We were referred to Chears for my toddler. I was nervous because she didn't pass the exam with the pediatrician. I think she didn't understand the directions. Chears was amazing! They know how to work with children. The front desk personnel were very patient and helpful. My daughter passed the exam and the doctor explained everything to me in detail with pictures. The office we were in was a decent size. There was a sound proof room that my daughter went in during the testing but you can see everything. It was a great experience! Getting there was super easy. The parking lot has plenty of parking. Chears shares a building with other businesses but are located right up the stairs. You can also access via the elevator. read more

I am so appreciative of the care, friendliness and professionalism of the front office staff, in particular Ashley. She always greets me with a smile when I arrive for my appts and when I call the office with a question if she doesn't know the answer she is great with follow-up and calling me back with the info I need. I have seen Dr. Robert Faillace twice and he is professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I can tell he really cares about his patients well-being in regards to their hearing and helping to improve their quality of life. Yesterday was my second appt and I was fitted with what will be my first hearing aid as I only needed one for the nerve damage in one of my ears. Upon having it placed in my ear Dr. Faillace ran some tests on his computer and then did a sound check and asked if I could hear him okay. I wept happy tears! I couldn't believe how well I could hear, in fact I had no idea just how long my hearing had been so diminished! Then the next thougbt I had was how much I've missed over the years with my hearing loss Dr. Faillace took notice and asked if I was okay and then asked me how long has it been since I've been able to hear this well and I told him I couldn't even remember, that my last hearing test was 40 years ago when I was in the military and though I passed my hearing had to have been on the decline for some years but I just didn't notice because it was so gradual. Then, Dr. Faillace explained wearing the hearing aid would take some getting used to at first in terms of how I hear things but it would get better. The hearing aid itself was very small and comfortable to wear and Dr. Faillace even matched the color to my golden hair. No batteries and has it's own small charging port I can put on my nightstand at night when sleeping that can also travel nicely if needed. My life changed for the better the moment that hearing aid was placed in my ear and I could hear everything so clearly. My hearing aid is being ordered by one of the office staff and I cannot wait to receive it. If you are putting off getting your hearing checked or think you may be a candidate for a hearing aid give the people at chEARS the opportunity to assist you, you won't regret it. read more

Five stars for the team at ChEARS on Camino Del Reo in SanDiego! After a couple hr search on line, costco and on the phone for a replacement hearing aids charger, ChEARS elected to sell me their only one. I learned most audio service centers cannot sell chargers given they are match sets with hearning aids. My charger, forgotten at home almost made our San Diego vacation experience mute. The good doctor and his assistant found the right model, ensured it had proper fit, got my aids charging and sent me on my way! Its a great day when you can hear birds cherping in the sun. I took my 90 year old mom here to have her hearing re-evaluated. She had stopped interacting with people both in person and on the phone and stopped watching television. Over the past 20 years she has had various hearing aids and evaluations but nothing like the service that was offered at ChEARS. From the start, the front office staff was very helpful and friendly. We met with Dr. Nick Faillace who was very kind and considerate of my mom's hearing condition. We found out that she had hearing aids that were suitable for someone with mild hearing loss. Although they could not get her hearing back to 100%, they were able to find the right hearing aids in order for her to enjoy life. Our experience at ChEARS has been a lifesaver for my mom. She now is able to interact with people both in person and on the phone (even makes her own doctor appointments) and enjoy television again! I owe Dr. Kearney a HUGE thank you for saving my daughters hearing. My daughter experienced a sudden one sided hearing loss 8 days prior to her initial appointment. I decided to seek an ENT consult due to my growing concern for the lack of hearing improvements after two physicians evaluations and treatment recommendations. My daughters official appointment with her ENT physician wasn't until next week. However, it was recommended I get an audiology assessment beforehand. I happened to come across Chears audiology clinic on the internet that morning. I was shocked when I was told they could see her that afternoon. I guess I didn't realize how time sensitive sudden hearing loss could be. Dr. Kearney knew that in order to save any of her hearing treatment should start immediately. She was so concerned after the audiology assessment that she had called a nearby ENT clinic to make sure we were seen that evening. My teenage daughter was diagnosed with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL). She was started on a different array of medications that day to jump start her hearing. She is now on a effective treatment and positive recovery to gaining her hearing back. Dr. Kearney's complete dedication to all her patients is astounding. She is very professional. She listens to our concerns and answers all our questions. She uses the latest and up to date audiology equipment. I am so excited to have recently found CHEARS Hearing Center and Dr. Kearney! My daughter was diagnosed with a moderate to severe hearing loss at birth and was fitted with her first set of aids at 3 months old . The past 6 years we have been going to Radys to get molds , aids , cleanings , check ups etc. I have never been satisfied there. 6 months ago I started researching new places to go. It's very hard to find places who take children. CHEARS answered all of my prayers . Dr. Kearney is amazing ! The communication is great , I can make appointments within days. I know what I am paying for at all times, not just sent a bill for the services. I am so mad that I didn't find you 6 years ago. My daughter was just fitted with her new sparkly blue ear molds today , she is 6 1/2 and she as well adores her new Audiologist ! I took my mother to have her hearing re-evaluated, and her hearing aides re-programmed. We were scheduled to see Dr. Lucia Kearney. We were a bit late because my mother needs assistance. Dr. Kearny met us with lack-luster enthusiasm and this was our first visit with her. No niceties, no smiles, not a whole lotta love. My mom is the sweetest person in the world and Dr Kearney proceeded to scold her for not keeping her mask secured and that she has a five month old at home to protect. Mind you, my mom is hard of hearing so she could not hear her well. My mother was confused and stressed after this. Quite rude. The hearing test began and I was in the room with Dr Kearney and she had zero interaction with me. Not a smile, a conversation, nothing. Hearing aides were re-programed and Dr Kearny again gives my mom a talking to about keeping her hearing aides on at all times. I was not pleased with this type of doctor-patient exchange. Bottom line, Dr Kearney has little to no bedside manner, and she is not very senior citizen friendly, in my opinion. I'm not going to hide behind this review. I called and spoke to Dr Kearney directly, but only received justification to her actions, and little reconciliation. I held my tongue during our visit because I did not want to upset my elderly mother. Take your parents someplace more friendly and helpful. I would give two stars because office staff and reception were very helpful and friendly but overall our one hour visit was poor. My mother will not be returning as a patient. HC read more

As a musician and music lover, I am at a lot of concerts. Because of this, my hearing is constantly put in harms way by the decibel levels I am exposed to. Attending one loud concert is enough to do some damage and make your ears ring for a while, let alone many nights of loud music. Knowing how important my hearing is and the risk I put it in with all the loud music I am exposed to, I still couldn't force myself to wear earplugs. Mainly because every time I put a pair in, all it did was muffle the sound and made everything sound horrible. You know the kind; the big foam cylinders you have to roll up and slide into your ear. While these may be great for loud airline flights or jackhammer work, they didn't cut it for me. I knew custom earplugs existed, but I had always thought they were very expensive. BE VERY CAUTIOUS!!!!!! They scheduled services not covered by my referral and didn't bother saying anything until after I called them when I got a bill for an outstanding balance. They stated the provider I was referred to doesn't do the services on the referral so I would need to go back to my doctor to get them to redo the referral so I could get insurance to cover the services they performed. My doctor was not willing to back date a referral this facility messed up and my insurance will obviously not assist since this facility decided to take matters into their own hands rather than advising prior to making an appointment. Now this company is sending me to collections and I can't wait to explain to collections why this became an issue. read more

For more than ten years I have been spending a great deal of money and time trying to find hearing aids and an Audiologist to help me hear better. After working with two other hearing aid suppliers and buying three different brands and models of hearing aids I was frustrated and disappointed. I accompanied my husband to Dr. Faillace's office because my husband needs hearing aids. Dr. Faillace is an expert on the newest hearing aid technology. He applied that knowledge to my husband's particular needs, e g. tinnitus, hearing in noisy environments, and listening to television. Dr. Faillace gave clear directions about using hearing aids to improve one's life, and he backed up those directions with rationale. In addition, he gives his patients a 45-day trial period which is more than the 30-day period required by California's law. Dr. Faillace is personable and gave us adequate time to learn about products and to test them on my husband. We are certain that our quality of life as a family will improve. I spent all my adult life in TV News...we were required to wear what is called an "IFB" in our ear to hear programming and producer/director instructions, etc. When I retired in 2008 I found my hearing to be awful.
