Offered to bring the food over to the pub a few doors down when ready. Kerala Fried chicken was excellent. Parottas were very good. Erachi Ularthiyathu was OK as a lamb dish since they didn't offer beef. Packing was good and kept parottas warm.

My Indian friend - who grew up in Mumbai - invited me to join him for dinner at this place. He himself had discovered it almost 10 years ago, when he first moved to London and when we sat down at the table he said: it hasn't changed a bit. Still looks the same! So, here's what we ordered: * Rasa Vada (Starter - Savory doughnut immersed in a spicy south Indian soup) * Chemmeen Poriyal (Prawn Curry) * Kozhi Varutha Curry (Chicken Curry) * Cabbage Thoran (cabbage spiced with mustard seeds) * Kerala Paratha (typical South-Indian bread) * Sweet coconut Paratha (bread filled with conconut) * We also tried to order the Beef Olarthiyathu, but unfortunately they were out of it; my friend was visibly disappointed I loved it all, especially the sweet coconut Paratha - heaven! My friend really loves this place. He said that during autumn they also do a traditional Onam celebration - Onam being the harvest festival celebrated by the Kerala people...so the South-Indian version of Thanksgiving? I'd love to pop by for that one day! When we arrived at 6:30 we were the first to arrive, but soon the place filled up and 30 minutes later every table was taken. I really recommend to make a reservation!

The food is consistantly excellent, very reasonable prices and really friendly staff. And after the recent revamp, it looks good too! Some of our favourite dishes are Garlic King Prawns, Chicken Shashlik, Lamb Madras and Peshwari Nan. Only downside is the pre-prepared sweet menu but by the time I reach there I only have room for some lychees anyway. Drop in next time you are in the area, you wont regret it

Why were we told at 7pm that we had to leave in the next 20 minutes? Manager claimed to have a big party booked for 8pm but they did not show up. He alternately claimed our "curfew" was 7pm, then 8pm then bizarrely 730pm. Clown. Strange to be so averse to business in these times but there you go. Food was brilliant when this place first opened, got preditably generic in more recent times but to be fair was very good on saturday. However I cannot in good conscience praise an establishment that was so openly rude to my fam - go and enjoy a kebab roll and some starters by all means but don't trust these clowns with anything important they don't appreciate or deserve that level of custom. They have a proper ethos - "We cannot afford to be expensive, but we can afford to be the best!" and it seems that all the food done here (with no addititives or pre-prepared sauces) is expertly cooked and spiced. Lahore One attracts a rolling clientele of hungry suited city workers and the local Indian population alike, which is great to see. Everyone's seated at simple wooden tables and benches. The manager (Jim I think) is absolutely charming and I was told by two diners that the kebab rolls are "the best in the East End". We had a really fine selection of curries, I tried only the vegetarian options, and they were as good as I've ever had. Found it really beautiful approach to food and serving. Basically if you're a fan of curry, this is probably one of the best places in London. Say no more. If you're not a fan of curry, come here to see what all the fuss is about. It's open throughout the week between 12 am and 12 pm and I think it's a good idea to book or get there early if you're going in the evening. Can't sell this place highly enough...

Everything just seemed rather overcooked, too greasy and tasted much the same. The portions were massive though - you definitely get value for money here. I love the fact that Lahore One is one of the few places left in London that still operates a BYO policy. Apart from the obvious cost benefit, this also means that they serve the most delicious salti lassi - in jugs, I'd happily drink one all by myself!

If you ever have the yen to head to India, but can't quite scrape together the time or the funds…read more.. or maybe you've already been, but are in the mood to reminisce, I suggest you hop on the District Line and head to East Ham. There's a plethora of Indian stores and restaurants on the East Ham High Street (and of course, the requisite population of Asians to patronize them... if you're anything but brown, be prepared to feel like a foreign minority - I've been stopped and asked if I'm "lost"), but after you've poked around a bit, I suggest you take a right out of the East Ham Tube station and head up the street to the vegetarian Saravanaa Bhavan restaurant for a delightfully tasty and authentic Indian meal experience. What's really cool about Saravanaa Bhavan (and what makes it worth the trek) is that they serve dishes that you've never seen anywhere in your run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant... and certainly not anywhere in Central London. Visually, you're in for a surprise. There are incredible inflated pancakes, mammoth tubes of golden crepes-like things three feet long, little tin cups filled with a rainbow of curries and sauces that you've never heard of before. For a lover of Indian food, this is a veritable funhouse of new and fascinating curiosities... you will want to look and stare and ask a thousand questions, and then, order everything! They have a couple of platter options, and for a first-timer, I recommend that you get both (especially since they're unbelievably cheap) - that way you get a good sampling of everything on offer. Plus maybe order a mashed-potato-filled dosa, just for good measure. The service is okay. The atmosphere is better than what you'd expect. But the food is delicious; good quality and exceptionally well-spiced - plus you really can't trump the whole novelty factor of the cuisine. Just be warned, the locals like it too, so on a weekend night you could be in for a bit of a wait... but consider this a fantastic sign - you're dinner will be worth it.

TLDR? Scroll to the bottom of the review…read more Went here for some late night takeaway about an hour and a half before closing time, and the reception we received was rather unwelcoming. We were seated and were pretty quick with our decisions. We told the server we wanted takeaway and were immediately and unceremoniously shuffled to a table at the back that is for takeaways. Not like the restaurant was packed. There were only two other tables of customers.Okay, fine. We order two curries and two kingfisher beers. We get cobras. No big deal, we aren't that fussy. The bill gets just about thrown on the table by a rather unfriendly server. Woah, what was that about? We pay the bill which gets picked up brusquely by another grim faced server and order two more beers as the food hasn't come out yet. Food comes out a minute after we get our beer. Awesome, we'll drink these and head out. About 1/3 of the way through our beers a server walks by and says in an annoyed voice,"your food is getting cold". Ffs, okay, we're going! We chugged our beers and left. The food was mediocre and grainy to add insult to injury. TLDR: Unwelcoming, unfriendly, rude service and the food was a resounding meh.
