We originally came here on an invitation from our financial advisor. We've been back s number of times since. This is a fun place to go. Jean Pierre's offers several options. There are different food offerings such as Italian, tapas, Mediterranean and the like. There Baldo something called cooking with the chef. With cooking with the chef it is restricted to a specific number of couples. In cooking with the chef you actually participate in making your meal. There is typically three courses. One time we made crab stacks which were delicious The chef prepared all of the ingredients. Each ingredient is passed along to build the appetizer. In addition, you might get selected to help the chef directly. That night we had a stuffed chicken breast with root vegetables. The dinner was finished with chocolate crepes with a creme anglais sauce. You bring your own wine to drink. The cost is $65.00 per person. We ve been back numerous times and have never had a bad meal. It's a great place to go with several other couples. Be forewarned, the doors fill up fast so you often have to book months in advance. read more

We went here a number of years ago for a cooking demonstration for my 40th birthday and enjoyed it so much, but kept forgetting to go back. This time we went for a Cooking Class and it was memorable again. Joan and Chef Jean Pierre are the best, what a great team. We brought a nice bottle of wine to drink, class was a mixture of instruction followed by hands-on cooking/preparing. We prepared three courses: 1. Smoked Duck and Chicken Tower Salad (wow!) 2. Crab Cakes with Mussel Sauce (who knew to put cream in with mussels to make a mussel cream sauce for crab cakes?) 3. Hot Chocolate Souffle (gluten free! my wife loved it and it was only eggs, chocolate, and sugar) We could make all three at home (I'm pretty sure) Small class (only ten people), great Chef, great atmosphere (TVs showing close-ups of Chef on wall), plus hands-on! We booked out next class for April before we left, can;t wait for "A Taste of Italy" read more

Very excellent way to do date night. Love love love You learn to cook, but you get a full serving of a 5 course meal. bring your own wine (but the wine & spirits is one parking lot over) read more

What a unique place in the most unexpected location. I had the pleasure and honor to have my birthday party there and I will try to summarize that memorable evening. The meal was very enjoyable but what was even more enjoyable is being able to cook with Chef Jean Pierre himself. The special menu that night consisted of foie gras appetizer, crab cakes, rack of lamb, and a dessert sample. Foie gras was delicate and it was topped with shallots and truffle oil/cider vinegar dressing. The whole thing just melted in your mouth. Same can be said of crab cakes. Rack of lamb was amazing as well. Service was great from Joan, Chef's wife. Chef chatted with all of the guests and talked about the ingredients of each dish as well as preparation technique. If you appreciate classic French cooking you will love this place. Everyone was swooning over Chef's French accent and he is such a nice guy as was evident from our short conversation. In spite of classic French cuisine the place is not stuffy at all. In summary, it was a special night for me. Every dish was executed to perfection with some dishes standing out as the most incredible thing I have ever ate. read more

Incredible. Chef Jean-Pierre is a legend in Bucks. So glad we got a chance to witness him in action. Perfectly executed refined culinary bliss. Merci read more

It has been more than 5 years since I've attended Chef Jean Pierre's "Cooking With the Chef" Class. It was so much fun, the food was phenomenal and I bought his cookbook. I have since made his crab cakes over baby greens with his "beaucoup" sauce for numerous family members and friends. It's still the best crab cake I've ever had and I love to be able to share these delicious meals with my loved ones. I highly recommend these classes and have been trying to coordinate with my schedule to make it work, but need to work much harder! read more

He may be a talented chef but his personality is miserable. This class was a gift from my fiancé and he ruined it. Think carefully before you put out the money to this business read more

I came here to take one of the kids I mentor to lunch during the holidays. Granted we are from philly so the drive is 45-to an hr. When we got in the parking lot, we stayed in the car for a moment to gather our things, then the kid I was with exited the car first. The guy who owns this spot "Chef Pierre" came out and said "you guys can not park here, if you want to park somewhere and sit in your car go somewhere else". I was completely confused and said "excuse me"? This dude then said "park somewhere else and take your sh*t with you". Then closed the restaurants door. He was referring to a water bottle that dropped out of the car when the kid got out. I was completely embarrassed and disrespected at the same time and had to keep in mind I had a kid with me who's literally learning how to be a man from me. I told the kid wait here and walked inside the restaurant to figure out what just happened, his choice of language towards a kid and why would he assume we weren't parked in the parking lot to dine at his restaurant. As soon as I opened the door he became extremely rude and told me to "go go go leave now". I had to literally raise my voice to let him know who we were and why we were there???? he was and disgusting for thinking it's ok to talk to someone he never met before like that and that we were there to eat not parlay, and that the kid dropped his water by accident. Then when he seen that it was creating a scene he tried to place nice guy and said "ok happy holidays happy holidays" Horrible experience, obnoxious nasty people like this do not deserve to earn anyone's money!!! I don't get into race but yes we are black as a black male you learn when someone thinks little of you within the first few moments of meeting someone. He didn't expect us to be customers, and told a kid to pick his sh*t up and go while he's with an adult. This all happened in 3 min. Inexcusable, I do not write reviews but this needs to be brought to attention because it's not right. read more

If you are looking for a gift or special/different night go here!! Great value! Great gift! Great time!!! My Dad is one of the toughest people to buy presents for ever! I got a class here for him for his birthday this year - and I was SO happy when he couldn't stop raving about it. We had a blast there together! It was one of the best presents I can imagine. Its run by Chef Jean Pierre and his wife, he was once the executive chef at Le Bec Fin during the 80s which should tell you enough on its own. They offer many different theme options, I choose Lobster Fest, as my dad loves lobster. You can bring wine and if you bring white they give you an ice bucket. It was interactive and he talks to you and makes jokes the whole time. The first course was a lobster tower - a kind of lobster salad stack with many different ingredients (they give you full recipes and how tos at the end) it included mango, cilantro and lots of others with a great fresh dressing, it is one of the best things I have ever eaten, honest. The second course: Lobster bisque, which I was seriously hoping for, the broth was smooth and rich and he put it over huge chunks of lobster and gnocchi. Lobster bisque is one of my dads favorite foods, he ate his bowl really quickly and they gave him a full second helping when he (jokingly) asked for a top off. The third course: Surf and turf with a full lobster tail and filet, served with veggies and a bernais sause. OMG I can't even think about this course with out my mouth watering. Everything was perfect, I can't think of a better word. Dessert: Floating island. I can't remember what this was exactly but there was coffee and some booze in the sauce and a meringue top. Can't go wrong! Honestly this is one of the BEST deals I can imagine, my dad and I not only had a fantastic time, and loved interacting with the other people there (about 20 people per class) and learning how to cook, but we figured the meal would have cost at least $85 a person at a restaurant, and it was only $55 here for all that food plus the experience !! As I said my Dad is very hard to please, but he CANNOT stop raving about this, he took my mom and some friends back a few weeks later. PS: Two people canceled (and if you cancel within 24 hours you still get charged) BUT they packaged up the whole meal for them to pick up, great touch even though they had filled their spots. read more

Very disappointing! He showed us how to put a salad together. No cooking lesson. He was short tempered and hardly spoke. You also can't understand anything he is saying due to heavy accent. Won't be back. read more

This is ok if you're not really interested in learning new techniques and actually preparing a meal. The format has to limited because of the time restrictions, and it's fun, but you don't really get to practice preparing much. It's more of a socializing event, and If that's what you're looking for, it's great food and good value. read more

Stop everything your doing and call your friends and family and make a reservation. ..........the chef prepares a great meal.......they will work and plan one for your group......it is a byob. ....which is even better......this is an experience........you can see the chef's passion when preparing his specialties. .....you can't get this value or experience like this anywhere......plan a dinner or a party.....your guest will want to be invited back.....awesome read more

Great chef, great food, laid back atmosphere. However, he asked if I was a terrorist when I told him where I was from. I laughed it off as I understand he was very likely joking, but it totally threw off the rest of my experience and made me feel awkward. read more

Can't express in words how wonderful every meal I have had at Jean Pierre's has been. I have attended private parties, and some of his monthly dinners and every thing presented has been outstanding. He never disappoints. His combinations of foods are amazing and a delight to our taste buds. Each visit is a memorable occasion that will be remembered a very long time. Joan and Jean work so well together and if you haven't already, you need to put a dinner with Jean on your Bucket List! read more

I had heard of Chef Jean from living in the area for the last 5 years, and had even considered doing one of his cooking classes with my husband, but now we surely will not be patronizing his business. My husband was walking with our 3-year-old son this morning on Sycamore after getting our son a haircut. Given that our son is 3 and naturally curious, something sparked his attention while walking past the parking lot for Chef Jean and the law offices next door, so he wandered into the parking area and my husband followed along (not suspecting this would be a problem, of course). As my husband realized that there was no exit from the back of the lot, he directed our son to turn around to head back out toward the sidewalk on Sycamore. Upon turning around, Chef Jean was standing there glaring at my husband and son. My husband immediately noticed him standing there and said, "Oh, he was just wandering" (referring to our son, of course). Chef Jean did not utter one word; he simply turned on his heels and went back inside. This animosity was not justified nor deserved. I understand the need for people to be cautious, however you'd think once Chef got outside and found out it was a harmless situation, he'd offer a polite, lighthearted comment in response to the situation. Nope, not the case at all. For the record, my family has owned a small business for 50+ years in a walking town similar to Newtown. They pride themselves on getting to know the townspeople that they see walking the town a lot. If Chef Jean is not interested in having that sort of relationship with the people of Newtown, please do us all a favor and take your smug attitude somewhere else. I will plan to cross-post this on any relevant social media site so others can think about this before considering taking a class with him. It's no wonder other reviewers that have actually taken a class with him have commented on his "temper" and non-polite attitude. Perhaps his food is delicious, but that can only get you so far in life. Get a better attitude and maybe your business will thrive. read more

Just left this "kitchen" and WOW! Chef and his wife were two of the most personable people, ever. Chef was funny, friendly and knowledgable. The class we did was hands on and everything we ate was delicious. I tried food I've never had before (veal stock, foie gras) and it was great. My favorite were the chocolate crepes, but the best part was after we cleaned up, Chef had a glass of wine with everyone. We will definitely be back again and again. read more

Have eaten at JP's school at least 7 times in the last 2 years. Always superb. The menu is always changing , emphasizing cuisine from throughout Europe. Jean Pierre is a world class chef and never disappoints. Almost everyone I have taken here returns often. Whether it's a cooking demo or a hands on class it's always interesting and the food is 5 star. A superb value that would cost twice as much in Philly or NYC. read more

A can't miss. The best food you will get anywhere. JP is a world-class chef & far surpasses George Perrier. The atmosphere is casual and the patrons are friendly. You will always get a great meal and meet new friends. This is an experience for all who love (not like) the best food you will ever come across. Easily worth a meal costing 3-4 times more elsewhere and not tasting as good. CJP is a treasure that most people will never get to experience. Their loss. Never a bad meal - only questions is how it can better but every time CJP performs a miracle and somehow does get better. Everyone I have ever brought there comes back again. BYOB makes it fun and wines are often swapped amongst strangers. read more
