them straight smack. They never skimp you on the portions either, it's to the point where it's like a mountain of meat that overflows over then tortilla itself. Tap in!!!!

Nothing better than a fresh hot breakfast taco two of them to be more exact for less than a nasty old egg McMuffin. Staff is super friendly and the food is delicious if you like spice highly recommend the green sauce. This place is just wonderful I am going to come back here this weekend and buy one of their Giant pig skins fried pig skins and give it to my dog not all at once because I don't know what that would do to her but I know she eats chicharrones when I eat them so I can just imagine the fun she would have with the giant ones they have at this location. I'm going to have to take a picture of it with her but then fight her to get it away I'm thinking. This place has a fresh meat market too, already flavored meats all you got to do is throw them on the grill it doesn't get any better than that. The tortillas I love them super huge tortillas something that can qualify as a large burrito or a big quesadilla. Not these little pathetic things you see at regular grocery stores, these tortillas are dope. Dope a word anymore? Guess I'm showing my age. Anyway check this place out you will not be disappointed
