She is no nonsense and very professional but you can tell after talking to her a while that she really knows what she's doing and what you are going through. Most of all you get the sense that she really wants you to get better. She can tell you straight what you need to do to get back on track. I was in the Saturday group. From the first day I was welcomed and felt at home. It was easy to open up or just listen to what other people were experiencing. Believe me, you think you are alone until you realize that other people are doing the same things, suffering the same consequences and feeling just as bad and angry and hopeless about it. It's not easy but it is easier than I thought it would be. They teach you to recognize the triggers that lead you into situations you can't control and techniques for avoiding the consequences. We paid cash happily for an addiction/alcohol assessment at which time my husband who had relapsed hard after 15+ years of sobriety was told no he could not utilize the tele-health treatment option because we lived in WI and WI TEEN Challenges do not offer tele-health at this time, BUT, they strongly implied that out-patient was an option at the Maplewood location, which was the option we were hoping for since that would amount to a 30-40 minute drive for him after work, since it would be 6-9 PM Monday - Thursday for 10 weeks as opposed to an over 3 hour drive to any WI MN Teen Challenge locations. We were excited that he was going to get the help and support that he needed. Then he gets the call from Patricia (Tricia) telling him that he could not start out patient in Maplewood because we live in WI and it was against MN law and she can't change the law. Please note they knew where we lived and knew that driving to Madison or Milwaukee or where ever the WI facilities are was not an option d/t distance of 3+ hour drive no matter where in WI. They took our money knowing our address, gave false hope of getting into a "Christ-Centered" recovery program and then became short/cross when with emotion clearly in his voice and almost in tears on the phone almost begging for an exception to the supposed MN law...Christ would have been upfront from the start, Christ would not have lied and took our money knowing full well it was under false circumstances, Christ would find a way! MN TEEN Challenge when did you stop being CHRIST centered and become a money hungry deviant?!! BTW it appears that even though they ALREADY KNEW at the time of assessment that my husband would not be accepted to MN TEEN Challenge in Maplewood MN due to our permanent address being WI we will not be refunded our money, and that being said as an RN who has worked in the hospital and jail settings for years- "said assessment" is only for use at MN TEEN Challenge and holds no value or significance to any other treatment facility/program. SHAME on you MN TEEN Challenge!!
