I'm from NYC and I KNOW good quality Chinese food... this is not it! I'm really appalled at all of the reviews I read on how tasty the food from here is! Not even close! My husband ordered a broccoli with garlic sauce and vegetable fried rice combo... he didn't even eat it after taking a few bites. (Was) a regular customer until today. Prices have increased ridiculously, maybe they add a premium like a car dealer? General Tso was not good, chicken was soft not crispy, too sweet and the broccoli was hardly cooked. Fried rice had pork that was tough like a dog chew toy. This was the worst Chinese I've had in a while. So bad, I'm taking a break from Chinese. Wow... where to start. The ribs were old and terrible. I should have known when she said over the phone she didn't have enough for a large order that I was getting the bottom scraps, but I risked it and it didn't pay off. Dumplings were more wrapper than filling, and even though the dipping sauce smelled great, it was oddly spicy. Egg roll was bright pink in the middle and mushy. Crab rangoon were edible, but needed to be fried a bit longer. The lo mein was over cooked, and the vegetables were all mush. No crunch at all. One bite had a large piece of paper or wrapper in it, which was disgusting. General taso's was sticky and sweet, but no crunch and completely stuck together. I tried to grab 1 piece from the blob and it broke in half on the fork. It was a disaster. I always try to pick out something that was good, and here it was the fried egg noodle chips they threw in for free. Everything else was just not good. I would never go back. read more

This place is hard to know about if you aren't in the neighborhood. They have zero online presence. The outside looks sad and dingy. The only reason we walked in here one night is because we were having a food emergency and the competing Chinese food place across the street that used to feature vegan food had removed all of the vegan food from its menu. We were happy with our first experience at Cheng's and have gotten take out from here once a month or so ever since for the past year. The same woman always works the counter--she is always kind and patient with all of our vegan questions. They have brown rice available, which is always a plus. They will customize dishes for us--their house tofu and black bean tofu are good. The carnivore in our household always gets their pork egg foo young and chicken with broccoli and also likes both dishes. The inside is tiny--I would not recommend trying to sit there and eat in the "restaurant". It is also cash only. The prices are reasonable for the area. Not a bad bet for decent Chinese take out and a good vegan option. read more

Always met with such a nice staff. They're very prompt and the food is good. I love that they have a pork free hot and sour soup! Lol. But they are a small business so no delivery option. But out of alll the Chinese restaurants near me I find them to have the best food and most cleanly establishment out of them all. Always order from them. read more

They have THE BEST friend cheese wontons. And they're always very accommodating when I order my fried rice with just onion. Very friendly. I wish they took credit or delivered, but when we want Chinese, my fiance don't even consider the other 100 places in town. We just go for this one. read more

I ordered the sesame chicken combo (entree, pork fried rice and egg roll), crab cheese wontons and egg drop soup. The chicken was snotty in texture and the fried rice was mushy. The crab cheese wontons were really sweet and had a hint of cinnamon. They only take cash, I probably wouldn't ever eat here again. read more

This place is a true hidden gem. Cheng's is the best chinese takeout I've ever had so much so that I still regularly come down from Hoboken just to get my fix. The only downsides are no delivery, nothing online, and a small dining area for lunch only, but taken in the context that this place is run and all the cooking is done by a husband, wife, and occasionally their kids the downsides don't seem so bad. Also I don't know how the place has 2 $ I've always found it low priced for the amount of food you get. In all you will not be disappointed. read more

Honestly the best Chinese food around! It's definitely a hidden gem in Woodbridge. It's a family run business by great people. The food is so tasty and well made and affordable. I'm usually suspicious of Chinese food these days especially when all you hear about is the whole rat use incidences. This place uses actual chicken and it does not taste rubbery, fake or questionable. This is the only spot I can peacefully order chicken and broccoli from without fear. They do a remarkable job! I have eaten regularly here for years, and it is consistently good. My family is vegetarian so we pretty much always get the same things- veggie chow mein, mei fun, stir fried broccoli with brown sauce. I like this restaurant better than any of the other Chinese places in this area, and we've tried them all. read more
