This place has been around a long time. Female chef was kicking ass, getting orders out fast. The feel was chill even with the political signs. The clam chowder was creamy and flavorful, it had nice bites of clam. The fried oysters are what they're known for and they're gorgeous, plump and juicy-nothing dried out here. The burger was delicious too, nice salty crust with crisp fries. This is a fantastic dive, the food is fresh and fast. read more

Beer was cold and bartender was welcoming. A simple neighborhood bar. Just what we like!

It's a hole in the wall type of place. The food is fantastic, my husband loves the grouper reuben.

Excellent food and service! Can't ask for anything better than that. Daily specials and you are treated like family!

First time here. Beyond dive bar & they know it. If you're not a regular here you'll be stared down. Beer selection next to nothing, food meh, bartender very friendly. You know the saying, we tried it once. read more

Amazing food, really long wait. Perhaps the issue was all the carry out orders that made their way out the door between the time we ordered and were served; but it seemed like NBC given the place was less than half full when we arrived. About the food: the tartar sauce was lovely and I'm assuming made in-house because how else would it wind up with a touch of dill? The oysters were the largest we've ever seen and had a wonderfully unique flavor. The server rattled off several different local types that they frequently serve, based on availability and their names were like poetry. The potatoes are sautéed with onion and garlic and are delicious. Tots are fried perfectly :) We saw a philly steak go by, and if seafood were not available it would have been a satisfying choice. read more

Our family has been coming here for decades! The food is absolutely amazing, the staff are friendly and accommodating. They have indoor and outdoor seating and TVs. Dog friendly too! read more

Half Shell Lounge - Half Shells embedded in black sand and gold glitter on the bar top. - Dive Bars Near Me - Fort Myers, Florida

Still a place to relax, have a cold beer and some pub grub. Working mans bar but friendly service and customers

Great service! Delicious food. We had the seafood platter, and fried mushrooms. Beer was cold, and everyone was super friendly.

Always freshly prepared and quick. Laurie will see you're satisfied. Pam knows her business! Good food. Cold beer.

Two and a half decades of history here, primarily consisting of beef jerky, cheese steaks, the same faces and, in later years, ridiculously cheap beer. It's a scene frozen in time: Jimmy on the grill, Christmas stockings stapled with dollar bills and a jukebox that ages with technology while the songs played never change. The Half Shell embodies Americana with freedom fries on the menu, offensive T-shirts on the wall, and a comfortable seat as a top account for Anheuser-Busch - nationwide. Yes, nationwide. So steady are the sales of Bud and its bastard kids that prior to the InBev acquisition, August Busch IV and his cronies would arrive once a year and kick back a few of his great-granddaddy's brews at the Shell, leaving them with one-of-a-kind wall schwag and a photo opp or two. Sure the chowder is served in a coffee mug that may not have been devoid of java when filled. Maybe your fifty cent Amber Bock gets picked up a bit early and a quarter full. Perhaps August Busch's model girlfriend was found dead of undisclosed causes at his upscale suburban St. Louis home a few days ago. Too soon? Too soon. Shortcomings aside, Half Shell is a destination every time I'm home. Especially if I want a thousand beers with only $12.95 en mis pantalones. Economy, man. Economy. read more

This place is great. Great prices and great food. Grilled cheese with bacon simple and good. To the best chicken Philly in this town. Friendly people that visit to the people that work there. I've e been going here for at least 20 years. It's a must. read more

Ok, so I been going to the Halfshell since 1990 and have to say nothing but great things about them. Food is decent, prices are decent-they are close to the community college (which is when I found that in the afternoon between evening and night classes, they always had a spare table to let me study). Mix of blue collar, hard working people and those whitecollar folks who aren't too uppity to recognize a diamond in the rough! Oysters on the halfshell!! Hella good and the price can't be beat! Safe enough to bring my 80 year old mom for a fried fish sandwich; occasionally I see some golfers come in to drink a beer, which by the way is as cold as ice. My hats off to the owners, staff and regular bar patrons who have always been kind to me when I stopped by for a beer. read more

Dive Bar with great food and quirky clientele. How do you beat that?

This is a working persons restaurant/bar. A great place for a beer and a sandwich or something else off their menu. It's all good. Large portions and variety. The service is fast and friendly. A look around will reveal this place supports Detroit area sports and NASCAR. If you're looking for a good lunch quickly and a cold one, this is the place. read more

I cant give a zero star or i would. Unfriendly bar tender. Beer was not cold. Closes at 9. Very trashy.

Great grouper fingers- Love the casual atmosphere!

Definitely not a tourist destination, although you'd be hard-pressed to find a more Americana ambience. We've been here for dinner but we consider ourselves part of the loyal lunch regulars. The menu is basic pub grub with a seafood accent, but the quality is great. Making decisions about what to order can be problematic, however, because the burgers are outstanding, but the specials are always good, too. I'm also a big fan of its taco salad. The fried clams can be overdone, but that's the only issue I've ever had after dozens of meals here. Patrons and staff are always friendly. read more

Great casual joint. Good food, good prices. Fresh fried full bellied clams, cajun fish rueben, philly cheese steak, burgers all excellent. Cold beer. read more

Definitely fits the description of being a local dive bar. The ambience is old and worn, but friendly none-the-less. The food is made fresh and from scratch! Great prices and generous portions. You walk into the place and you come upon a bar that occupies nearly half the square footage, so it doesn't give the vibe right away that this is an eatery. Don't be put off by it. The food is great! Also, the music took me back to my youth where good ol' country western classics were played. Got me feeling a bit nostalgic for my cowboy daddy! read more
