The University of Cincinnati Stroke Team was in town February for the 2025 International Stroke Conference. We usually have a team dinner at these conferences. We asked people in the area and did some research and Checkos Catering was suggested across the board. And we are very glad we went with them - it was a fantastic experience - from start to finish! Prices were very fair, esp. compared to the quality and quantity of the food prepared. Portions were great. The communications about details and agreeents were also great (his wife Cyndy is very easy to work with and accomodating). Her patience was also appreciated as I tried to fugure out our plan (it was a moving target on our end). And they bent over backwards to stay within our budget without compromising the food or experience. You can tell Checkos is very passionate about what he does - and every event is personal to them. This is a smaller family run catering company doing what they love to do, and it shows. This isnt like some larger caterers where you get whatever staff is on duty that day. Checkos himself is very professional, hard working and engaging. I wish I had photos of the food and spread but I dont. But it was perfect. We had the pasta bar (yum) and several small bites. Our guests loved the personal choices they could make and having the pasta cooked fresh in front of them. During our meeting my team voted Checkos himself MVP of the event. Cindy is so unprofessional and rude. We were being charged an extra 300 dollars to reschedule their catering for our baby shower even though we notified 2 months in advance. The reason we had to reschedule was because I was being put on military status and was leaving the state for training. She refused to cooperate with us. When we refused to pay that money she became defensive and we were getting no where. We wanted to get that fee waved or at least negotiate it down but she was unwilling. Because the conversation was so unpleasant I explained to her that at this point I don't even feel comfortable doing business with her regardless of the fee being waived. She repeated saying she didn't want to do business with me either. I explained to her that I had already gave a $510 deposit and since she was unable to work with us I would want it back. The conversation continued with her saying she wasn't going to give it back for a couple minutes until I explained to her if that's the case we would be forced to take legal action. At that point she got really on the defensive and it was just all around a bad experience. She ended up stating that she will return our money right before she rudely hung up on us. I had tried their food from a friends party and I will admit the food was good. However customer service is everything to us and I did not appreciate how she handled the situation. I will not recommend this catering to anyone because of how she decides to treat her customers. I will attach email transcripts of after our conversation. read more
