After a day of riding every roller coaster at Busch Gardens, it was evident that Cheetah Hunt was one of the smoothest at the park. We had fast passes for the queue so we waited no longer than 5 minutes to get on, but the regular line didn't not max 15 minutes on a Sunday. We started the ride and I was sad that it didn't go faster, but I am also used to the velocicoaster at Universal that goes much faster. However, it was a longer ride that was smooth and thrilling. At every twist and turn you are surprised with something new! I do think with time the rollercoaster is being dated by its speed but it is still a great ride read more

Favorite ride of all time. Only goes upside down once so good for first time riders that want to try a roller coaster. Usually can get to be a long line so if you go and it's a short line, go twice. Once did it five times in a row on a Thursday afternoon without no wait. read more

I definitely enjoy this ride and I am very glad that I was able to experience this again on Tuesday as there was hardly any wait. On Sunday, I only got to ride this one time as the line can be as long as 90 minutes, but decided to do this one as we know this is one of the best rides of the park. The line moves fairly fast as they usually run 2 to 3 trains depending on the day. Definitely a re ridable ride as it is slow and a good family ride. Even though it is not as intense as other rides, I enjoyed it and loved the pacing. I wish they did change the restraints to more of the foam pads inside of the hard ones as my shoulders did hurt when going in the corkscrew. read more

This coaster is QUIET! It's referred to as a celebration to the fastest land animal, the Cheetah. It's a triple launch coaster and races riders through the park area through rocky gorges. It's the longest ride of the park. The ride is located near the sky ride and seems to be closed often when we visit. Today it was open! Hubs and I chill in the Oasis lounge that's located across from the ride while my daughter enjoys the ride. It used to be one of her favs when she was younger. read more

This is an awesome roller coaster. I love all of the acceleration tracks, especially the one right out of the gate. The coaster is supposed to emulate a cheetah chasing prey. It does an excellent job of that. There are sections there are more intense followed by some straight areas. The seats are a little small and would be challenging even for a trim tall person. They do have a trial seat outside of the entrance to the line. read more

Wine tipsy review time! Cheetah hunt was my first roller coaster ever in 2016. I mean ever. I lost like 100lbs to be able to ride a rollercoaster and I was stoked to be able to ride, but that all changed when I went on Cheetah. I was shook. It was over. Enter 2019 and several baby coasters later (thanks scorpion, my old friend!) Anyhow. A glass of wine, 50 Baby Shamu rides at Sea world and a few Scorpion warm up rides and my coaster balls were once again a force to be reckoned with. Awww yeah. I was ready. Okay this was like four days ago. I rode it twice on Sunday and I'm good to go. It's a top 3 favorite. 1) Baby Shamu at the SeaWorld Orlando kiddy park - do not judge me! 2). Old trusty Scorpion, 3). Cheetah. 4) Manta at SeaWorld, and that one is scary af to me, but I'm still a coaster newb. If you want an exhilarating ride, do cheetah hunt. It's AMAZING. More to come later this week. Fun ride, but we got there in line at 11:45, it said 95 minute wait....we are still in line at 2:00 pm and there is still a good 30-45 minute wait ahead of us more than likely. They have 2 sides to load and unload but they were only using one side the whole time. If they had used both sides, the wait time would have been cut down by so much....Maybe. It also would help if they had employees that didn't just walk super slow and take their time doing their job. I love Busch Gardens but today was a bust (our kids first time ever). Hopefully when we come back again it won't be so bad. read more

This launch coaster is packed with thrills. At the get-go, the coaster eases forward slightly then launches you 30 mph (feels faster!) out the station. It is the second launch that propels you up to 60 mph literally straight into the sky!! We did this at nighttime and WOW, what an experience! There are so many different ride elements on this coaster that make it unique. The next time I go, I definitely want to ride it during the day to take in the amazing views. The coaster is pretty smooth, although I was wearing earrings and my head was bouncing back and forth between the shoulder harnesses and when the ride stopped, my ears were a bit sore. This coaster is incredible. It's not quite as smooth as SheiKra but nowhere near as jostling as Kumba. Just like the Hulk at Universal, it starts with a launch (a boost) that jettisons you out of the loading bay at 30mph. There is then a second launch that shoots you up to the coaster's top speed of 60mph. A third launch toward the end boosts you back up to 40mph before the final brake run and end of the ride. The ride is thrilling and so much fun. I absolutely love it! You can really tell that the engineers researched how cheetahs actually move and hunt in the wild. If you haven't watched any cheetah documentaries, cheetahs are known for quickly switching directions and using their tails for balance, flicking them from side to side as they move. You can literally feel this sensation during the ride, and it's wonderfully immersive. If you love roller coasters, don't pass this one up. It's unique from all the other offerings at Busch Gardens. read more

A world-class roller coaster that is also really accessible to folks who aren't into the more extreme rides. A long wait, but it was worth it. My kid and I loved it so much that we ponied up for the Fast Lane/line skip for a second ride, and then used all the time we saved to wait for a front row seat. It was amazing, and totally worth the money. One complaint: on a really hot day, the ventilation fans in the queue area are just not up to the task. Hydrate and hit the bathroom before you get in oline. read more

This may be the most fun coaster in the world! Moderate thrills. But the 3 launches are fantastic. The 2nd one makes you think you're going to fly of the track! I cannot believe that I haven't reviewed my favorite coaster at Busch Gardens yet. I have a paralyzing fear of heights but Cheetah Hunt doesn't trigger me at all. This is a launch coaster so there's no agonizing slow climb up a lift hill where you go higher and higher. You just go flying around a nearby corner as you are launched. What's really fun is that there is a second launch that gets you going 60 mph as you are propelled up into a really unique looking part of the track that wraps around itself. This is the part you see in the Busch Gardens logo! After this part there's one last launch and some fun sections where you can get some airtime. On some of the other coasters such as Montu your view isn't so great if you're not in the front, but I think sitting in any part of Cheetah Hunt is fine. Another nice feature is that instead of the huge horse collars you have to wear for other coasters the overhead restrains are smaller and more comfortable because there's only one inversion on the track. I love this coaster! read more

This is it folks. This ride right here is the one. Cheetah Hunt is hands down the best ride at Busch Gardens Tampa. Just walking into the waiting area for this ride is pretty neat. It's a like you're inside a giant temple, and the huge stone cheetah in the center really adds to the epic scale of things. Lines were not that bad, though to be fair I don't think mid December is peak theme park season, even in Florida. Each train can hold sixteen thrill seekers per run, lined up two by two. Over the shoulder restraints keep you nice and snug, but the seats are still comfortable. Any seat is a good one on this ride but if you have the time do yourself a favor and ride front row at least once. Maybe it's childish, but being up with the custom designed cheetah head on the front of the train makes the ride seem just that much more fun. Once your locked in it's time for an incredible roller coaster experience. Less than ten seconds into pulling away from the station the first set of electromagnetic launch motors shoots you into a sweeping left turn at 30mph and into a dip. The curve straightens out and just as you think you might slow down you hit the second launch, the largest and fastest of the ride. You rocket onward and upward 100ft into the air at 60mph and once you crest the hill you ease into a figure eight with a wonderful view of the park. The curve completes and you drop back down into a trench that leads into another hill. You soar over the top of the Skyride gondolas and some of the larger animal enclosures and twist into the ride's only barrel roll inversion. Up and down over a few bunny hops until you sweep right. This curve leans into alternating dips up and to either side. Right, left, right, left. It's like going through a slalom ski course but much faster. Two more long arcs over the grasslands and one last 40mph launch up a small hill before you finally slow and approach the station. I know that's a wordy description but there's just so much to this coaster. The ride time is over a minute and a half, which is fairly lengthy for a coaster like this, and I loved every second of it. It's smooth but still exciting, and fast but not scary. I was smiling constantly through every moment. I can't say enough positive things about this ride. Every bit of it is so much fun and it makes you want to ride over and over again. The lines had died down by the time our visit was coming to a close and I ended up riding Cheetah Hunt six times in that one day. Yes, it really is that good. Every ride at Busch Gardens is fun, and a handful of them are excellent, but Cheetah Hunt is the crown jewel that sits above the rest. If you ever find yourself at this park you absolutely must give it a try. read more

Our favorite Busch Gardens coaster! Smooth, fast and exhilarating! My absolute favorite part of the ride experience is when the track snakes back and forth as if you are a cheetah bobbing and weaving on the hunt! Cheetah Hunt delivers all the thrills without any of the headaches! It is truly a fantastic coaster and has similar elements from Cedar Points amazing Maverick coaster (one of my all-time favorites). But what makes this ride even more awesome is the 48" height requirement. There are very few rides that have this sort of speed and thrill that younger children can ride. It makes it very easy for a mom or dad to take their younger children on the same ride experience with the older kids! THAT is awesome! Could this be my new favorite roller coaster at Busch Gardens? It might be. I mean I have some long standing favorites (spoiler alert: Gwazi is not one of them!) but this new coaster is smooth, fast and pretty awesome. So I quickly learned that 60 miles per hour is pretty freakin' fast. Apparently it feels especially fast if you are doing front row! Yep, me and 2 of my buddies (and one random dude) all rode front row - you know, YOLO. We got launched off the platform (awesome!) and whizzed through the track for what felt like forever. I read that the ride lasts 3 and a half minutes. I promise it feels extremely long....and every second is worth it. The ride climbs to about 130 feet (then drops you down) and there's one inversion. This is a great addition to Busch Gardens and if you haven't been in a few years they have a couple cool rides that you might want to come check out - this being one of them. While I didn't see it, I read there is also a cheetah exhibit near the ride to tie in with the theme of it. You get to watch as the cheetahs sprint after toys, showcasing their insane speed. read more

One of my very favorite roller coasters across the country, Cheetah Hunt simulates the explosive speed of a cheetah on the run hunting for a meal. The ride starts with you strapping yourself into high-tech seat with a pull-down shoulder restraint that locks you in place into your seat. After a quick thumbs up from the ride attendants you burst ahead with a blast of speed and then start the looping and twisting motions as the cheetah dodges and weaves around the park. You soar up to look out over the entire park, and then suddenly blast down as if the animal is chasing it's prey. Along the way coaster aficionados will get plenty of air time as you crest the heights and then chase after your stomach as the track drops away for a steep dive. Be sure to stop and watch the Park's cheetahs at the exhibit near the entrance to this ride, and pay attention to how they seem to zoom back and forth as they run. Cheetah Hunt is the best coaster that I will ride in Busch gardens. That's cause I'm a wimp and won't go on the others like Sheikra. It's a smooth coaster with a good boost at 30 mph at the start, and top speed of 60. It has a 130' drop, and nice corkscrew turns. After the initial climb, it stays close to the ground, making you feel like a cheetah on the hunt. As we were at the park when they opened, we had no lines to ride! It tends to get real busy later in the day, so get there first and you will have no problems getting a few rides in before the lines get annoying. read more

Cheetah hunt is conveniently located near the main entrance of Busch Gardens, and is my favorite "warmup" ride -even though it always feels faster than I had remembered. Inspired by the way the Cheetah runs in explosive bursts, this coaster includes three launch sequences. The ride thrusts you out of the station at 30mph and travels quickly through the neighboring Cheetah habitat. There aren't any loops but there is a heart line twist that is quite thrilling. There are calmer moments when you can actually observe the esthetic landscapes and wildlife. The photo snaps while you're twisting and turning through the dark rock caves. A newer addition to the coaster family at Busch Gardens, Cheetah shares a station with the Sky Ride and tends to have long wait times. Take advantage of any wait time under 30 minutes. read more

Awesome. This coaster is truly one of a kind as I've never been on anything like it. The only problem is they hold back pretty hardcore because its designed as a starter coaster, meaning its mainly for early aged teenies. It's got three launches, and all of them are awesome. It's also got some really cool elements that I've actually never seen on a coaster before simply by the nature of the ride being designed to simulate a cheetah running through the Forrest and stalking its prey. The only problem that I have with the ride is that it's about 13 mph too slow. Notch this bad boy up 13mph, and it would easily go from 4 out of 5 to a very easy 5 out of 5 stars I give cheetah run a swift 4 out of 5 stars read more

This is Busch Gardens newest roller coaster scheduled to be open in Spring 2011. The hunt will begin with a launch--a first for Busch Gardens--propelling guests from 0 to 60 mph. The ride will sprint down over 4,000 feet of track across a Serengeti plain and through a canyon. It will open with a sister attraction called Cheetah Run, which will feature close-up encounters with Earth's fastest animal. Busch Gardens says that Cheetah Hunt will have the largest footprint of any attraction yet built at their park. Even though it is tough not to get excited about another roller coaster in the Central Florida market with the design style of Disney's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Universal's the Mummy, not everyone is excited about the name. In fact, many fans believe that the name suggests that guests are hunting the cheetahs, which obviously goes against the park's conservation efforts. Best roller coaster at Busch Gardens! There was a time when Gwazi was my number one coaster, but Cheetah Hunt stole my heart. Had a chance to ride this recently thanks to a Yelp Event in Tampa. So this coaster, it's fast, it's slow, it's like a cat ready to pounce. If you are afraid of coasters, just try this one and you will be pleasantly surprised at how thrilling it is, but not terrifying or scary. This is pure fun. Also, this is a long ride, so it's nice to stay on the ride for a while and enjoy yourself. The ride is so smooth, there is barely any bumping along, it feels like you are gliding. The line is a bit long, but so worth the wait. read more

I had a really high expectation before getting on the cheetah hunt. I saw signs saying that you'll feel a force of up to 4G, which is more than what astronauts feel during launch into outer space (3G) so I wanted to feel that. However, when I finally got on the ride and it launched. It went super fast, but I didn't really feel that "force". Even the "Mission Space" ride at Epcot made me feel the pressure more. Yeah, it's a longer ride, but it's just ok for me. I'm glad I didn't wait too long for this ride because I used the quick queue ticket. I personally thought that Sheikra was A LOT more fun! read more

I really enjoy this ride because it offers slightly more comfort than some of the older roller coasters. BuschGardens has a wooden roller coaster that just makes you so nauseated by the time you're done and then you get on this roller coaster and it's like night and day difference. The technology that went behind this roller coaster to make it launch and accelerate you like it does is very cool. There are two different types of motors that can be used for the launch process one is a linear induction and the second is linear synchronous motor. Now the motors can be powered either pneumatically or hydraulically I believe this ride is actually pneumatic just from listening to the pressure release when you're launching. I have ridden this ride enough to notice that if you sit in the front it seems to go a lot faster to sit in the back it doesn't seem to go as fast but the big humps you go over deliver a lot of airtime. The only complaint I have is there aren't enough inversions I mean loops upside down the cool stuff! Besides that it's a good ride and something you would jump back in line to ride again. read more

TLDR: Although the wait times can be long, they are well worth it for the best roller coaster at Busch Gardens. With the gradual addition and removal of rides at Busch Gardens over the years, I think Busch Gardens has a real gem in Cheetah Hunt. As noted by the name, this is a more unique type of roller coaster that starts off with an almost instantaneous launch instead of your traditional big drop. There's a variety of twists and turns throughout the ride and it makes for a great experience in a roller coaster that makes you want to ride again as soon as it's over. With the lines sometimes getting a bit outrageous here, I would highly recommend getting the fast lane pass for this ride. From my understanding, if you don't use the pass for the other rides listed, you can use the pass again for a second on Cheetah Hunt. It's a really great way to save 30-60 minutes and experience the roller coaster more than once. If you don't mind waiting a bit more, there is a separate line for the first row. I didn't get a chance to ride in the first row, but you do have a great experience either way on any part of the ride. read more

My favorite roller coaster ever. This is the most popular ride in Busch Gardens. The line frequently exceeds an hour! But its for good reason. The ride starts out with a pretty fast and powerful launch, quickly followed by a faster one. You rise to the top of a tower. You have a few seconds to admire the view before you plunge into a pit! The rest of the ride soars over the Serengeti Plain. If you aren't screaming, you can admire the view of the park. I love the part where you zig zag over a river, dodging rocks and waterfalls. That's followed by a THIRD launch, pushing you over an awesome airtime hill before bringing you back to home. This ride is just amazing. Be sure to either ride it super early or super late if you don't want to wait in line. Awesome at night :) read more

The first time I rode Cheetah Hunt I learned what is means to die of anticipation. Waiting for 2 hours killed me. So much so that I hardly enjoyed the ride. After coming back several times and experiencing shorter lines I began to change my mind. As the ride begins you are slowly pushed towards the beginning of the track. The second car has to wait for a while before being launched, the first car is nonstop from the get go. Sometimes I forget what's about to happen. It's always a shock when they launch you. After launching you swoop around a curve and then downward. This part of the track accelerates you to 60 mph and up a steep ascent. This is by far the best part of the ride. You then twirl around a bit unnecessarily and go down a pretty sweet drop. The ride is very smooth. It includes some 'heart line' rolls, which adds to the smoothness. There are three total acceleration magnets. All of them are awesome. Overall, it's a fairly innovative coaster. It's not like any other that I've been on. The line is frickin' ridiculous though most of the time, seriously. read more
