The manager at the Checkers we went to is the greatest, West Hillsborough Ave, Tampa. We are staying with a relative and my daughter ordered online. She thought she had ordered from the one that was a three minute drive from us. We went there to pick up the food and they said they had no ticket for our order. Here she had ordered from one that was at least 20 minutes away and we didn't have a car, we had walked to the close one. The manger helped us out and showed us how to go on and cancel our order to get a refund and then he treated us to some free food. He was so helpful, friendly and understanding. I'm all for trying out new places, but I won't be going back to a Checkers. The fries had an interesting pepper seasoning, but that isn't enough to bring me back. They were cooked so long that the potato that was supposed to be in the middle, was gone. Only breading left. GROSS! I think it's reasonable to expect a moderate stomach ache after eating at this establishment, but for the most part the food is your typical fast food burger joint food. I already called their head office about this particular visit. My husband and I came through drive though or attempt to anyway there were people just eating hamburgers blocking the way. They finally move "our bad" I guess. We order our food and are told to park and they will bring it to us. We watched a man pick up his food from the window then promptly bring it back angry. Everything seemed chaotic seemed like wrong orders to wrong people. It was quite the poop show spectacular. If you're from Florida, you know what Checkers taste like. The greasy burger joint with creative menu items makes you want to come on back to try them all. I personally love checkers and it's a guilty please of mine. This Checkers was the home for them all for me. A few years ago, I was a employee of the Golden Corral and with this being right down the road, I would stop in route of my bike ride home. This location was opened until 5 AM and so I could catch a dinner or ice cream after a long brutal night at the corral. They always custom made all of my sandwiches and even chatted me up as I was more of a customer. I always felt welcomed here and the other customers would stay and enjoy their time as well. i always will love this Checkers and it actually made great memories of the late night laughs, During the day the place can be very hectic but at late night, it's a great spot to enjoy your late dinner or 4th meal. PS: This place doesn't not have an indoor sit down. They have a walk up with some funky tables with tilted metal umbrellas. Double drive thru though if wondering. read more

This location sucks ass!!!!!!!! I drove up and saw 2 lines, one empty and one with a customer. I got in the empty line and after 4 minutes a guy comes on the intercom to say "this line closed", ooookay, so I back up and get in the other line, now with 3 cars. I waited 11 minutes for my turn and when I got to the menu board the same asscycle said " order and come to the window". He didn't say welcome to Checkers, may I help you, he said " order and come to the window"! My wife was ill so I said what the hell and ordered. I said " may a have a CARIBBEAN COLADA and" , " does that complete your order?", " No please, may I also have a PEACH MANGO and", " does that complete your order?", " No, may I also have a STRAWBERRY smoothie", "pay at the window" WTF!!!, Dude I'm not asking for a reach around! All I want is what you're there to do, good customer service and hand me my order. So I get to the window and the chick at the window looks at me and starts messing with the register. There was no greeting, no mention of a wait. Then I look through the window to the other side and the ratt bastard was handing out an order, are you kidding me?!!! i am very disappointed and unhappy with my recent checkers experience to say the least !! i went to checker's located at 7545 w. hillsborough @ 10:50 p.m. sat., nov. 11th, 2017. i've encounterd bad customer service but never as awful as last night. the employee was rude & disrespectful from the very start. i was made to wait several times when i attempted to place order. the person taking the order when asked about the chicken bites , due to overhearing him tell the previous customer they were out i inquired to verify as it was an item i wanted to order he said "what ?1" which was a response more than once; made me wait another 3-4 minutes, said "no not at this time" then went on to place my order which consisted of a big bufordsn combo and a 4 for $3.00 that i hadto repeat 3 times, mind you i am fluent in english and this person just seemed to be bothered and irritated! my order which had 2 drinks, one of which was supposed to be "no ice", he handed me one drink, i had to ask for the other which had ice. i told him one was supposed to be no ice. he took it back no apology, remade drink then proceeded to complain to another employee with rude/unnecessary comments: "can you believe that i made this drink with no ice and didn't even make a difference but a sip!" making digs at me for not wanting ice and rudely discussing if you had a problem then you say that when i leave, but what can you expect for someone so rude and disrespectful?! as previously mentioned i ordered a big buford combo, which i had a coupon for $3.99 and a 4 for $3.00. my coupon was not discounted/used, i was charged $10.70 and received $9.30 change from $20.00 which was incorrect, my total should have been $7.48, yes i was jipped out of $3.22 and...not given a receipt which was intentional as far as i'm concerened because he knew he was providing awful service and did not want to give me the opportunity to check receipt or be able to contact regarding this awful experience!!!!!!!!! and to end all the food was awful. our fries were cold and my bread kept falling apart indicating a "stale bun!" this was a horrible disappointing experience. read more
