Uh oh. Photography glitch. (The fault of the photographer -- me! -- not the phone.) Anyway, here's my side salad. So .... in keeping with my assessment of these waterside restaurants, one is not all that different from another. We ended up at Cheeks because a competitor, steps away, blasted music making it difficult to carry on conversation. Definitely not four stars, but in all fairness a bit more than three. Locally-caught fish tastes better than what's flown in, which is probably why all these places serve some form of grouper. Too bad I can't show you my grilled grouper sandwich: it looks big, a bit hard to eat. But that's because lettuce camouflaged a paltry amount of fish. (Unfortunate since the fish was tasty.) Rather than fries -- a typical side in all these places -- I upgraded to a surprisingly delicious house salad. My friend, who ordered a cheesesteak sandwich (which she deemed three stars) gave props to the accompanying sweet potato fries. Drinks: they were out of most beer (surprising in a place like this.) I was impressed that a glass of house cab was only $4. Y'know that saying, 'you get what you pay for?' What I got was a huge headache. read more

I have been to Cheeks a few times,the 1st time was back in October, I was new to the area. It was good service and decent food. The second time a few weeks ago. Stood at the hostess station and no one approached so we left and went next door. Yesterday we tried it again but to much disappointment we stood there waiting to be seated. Another couple came and waited. 3 employees walked by and never addressed us. No eye contact it's like we were invisible Again we went next door and got great service and food. Two star restaurant, one for the nice view and one for the friendly service, zero for the food. Very disappointed with our food, we got the big ass platter and every food on it tasted the same, all just tasted like fried batter. No flavor at all in anything. The onion rings were still dripping in grease, the shrimp breading slid off when you tried to eat it from the sheer amount of oil on it, and the sauces were all just bottled and generic. It was a $22 appetizer served with paper plates and plastic silverware. The real clincher though was the bagged potato chips smack in the middle of the platter. Cheeks Tiki Bar at Sunset Harbor 3-12-25 Been wanting to stop by this place for a while. You must walk to the left of the building down a walkway and the entrance is on your right. Got there about 11:15am on a Wednesday right after they opened. Place was not packed but was clean and neat. We sat outside at the Patio or the Tiki which ever you prefer. Waitress came over right away and took our drink order. We had a couple questions about the drinks and food which she answered fast, she was friendly and knew all about the menu. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich Blackened which came with Lettice, Tomato, Onion, and Pickles. My wife ordered the same thing Grilled Not Blackened. We both picked Fries as our side. I usually order a little Mayo on the side to add to my Sandwich just to see if they remember to give it to me. Our Sandwiches came out fast. This Sandwich was huge with packed with all the extras. It was very good, and the Lettice, Tomatoes and Onions tasted fresh. The Blackened Seasoning was spot on, and our Fries were amazing. These Fries were the best I've had in this area. Guess what they did not forget the Mayo. All our food was hot and so tasty. Even the Beer was cold. Out waitress was very good and checked on us many times. Special shout out to TJ one of the waiters I really like his vibe and he was there to help, and he did liven up the place. Sitting outside the view of the docks, water and boats made our day. You can't go wrong by stopping in and enjoying what the have to offer. Next time we want to go there when they have music playing on the inside stage. We had their daily special of a bucket of beer and shrimp for $25! Best deal in Southwest Florida! We had our shrimp blackened and they were delicious! The have live music Thursday through Saturday. Friendly YES! Was the food Hot, YES! First timers - The family and I enjoyed that we could choose our own table, which was outside next to the water. We now know which tables we should have chosen to get the best breeze to keep us cool - HINT: The side tables that are located on the same side as the entrance. This restaurant was a recommendation from a friend and no matter the feedback, I am glad we (the four of us) we stopped by to try. With only a few patrons at the bar and only four occupied tables the time it took to order and longer time to receive our dinner choices was disheartening to say the least. As mentioned above, the staff were all friendly and the food was hot yet were they missed the mark was we felt abandoned and the food was unfortunately bland. We visited Cheeks at Sunset Harbor for the first time. I have heard a lot of glowing reviews about their specials. We actually went to see one of our favorite bands, Mayhem SWFL play there. That is what brought us in. In appearance it is your typical dive bar. Inside seating and outside seating, right on the water. Their menu is what you would expect. We went with the bucket of 5 beers and 20 fried shrimp. We also ordered Garlic Parmesan wings and Garlic Fries. First of all, the shrimp was fabulous! They were huge and succulent. You have to try them. They are worth the visit alone! The wings were really delicious too. The only negative were the garlic fries. They were very soggy with whatever garlic sauce they used. Definitely a pass, next time. The music was fantastic!!! It was a fun setting to see a band we enjoy. I hope they have Mayhem SWFL back again. Our visit to Cheeks at Sunset won't be our last. I was craving wings and beer. Place was empty. Sat at the bar and the bartenders were very chatty with each other but not very attentive. Beer was kind of flat but ok. Had an empty glass twice that I needed to ask for a refill. Ordered wings, they came out very fast. Must have been pre cooked and they tasted that way. I didn't eat them all. Got the bill, .25 charge for the buffalo sauce for buffalo wings, .25 for tossing them in that sauce and .25 for blue cheese (that was really good and not a problem) Charging to 'toss' not good wings is ridiculous read more

We spent Sunday afternoon/early evening at Cheeks. We are "out of towners" but we were welcomed in such a warm and sincere way. We had great waiters and waitresses for our visit. Lauren was especially accommodating and was always so ready and willing to help us. It is the waitstaff that will bring us back!!! We are already planning on another visit very soon. We had a delicious chicken wrap...listened to an awesome musician...right on the water...the best of everything. We will be back soon. read more

Stopped by after work for some apps and happy hour. You can sit anywhere which is super nice. We chose an outdoor table. And 15 mins later still no service. Then three servers at the same time came by asking if we needed anything. We got some drinks and food ordered. The margaritas were very delicious. We tried the shrimp special for Mondays. For the grilled and blacked shrimp. Awesome! Sitting by the water with a margarita on a Monday is perfection. Hopefully the service improves. We heard about the all you can eat lobster and decided to try it. Nowhere on the menu or on the special menu did it say that the lobster was deep-fried. I typically don't eat fried food. The lobster was incredibly greasy, I don't think it was drained after it was fried. The breading was thick, probably to help fill you up. It was served in a basket with a piece of paper below it. It was difficult to cut in the basket, so we had to ask for a plate, but it was hard to find the server. The server did not check back with us and in fact we had to go looking for her at one point.
