Reviewed on May 7 In the vast wasteland of poor Chinese food in South Jersey, I found a hidden gem C C C R is located in a non-descriptive strip mall facing First Watch restaurant, which is one of the only FW in New Jersey... Wonton soup was very good, the broth was flavorful, and wontons had nicely seasoned filling... Pepper steak, and their shrimp roll were very tasty, and the service was very fast. I will definitely be back to visit C C C R... read more

Was "in the mood" for GOOD Chinese food. Tried the General Tso chicken & shrimp combo. OMG! Thin breaded and CRISPY. The sauce... heavenly. Had a spring roll and chicken noodle soup. STUFFFFED to the max. Want REALLY GOOD Tso? This is the place. Time to WADDLE home! read more

Chef Chun Chinese Restaurant - The truest of knights holding his meal - Chinese Near Me - Sewell, New Jersey

Awesome service and very good food. Would recommend! Typical eat in Chinese restaurant atmosphere.

I have been going to this restaurant for many years and it has recently, last two years, have changed hands. The food was fantastic for years and now it is mediocre at best. Sorry but this has changed from being all home made to i don't know what but it is not the same. Wrong food with takeout orders...wonton went from best ever to gluey glumpy dishwater soup. I only hope it somehow regains its quality of food. read more

I have been going to Chef Chun since I was 4 years old. I kid you not. This place has such a special place in my heart. The service is great-the staff is so friendly. The food is delicious. The chicken and shrimp spring rolls are unlike anything else I've ever had. No joke. Best local Chinese food in the Washington twp/Williamstown area read more

Chef Chun Chinese Restaurant - Vegetarian Delight - Chinese Near Me - Sewell, New Jersey

Good! I chose a food and I searched the food and they told me it was nothing like that so I got something else. Had lots of fun with family. It's nice and small and feels comforting. Been going there since I was a kid. read more

Food is excellent-always fresh and perfectly seasoned. Service very accommodating to special request.

I've been here twice in the last month. The reviews mentioning good hot and sour soup lured me in like a fish on a hook! It was tasty, but a lil bland and I like to taste a lil bit more of the sweet n sour in mine. I never had white sauce with my veggies but waitress recommended when asked. Very good, and I ate every bit of it. Second visit I had Veggie Pad Thai. It was good but not the best I ever had. Hubby had the Shrimp with honey walnuts. Super large portion and he loved it. The waitress was super pleasant, helpful, chatty and funny. Had her both times yet I forgot to ask her what her name was. All staff very nice and friendly. Decent dining area, nothing fancy tho. Clean restrooms. Constant flow of take out orders while eating in. read more

Our favorite local Chinese takeout restaurant. Food is always fresh with high quality ingredients. Favorites include the wonton soup, the steamed dietary specials and the shrimp and egg rolls. read more

I stopped going here 15 years ago because of an issue I had with my food. My neighbor convinced me I should try again. I wasn't impressed. I won't go back read more

The best. I love their staff. It's no longer "Hi", it's big hugs. Been that way for a long time. Serve the people with great food and hospitality and you get Chef Chun's. read more

This place came recommended but overall I don't recommend. I ordered take out. The generals chicken had good flavor but was not served with broccoli like I am used to and the fried rice was bland. Small portion too! My steamed dumplings were also smaller than my regular place and the sauce didn't wow me. The wonton soup was the best item which led to my 2 star review. read more

Chef Chun Chinese Restaurant - General Tso's General Tso's Chicken lunch combination - Chinese Near Me - Sewell, New Jersey

My favorite Chinese food place!!! I am a big fan of hot and sour soup: not too salty not too sticky, just perfect. Chinese pancake pizza is their specialty appetizer: crispy outside and soft inside. General chicken is also my favorite chicken style, I requested to add of Little spicy to it. All of them are really good. I am drooling again. You should come. FYI this place is really clean and the service is really nice. read more

Chef Chun Chinese Restaurant - Pancake pizza, beef pad Thai, general chicken, sweet sour pork and soup - Chinese Near Me - Sewell, New Jersey

server chased me out the door demanding i leave a tip even tho i wasn't satisfied with my food

Small quaint Chinese restaurant with great service and quick table service in house options. The menu is varied and the quality of the food is well surpassed most small Chinese places. The sauces and flavors are beyond the typical. The wait staff is very pleasant and chatty in a good way. Definitely worth it if you are looking for good Chinese food! Pepper steak, and king pao chicken are two of our favorites! read more

I don't recommend this place at all! The food is tasteless and lousy! The "Egg Rolls" were so horrible that I had to throw them away! They didn't look or taste anything like an egg roll! I have no idea what was inside of them but it was terrible!!! Even the "Cheese Wontons" and "Shrimp Rolls" were lousy! The pork inside of the "Fried Wontons" and "Wonton Soup" were so small and they had a weird color and taste to them! Just awful!!! The "Shrimp With Lobster Sauce" had very small shrimp and they were real soft and tasted lousy! The "General Tso Shrimp" and the "Honey Walnut Shrimp" meals were exactly the same meals with walnuts thrown on the top of one of them! Which is ridiculous, because these 2 meals should be totally different! The "Shrimp LoMein" and "Chicken LoMein" meals were only noodles and shrimp and noodles and chicken "NO VEGETABLES"!!! So they were both very bland with no flavor at all! The "Sweet & Sour Chicken" and the "Vegetable Spring Roll" were both good! I spent $150.00 for bland, tasteless, horrible, lousy food! I will never be going back here! I want to mention that the lady was very nice and the guy was great he carried my food out to my car for me! The young girl at the front desk was very miserable and you could tell she didn't want to be there! read more

Ordered take out on 2/21(Kung Pao Chicken Combo ) . Lots of peanuts , very little chicken . Literally had to move things around within dish to find chicken ...shouldn't have to search for main ingredient from my first fork !...had good flavor only wanted more chicken ! read more

While visiting family, my cousin said this is his favorite Chinese restaurant. We ordered the teriyaki chicken dinner, a spring roll, spare ribs and won ton soup. I enjoyed all of it, the spring roll had a nice crispy exterior, the won ton soup had a generous amount of won tons, the teriyaki chicken pieces were moist (not breaded and fried) in a delicious sauce. And the spare ribs were sticky and meaty with a yummy bbq sauce. The restaurant is no longer open for inside dining (they only have one waitress and she collects payment). We placed our order on the phone and when we went to pick it up, there was a line outside a few people deep. It speaks to how many people enjoy the food. read more

Have been dining-in and take out from Chef Chun's for years. Food is very good (great), one favorite is their Lemon Chicken w/ white or brown rice. Dining area is cozy, well lit and decorated. read more

Great food! So happy i found this place. No es from a different state and could not find a good Chinese food place, thank you Chef Chuns. Your sweet and sour chicken is awesome, Wonton soup to die for and a great grease-less egg roll!!! read more

Everyone local who reviewed the Chef seems to think it's 4 or 5-star material. Sorry I'm from a point a bit south and a bit to the east of the boot (actually not, but a little literary license if you please - diaspora ya know) We know from Chinese, know what I'm saying? Grandma gonna cook for hours or say hey let's go down to Chinatown? My grandma was all for Chinatown... We recently had a family gathering and got take out. Sesame chicken that was basically McNuggets with some sauce, some kind of big (thanks to the breading) fried shrimp in sweet disgusting sauce, Lo Mein, Singapore Chow Mei Fun, and some great egg and spring rolls. The lo Mein was a grease ball, the Chow Mei Fun was dry and almost tasteless, only the egg and spring rolls were not only good but very good. Run-of-the-mill Chinese food served by lovely people with great service if you eat in. read more

Always consistent take out and friendly employees. Have been a customer for about 15 years.

We came here for lunch because of the good reviews. My chicken chow mein had only tiny slivers of chicken in a conglomeration of vegetables. The accompanying pork fried rice was only slightly warm. My wife enjoyed her spare ribs but didn't care for the taste of her fried rice (besides the fact that it wasn't served hot). The won ton soup was very good. The atmosphere is pleasant with Asian music playing. Maybe other entrees of theirs are better since, like I said, the reviews on Yelp are good. But I don't think we'll be back. For us it was an overall let-down. read more

Chef Chuns is open inside! Go in and eat. Their takeout is fine but eating in seems to up every dish to a better level. Plus the waitress is very friendly and patient. The wonton soup, pan fried dumplings, Chinese pizza and egg roll were all delicious. Great broth and tender wontons. Very crispy pancakes. We enjoyed General Tsao, Sesame and Sweet and sour chicken. Great chicken fried rice and vegetable lo mein. Also a nicely flavored chicken and vegetables in brown sauce. Looks like they got new dishware. All white. We just had tea and water. No Thai dishes for us this time but they are good. The room temperature was comfortable and the noise level was good. read more

Great food. Fast service. Highly recommended for a quick meal. It's our go to Chinese restaurant.

The food is incredible every time. The service is impeccable, every time I call in for an order everything is correct. The wonton soup is so underrated but to die for especially when you're sick or in the cold winter months. read more

This place is amazing. It came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. The service was amazing and the food was so good.

Second time takeout and disappointing again. Which is very odd because we are regulars there normally dine in( don't live that close by ) and it's night and day as far as the quality we've received. Didn't feel like cooking for New Year's eve and was looking forward to having our fav Chinese food from Chef Chung. Even called to inquire if it was a different chef in the kitchen tonight, the lady who answered the phone said yes.... It's a mystery. We will only dine in here on out. read more

Chef Chun serves very good Cantonese Chinese food. Their shrimp wonton soup is my wife's favorite and I enjoy the hot and sour. My usual beef chow fun never disappoints as well as the shrimp or pork sweet and sour dishes. read more

Phenomenal food! It's like your traditional Chinese with a different spin. The wonton was much much better than the typical Chinese food place. Smaller, softer, better filling, and much better broth. The general tso was a bit spicier than other places but still very good. My only complaint would be over the lo mein, it lacked a lot of flavor and wasn't my favorite. Overall very good! New go-to place for us. read more

Well, unfortunately due to new ownership, Chef Chuns no longer has the magic it once had. My family and I ate here for the last time today. It just isn't the same anymore and you can taste it. They seem to be lost and some servers seem to be burnt out. It's quite annoying when you have an obnoxious, smart a55 server who should be a bit more appreciative of her customers. The chicken was dry and the food was bland. They were actually prepping wontons on one of the dining tables and nearest to the bathroom which is a BIG health code violation. The soda cans for drinks is tacky as well. Sorry Chef Chuns this was the last second chance we were willing to give. I imagine you'll be closed the next time we come back to town. Hopefully, you'll get back to what made you amazing in the beginning. read more

Very very good. Very fresh and hot The won ton soup and general tso chicken were the best I've ever had. The egg roll was right up there too. Service could have been a tad more attentive so that was just ok read more

Ordered from Chef Chuns for first time on 4/17/2021 via grubhub app. Placed the order at 5:19pm. App confirmed Chef Chuns started working on the order. Started tracking the order showing initial delivery time of 6:13. Delivery time kept getting pushed back until it was finally estimated at 7:10. At 6:48 I get a message from the grub hub delivery person who is at the restaurant that they don't have my order. At 7:03 Grubhub notifies me that my order has been canceled and I will be reimbursed. Don't know where the ball was dropped but won't be ordering Chef Chuns again. read more

The best Chinese food I've ever had. I began eating there 19 years ago and been going ever since. I live about 40 minutes away from the place, but it is worth the drive. The cold sesame noodles are unique and can't be found tasting like that anywhere else. Amazing food and every dish will not disappoint. read more
