If I could can image what the aroma of delicioso smell like its Chelas Bakery. First visit here recommended by El Trigo restaurant (down a couple doors) they said it was amazing, yes it is! Breads are huge and full of flavors - cajeta, guava, guava y queso, crema, pina, and pumpkin. The bolillo larger sized, but when I say soft/pillows like, soft cruchiness outside too. I couldnt wait dipped this into the champurrado....OMG! Outside & interior extremely clean and has a high quality standard. Thank you and will be back.

So much good wheat bread. Some of them are filled with delicious fillings like strawberry, vanilla, pumpkin, pineapple, etc.

Had gone to the restaurant down the street and as we walked to it, we got the strong, sweet aroma of the wheat bread. After lunch, we went to check out the bakery and our faces lit up with the bread selections. It reminded me of my childhood. The bread filled with calabaza (pumpkin) was always one of my favorites. They had that others like strawberry filled, pineapple, vanilla cream and many others. Someone was picking up a cake while we were there and they had done such an amazing job with it. I'm sure it tasted delicious. Definitely going back for more bread soon.

They offer a variety of different sweet breads, bolillo and they also sell donuts. We were greeted upon entering. Prices are competitive with the most bakeries. Prices have drastically gone up everywhere, but what do you do? We picked up just three pieces of bread and they were delicious. But I do recommend getting your pastries placed in a bag. Mine were replaced in a brown bag. One of them was slightly hard the next day. This area is out of my way, so I probably wouldn't come back. But good to know there is a bakery with delicious sweet bread around.

Here is their guava empanada before I left the bakery. The pan dulce is enormous and delicious.
    Rafa N.

The empanadas from this bakery is the best! The calabaza and camote had nice bits in the filling. Most of their pan dulce is made out wheat, which I like the best. The pan dulce stayed fresh for four days in a plastic bag. That tells you about the quality of their sweet bread. I have found my new bakery.

New location. First time here. Empanadas are huge. And there is a bigger than average variety.

Hear me out!! This has to be the best place to go and get bread ever. The bread omg so good and huge too!! Highly recommended!! The pan de muertos, Empanadas de crema, Concha's, and Pumpkin concha bread so freakin good. The coffees are good too if you want hot or cold. Customer service top notch. The place clean and smell of bread before and after coming in or outside. I swear go here if you love bread in the IE

I store mine in ziplocks but size is awesome. There's regular sized and larger ones and even giant ones too.
    Janell E.

I love the bread here. Always fresh and warm. They make regular sized bread as well as large and gigantic too. We found it by accident, it's a hole in the wall very hidden but once you've found it hard to miss. Service is good. They're nice and welcoming but usually super busy. You cannot go wrong with this bakery. I drive down from Anaheim so that should tell you something

Amazing! Though it is out of the way a bit it's totally worth the effort! Great selection of wonderful, fresh breads and pastries! Have tried nearly all and everything has been fantastic, great flavors and always fresh. If you like traditional Mexican breads you will love it here!

Location is near Mission Inn on Main Street. Price is on the higher end so plan to pay an average of $30/person. The only thing that was a bummer for us was the loud music for lunch hour experience. The music was loud and made me think it would be best for a club atmosphere? Maybe it was just me but I felt anxiety eating because the music was so upbeat and loud. Music is a big part of the eating experience. I know some people may be fine with it. For example, we had breakfast at Tio's Taco and the music was spot on for the dining experience.

I found out about it through my cousin, who's a UCR alum, and I'm really glad I finally got to try it. The staff were super nice and attentive, constantly coming by our table to check if we needed more water, tortillas, or anything else we might want. Even with how busy it was, they still made sure everyone was taken care of, which I really appreciated. The restaurant was packed, and it actually surprised me because I don't usually see that many people at restaurants in Riverside. The energy inside felt lively but still comfortable. One of my favorite parts was the fresh tortillas. They come out hot and fresh from the oven, and you can literally watch them being made right in front of you, which made it even better. And the best part is they're free. We ordered the carne fajitas and chile relleno. The fajitas were incredible, the meat was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, with that perfect smoky sear that comes from being cooked fresh on a hot skillet. Everything came out sizzling and stayed flavorful with every bite. The chile relleno was also really good, with a nice balance of savory and slightly creamy filling that paired well with the sauce. It was actually my first time trying fajitas, and I can confidently say I'll be ordering them again the next time I come back. I definitely plan on returning while I'm still at UCR to make up for all the years I didn't know this place existed.

We have not been here since the 90's and I have to say, it was much better back then. All in all, there is just no flavor. The salsa tasted like watery tomatoes, our waitress gave us a little side of habanero salsa to incorporate with it but that heat is the extreme for me. We ordered the Mesquite chicken and steak fajitas which were less than average. Not sure if it was just a bad day, but the taste of the protein did not match up to the wonderful smell of BBQ outside the restaurant. The tortillas were just ok, first batch was not even warm. My Michelada was good though. Bummer visit after being away for so long. Looks like the interior could stand a makeover.

Their Mojarra for one, is amazing with some corn tortillas, beans and rice, and lettuce. The lime garlicky sauce on that one, is what I've been dreaming of. It was THE star of the show. Great size for two to share, and we had a blast just eating and enjoying the sights laid out to see. Their pickled onions got a spicy kick to it! I loved the added crunch instead of just having the typical hot salsa. They're all made from materials that were bound to go in the trash, most notably cans that they open for cooking. So you'll see lids and the other material from cans beautifully molded into these structures. It may seem random but I found lots of humor and play thrown into the craftsmanship of it all. Some pieces are like playing I Spy. It was funner to see than a lot of museums I've gone to actually. It's truly just packed with art.
