This place is walking distance to my apartment and while I haven't walked there yet I just might in the warmer weather! I am so happy that I found this place because I love going and having some classic bar food and a drink or two while watching a sports game. The service here is always great and they always take great care of us. I love that there are regulars at the bar and that its not just the staff that is friendly. I am definitely glad that I found a place with good food, good drinks, good service, and great vibes so close to where I live. Chelio's quickly became one of my favorite places to go to with friends or family and I anticipate coming back many times in the future! read more

Happy Christmas indeed! We went to Chelios Pub in Aurora and were greeted with such a warm welcome that I half-expected someone to yell, "Norm!" when we walked in. Chelios is a fantastic neighborhood bar, and obviously as a Hawks fan I love the hockey vibe. The drinks are strong and I've always experienced pretty good service. Nice neighborhood bar. Lots of TVs for sports, lots of seating. Good beer selection. Food is typical pub grub, good portion sizes. They have slots. Classic horseshoe shaped bar fills center of room, great to meet more people while hanging out and nicer than staring at row after row of bottles. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Everyone was masked. Only con is really the overall cleanliness of this place. In the era of Covid we're all on edge about places that look germy and its been awhile since they've been scrubbed and this place could use a good cleaning. I mean like a pressure washer cleaning. Tables are sticky, ladies bathroom is "gross" (or so I hear), front windows are dirty, etc., etc. But if you're not a germaphobe, or can handle some grime, this is a nice place. The service sucked honestly and the manager was rude and would rather argue with customers than talk w their server who's getting paid to sit on her phone in a booth. Will not be coming back. 2 starts for the Fried pickles Only . The fried pickles were phenomenal. I ordered buffalo fried shrimp and it said on the menu it comes with fries or baked potato, veggies, garlic bread and a cup of soup. (Online menu says that as well it's what made me want to go there). I order and asked if I can get a baked potato server says yes then ask if i wanted toppings on it and i said sure, I ask for ranch to eat w my buffalo shrimp and she's says of course & I asked if i can get french onion w my meal and she says yes. I get my check and my meal went from being $13.95 to $24 because they up charged me for everything but no one told me. I was charged $2 for baked potato $2 for it having chz and sour cream, $2 for the tiny togo ramekin of ranch that she gave me for my shrimp and $1 up charge for my onion soup. Mind you when I ordered the server did not say any of this would be up charge & on the menu it says it comes with your choice of fries OR baked potato AND A cup of soup. I get the manager and she says yeah it's all an up charge and I said well she didn't tell me I would've ordered accordingly if I knew I was paying an extra $10. she said well there's nothing she can do about it. I explained that when I looked at the menu & menu online it says it comes with either or and a cup of soup. She told me since i didn't get soup of the day it was an up charge and IT SAID THAT NO WHERE AND THE SERVER DID NOT MENTION THAT EITHER. I asked if she can just take it off because as a server if I failed to notify a guest that anything was an up charge the manager would take it off and have a talk w me because it was my job to let them know if the menu did not say that. She said she guesses she can do it only this time ( After she told me there was nothing she can do about it). For me, Chelios' is exactly what I expected. Meh food, cheap drinks, and plenty of hockey fans. It was hard for me to be as let down as other folks were, because given the area and the fact that this pub is in a strip mall, I kind of got what I expected. Could it be better? Yes. Is it a convenient local spot to catch a game? Yes. Would I go there for the food? Definitely not. I've been here twice now. The first time being last spring with my family for drinks when my husband and I were house shopping. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for drinks and what ended up being food as well because we stuck around so long. Their $5 log island special got the best of us so we just kept on sippin'! I ordered the buffalo chicken salad and while I didn't have any specific complaints, it definitely wasn't the best salad I've ever had. This last visit in, my husband and I came to catch a little of the Blackhawk's game, enjoy a drink and some dinner. We sat ourselves at a high top table near the big screen close to the bar and were greeted promptly. You could tell everyone in the place were either regulars or strictly in for the game. Chelio's of course is a hockey bar, so all of their specials are hockey themed. They even have a couple red buzzers on the ceilings by the bar that go off when the hawks score - pretty cool! Here are my highs and lows of our eventing... Highs: - Food and drink specials! I enjoyed a $4 glass of cabernet and the Chicken ZaZa daily special which included mozzarella, grilled veggies, rice pilaf, garlic bread and a cup of soup of my choice (I went with tomato). - Chicken and veggies were very good! - Our waitress was friendly and on top of her game - Plenty of TVs to enjoy the game - Total bill for a glass of wine, a beer, and two meals was $30! Lows: - Tomato soup was so-so - Garlic bread was a joke. It might as well have been cardboard because it didn't taste like much. - Rice pilaf was okay, but honestly the kind I make out of a box I think is better. - SUPER loud. Granted the hubs and I didn't go there for an intimate night, but I literally had to shout across our small table just to make a comment. High/Low: We were in and out in a little less than an hour. Went to the bar before going to a wedding rehearsal and dinner. We sat down at a table and waited several minutes for the bartender/waitress arrive with the menus. When she returned I order a Sam Adams lager since they didn't have Oktoberfest. The others in our party (2) were discussing what they wanted to order. The bartender left, returned with popcorn without my beer and failed to take the others order. After another 10 minute wait with her return, we left. Now I usually wouldn't say anything but there were only 2 other patrons in the place. One playing slots, the other drinking a beer. I don't recommend this place. I haven't stepped foot in this place since December 2017 because of the blatant racism from the waitress we were unfortunately stuck with. Our group was 2 caucasian, and 3 mixed and/or hispanic people. From the beginning the waitress was more friendly and all smiles towards the caucasian people. When we placed a drink order she had to come back to check our ID's but barely glanced at the 2 white peoples' and extremely studied the other 3. She then made a big deal about my friend's ID being out of state with his home address on it. (He is from Washington, but goes to school in California. It is illegal to use a dorm room as an address on your license so he has his Washington address on a California License.) She didn't seem to understand that and "had to verify with a manager." She disappeared for about five minutes and into the kitchen. We could hear her laughing. She then waltzed back over and while smacking on gum, said "yeeahhh this won't work. Do you have another ID? Like a Washington ID?" My friend, being polite but slightly confused, said, "I haven't had a Washington license since I was 16... I still have that ID but its in California and its expired." Mind you, I'm already annoyed, and everyone at the table is noticing her behavior. She then had the audacity to say "Um well don't you think you should carry it with you so you don't run into this problem all the time?" I lost it. I slammed my hand on the table and I blurted out "MAM HE DOESNT EVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM." the rest of the table chimed in with "yeah this is weird" and such comments. She then turned to the 2 Caucasian people in our group and said, "y'all are welcome to stay and order food I just can't serve him a drink." To which, our glorious Caucasian friends said, "No thanks. Join the workers of chelios' pub and grill in an old school hockey bar filled to the brim with Blackhawks decor. Service was immediate as soon as I sat down but slowed down throughout the visit. For the appetizer I ate the chili cheese fries. I was thoroughly impressed. The chili had a little heat to it and the fries were still crispy. For my entree I ordered the skirt steak sandwich. It came with a chicken pasta soup that came out so quick. You could tell it was microwaved because the dish came out hotter then the soup. The chicken in the soup was also dried out. The skirt steak sandwich came out in a timely manner. I was asked how I would liked it cooked so I ordered medium rare it came out well done. The steak was still kind of juicy but it was definitely overcooked. The fries with the sandwich were unbelievable. Overall I can guarentee they know how to cook fries to perfection the food was still decent and better bar food than just about any other bar. The bartenders crystal and amber were both really nice stayed busy. I was fine waiting a few more seconds for them to free up. At the start I had really high hope's do to a delicious appetizer only to be a little disappointed with the rest. I recommend coming and visiting I am sure this place gets packed for Blackhawks games. read more

I've been to this bar twice and I'm not impressed. The food is mediocre and the waitresses/bartenders need more training. As I walked in I noticed it was fairly quiet and not too many people. There is, however, this one very intoxicated older lady (about late 50s) and she seemed to be by herself. I also saw that she was drinking out of a champagne glass and I saw the bartender holding an empty bottle of champagne. As I observed everyone's drink it's safe to say that this older lady drank that entire bottle by herself. Another important fact is that I DID NOT see them (bartenders) make her a glass of water. This lady proceeds to (innocently) harass people, myself included. And still nothing from the bartenders. I watched a couple say something to the bartender about her and still.....NOTHING. I had to finally say "okay, you need some water" which she then asked for. My problem (aside from the food) is, why did it take a stranger to encourage drinking water when you as the bartender see that she's drunk, crying, rubbing/touching, grabbing, and kissing people she doesn't know?! I'm thoroughly disappointed in all of the bartenders. read more

This place could be so much more, but it clearly isn't. I've been here a couple of times for a couple of different occasions. First time a group of us went for the karaoke night. The place was pretty filled, but we were able to get a high top. The crowd is what you would expect by the Aurora/Montgomery area....not dogging on the area, well, yeah I am. The price for drinks are all right. They don't have a big selection on brews, just your standard shopping center "bar" with miller lite... The second time I went was with some friends on a Sunday for a late lunch. It was dead. No one was in the dining area but a couple of drunks up at the bar. I'm referring to the "I've been drinking aggressively all by myself and will be loud about how miserable I am" kind of drunks. So that was annoying. There were too many servers working for the crowd that was there, which is funny because service was completely absent on this trip. They have your standard bar & grill food... I got the pulled pork sandwich and creamy chicken & rice soup. The soup was good. I don't know if was because of my hangover or what, but I ate that shit like it was my last meal. Next was the sandwich. Disappointing. You could tell the pork was cooked in a slow cooker, which isn't a bad thing, but you'd expect more from a restaurant. The pork wasn't even cooked long enough because it wasn't shredded, just chunked. They loaded way too much BBQ sauce, that had no flavor that you couldn't taste that actual meat. It came with a side of standard fresh from the freezer fries and a pickle. Maybe this place is just good for drinking cheap domestic drafts and I'm sure it would be a blast to watch the Hawks play here...after all the place is named after one. But I won't be back to fill my stomach with grub. read more

I would give zero star if it was an option. Went here with my boyfriend, on a quiet tuesday night- the bar had several loud, over-served patrons, the server was uneducated about any cocktails or the draft selection, and when I asked if there was a drink menu, (which your menu instructs you to ask your server for) I was told they didn't have one, but had a 'standard' bar. Sub-standard is more like it, as the bartender and server were much busier talking than pouring my beer... Slow service and below average food was nothing compared to the DISGUSTING bathroom. The stalls literally had caked on layers of filth that clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. Sure the restroom was picked up, toilets were clean, but if your staff is too complacent to wipe up a mess in the bathroom that your customers see, I can only imagine how filthy the kitchen would be. I was so grossed out I couldn't finish my food. I will never go back, which is unfortunate because a local place to grab a burger and catch a hawks game would be awesome! but food poisoning is a risk I'm not willing to take. read more

I have never been to a Hockey bar before, being from Cleveland. It was fun - but it scared the crap out fo me when the Blackhawks scored and all the sudden there are lights flashing, people singins and dancing... This pub was disappointing. First it was located in shitty little mall right next to a lawyers office. It was small and I ordered there soup. It tasted like "CANNED Goods", it was horrible. Didn't order anymore food. Chris, STICK to teaching people how to skate on COLD ICE. Frankly, I had never heard of this place before. Apparently, I drove by it every day to and from work, but never noticed. I went with a group of friends and we had the ultimate nachos, the meatball sub, and a few other items. My friend who had the nachos found them cold, flavorless, and the red and black chips disgusting. He paid $10 for those and took a single bite of each flavor combo, then asked if anyone else wanted it - none of us did. I had the meatball sub, which is a 9" french roll with huge mozzarella, decently flavored sauce, and 3 (three) meatballs. That's right - only THREE. and they're not big meatballs, but the standard 1 1/2" diameter meatball. So essentially, i paid $10 for a french roll grilled swiss cheese with marinara sauce. ...and then there's the fact that I do not drink alcohol nor smoke cigarettes. They have a patio in FRONT of their entryway, where they usually have 3-4 smokers sending clouds of toxic ash all over the entrance. Being ALLERGIC TO TOBACCO, it makes for a very unpleasant approach to the place. I do wish hey had soda options besides Coke products. I know Coke products are standard, but I am allergic to the undisclosed flavor ingredients of Coke, so I cannot drink anything from the spray nozzle they use to distribute Coke from. So, the approach is toxic cigarette smoke, the food is awful, but they seem to like to play the entir "greatest hits" albums start to finish of one band, then after an hour switch to the next band. Chelios' Pub & Grill - This guy is wicked smahrt! - Sports Bars Near Me - Aurora, Illinois

This is the quintessential neighborhood sports bar. And given the bar's Blackhawks theme, it makes it our favorite local pub&grill. During Blackhawks games, the tvs all switch to the game and the volume is punched up. When the Hawks score, the many goal lights scattered throughout the place light up and withing moments, the familiar Chelsae Dagger starts blaring in their honor. It's makes for a fun time. As for their food, I haven't had anything I didn't like. There is a pretty wide variety on the menu but it is mostly your traditional pub fare with a couple twists here and there. The price is fairly cheap and we feel comfortable bringing Jack (age 7) in with us during the earlier evening hours. read more

Maybe not quite 5 stars, 4.5 would hit it for sure! This is a medium/small bar with restaurant style food. The average beers available, i think they have maybe 12 on tap. The beer prices are good and the days they have specials are even better. The food here is better than the average bar food and its still at a good price. A friend that is a bartender in an area bar says you can't compare the food at Chelio's with other bars, not the same. Everything i have tried has been good and very fresh. I have to be hesitant with some foods & soups because of an allergic reaction to MSG....I've yet to have any issues with any of the food at Chelio's. I love their soups. The bartenders and servers are great; always nice and quick. It should go without saying that this place is a Blackhawks Bar. The place gets packed on game night, anyone complaining about it being crowded should be slapped, lol. They do show other sports all the time and if the Blackhawks are playing while a NFL game is on, they will show both. And if there is a game you want on, they will take care of you...that includes NASCAR too. This is a great little local bar! read more

We eat here at least 4 time a month. Every meal is spot on. The service is very good. Loads of drink specials. 24 TV's. If you are a Blackhawks fan they raffle off an authentic jersey near the end off the 3rd period when the Hawks play. I just like this place. I've come here maybe four times over the past year and typically just before the dinner rush. The restaurant area is lengthy with plenty of seating options. You can choose from a booth, table, or bar stool table or the bar to eat and or drink. They have a handful of bar-stool tables over by the glass which overlooks the hockey area as well. I recommend sitting here. Each table & corresponding bar stools represent a different NHL team so I naturally select the best team represented, my beloved Chicago Blackhawks! Let's get down to business though...the food and beer. Honestly, I come here for the food. Chelios' has an ENORMOUS menu! You name it, they probably have it...and everything they make is damn good! I prefer lighter sandwiches myself and have woofed down their BLT and Pub Clubs as they were very tasty. Sandwiches come with soup or chili too..a nice touch. Their beer menu leaves a bit to be desired but let's leave that one alone. On to the ambiance, this place has nice touches. I mentioned the arena-side seats to catch a game while you eat but the rest of the seating is fan friendly too. They have tv's stacked up everywhere, an assortment of video games and prompt and courteous service. In the summer I know they have an outdoor seating area as well. Cheers! read more
