If you are one of those people, here's the lowdown: cheap/slightly discounted pharmacy goods (medications, vitamins, beauty products etc) in a fluro-lit shop. They have not spent any money on the fitout or training the staff to be helpful, which is one of the reasons everything is so cheap. So why am I reviewing this CW in particular? Speed of service. I went in to fill a prescription, prepared with book to sit down and wait the 20 minutes it usually takes for it to be dispensed. I'm speaking from a wealth of experience of many different chemists (not brand-loyal at all). I had barely opened the book, and the little buzzer doo-dad went off as violently as they always do telling me it was ready. I applaud you, Chemist Warehouse Cheltenham.

Sure, it's a chain but there are a number of things marking this particular outpost out from its brother and sister stores and making this quite possibly the best chemist in Northcote. For beauty products, you can't go past this Chemist Warehouse. Stocking drugstore mainstays such as Maybelline, Revlon and Rimmel alongside the occasional item by Calvin Klein's beauty line, and haircare by not just Dove and Loreal but more premium brands such as KMS and Joico as well, Chemist Warehouse punches far above its sometimes cheap and cheerful reputation. This particular Chemist Warehouse also stocks a good range of organic beauty products from brands such as Trilogy and Kosmea as well as deservedly cult lines including Invisible Zinc and French favourite Avène. For Northcote beauty junkies there is none better.

The staff are really friendly and helpful when you need them. On my last visit though, not a single staff member approached me or even acknowledged my existence. They were very busy though so I wasn't too put out by this. It just would've been nice to have someone around who could've directed me to the right shelf to find what I needed instead of having to wander around the whole pharmacy to find one thing.

The pharmacist and his assistant were just too polite and helpful, to the point where being not so well may be a good thing; even though you don't want that to happen too frequently. The generic variety of the antibiotics they sell represents great value for money unlike some generic medicines you can buy at some other pharmacies that dissolve into your mouth before you even have a chance to swallow them; kind of giving you that murky, yucky feeling in your mouth. A chemist isn't a place you would want to frequent too frequently; however if I ever needed to go to the chemist again - for heavens sake not too soon if at all; this establishment would be my next destination without re-thinking my decision. You want confidence in pharmacies as they contribute to your recovery from a major or minor illness to some degree; and you want trust as well as you are handing over your private details to them in order to get your medicine dispensed. There are just rows of female skin care products and make up where, as a man, I like to pick up the cheaper deodorants and body washes. The lady working there was also really good with helping a couple of us work out some cheap make up products for a university film project. It can be scary going to buy these sorts of products at other stores as I had no idea at how expensive "good" make up and shampoos really are! I'm glad there's a place like Chemist Warehouse around for me.

They tell you that they are giving you a cheap generic, but if you shop around you can often get a better price elsewhere. I found out yesterday that I could get an equivalent script at Priceline for less than half of Chemist Warehouse charged me last year! As a pensioner, I found it outrageous having to pay over $50 for 6 tablets there in May! People go to Chemist Warehouse automatically because they believe the advertising - that's why you have to wait a long time for scripts. I got sick of waiting a few months ago and went into Priceline to check the price of a private script to discover that is was the same, so I started going there instead and find the service is faster and the pharmacist and staff are more helpful and friendly. I also was pleased to see that the Pharmacist informed me of a much cheaper option through the PBS to get the equivalent of a very pricey private script. Priceline Balaclava also give Seniors Discount on normal priced items. It's about time Chemist Warehouse showed more interest in helping customers to find the cheapest price instead of lining their own pockets! The service there also leaves a lot to be desired as it's often hard to find a staff member to assist you and they don't always know their stuff.

The ambience isn't that crash hot - think bright lights, generic music and loads of signage written on fluro paper that might quite possible send you in to a fit. But the range is huge and the prices are quite competitive and I I like that I can come here and buy all sorts of health and beauty items in one go. It's a win for me. Don't miss the superfoods and protein supplement aisle if you're in to making smoothies at home.

They stock all the usual pharmacy items such as toothbrushes, creams, insect repellant, soap and bandages. They also have the prescription counter up the back complete with friendly pharmacists. If that counter is busy you can head up to the counter near the door and someone can help you there. They tend to have a couple of staff on the floor amongst the aisles as well. This is great because you can ask questions more discreetly without other people in the queue behind you listening in. Down the left hand side of the store they have Maybelline, Loreal and make-up products. This area is set out very well and it is easy to find what you are looking for. The pricing was a little higher here than I have seen elsewhere but the pharmacy type products seemed on par with other shops.

Its so easy to get distracted in this store and walk away with 10 products you already have at home. Nevertheless, you wont be disappointed with the markdowns or discounts. Even if you do double up chances are you've saved at some point, its one of the cheapest pharmacies to re-stock on all those common household items & more! They also have great discount's on fragrances, which makes for handy gift ideas. The Doncaster store is particularly good as it is one of the few in Melbourne that's open until 10.00pm on week nights and 8.00pm on Saturdays.

I am a frequenter to the CW stores. And i have to say I have been blown away by this store…read morespecifically. I often frequent this store to buy anything from medicine to drugs. The staff have been amazing and unjudgmental at my (often) lack of insights about the products. The tall blonde manager is often a pleasure to see and I want to thank the store for their service.
