I visited the Chemist Warehouse store at South Melbourne (Clarendon St) today. I was served by a gentleman at the prescriptions desk who was altogether unpleasant. I have been served by him before and his demeanour has been condescending and abrupt. I originally put this down to him having a bad day, but after copping his sarcastic and demeaning attitude on a number of occasions now, I have come to realise that this individual is just plain rude. I am part of a minority group and based on our interaction, I strongly suspect this has something to do with the hostility directed at me by this person. The arrogance and intolerance displayed was mind-boggling (particularly in this day and age), and when I left the store today it left me feeling quite disillusioned. It's disappointing as the products and prices at the store are good, and I have never experienced this treatment at other Chemist Warehouse stores. I would strongly recommend to Chemist Warehouse, that this staff member be provided with some 'soft-skills' coaching and educated on the importance of community tolerance. read more
